Just curious, do the 4x4 trucks ever run a different gear ratio in the front axle for higher wheel speed? It seams that would make pulling and steering more efficient.

In my area they did. It wasn't marginal but it made a difference

means there is no pull off. if u pull 400 feet and the other pulls a 400.01 then they will win

They weren't doing a very good job of repairing & prepping the track between runs. Notice the first truck went the furthermost, with just about every truck afterwards (rare exceptions) going just a little less distance than the previous. None went nearly as far as the first truck, when the track was the most settled.

Or...the 1st was a sled set run. Then they reset the sled for a quicker weight travel.

Varies greatly. At a certain point, traction is the most important thing. If you don't have traction, you're not going to get very far no matter how much horsepower you throw at it.

@@dwightstewart7181 Horsepower varies a lot in these trucks because some of them are alcohol, some use high RPM diesel engines and others use low rpm diesel, some are undersquared gasser builds, some are blown others are turbocharged and there's even occasional centrifugal supercharged engines. Some of the engines have 1500 horsepower and some have 6000 horsepower. The ultimetly defining factors are torque and grip. All of these trucks have +/-200 of 3000 ft-lbs of torque or more.

I was replying to the other guy by expanding on what you said. A lot of people forget that horsepower and torque are not entirely dependant in the sense that both are high or neither is high. So when you say horsepower varies a lot of people would assume that encompasses the entirety of the kinds of power an engine produces, when in reality a 200 horsepower motor could win in the competition as long as it had lots of grip and made massive torque numbers.
