Been “running” since ‘76 when it was a primitive environment. There were No shoes designed for women’s running. We bought men’s small sizes and used razor blades to cut hot spots & padded with moleskin. My first “real” running shoes were a straight lasted Nike shoes. Over the years, I’ve moved through most of the Nike models (literally Hundreds of shoes) Now I’m much older, much slower, 30 lbs heavier and have rehabbed 2knee surgery’s. These are THE SHOES for aging or non-competitive runners. Huge improvement over prior Vomero models & other models in the Nike inventory.
I just bought the Vomero 17 partly because you talked so highly of them. So far so good. I use them as a walking and work shoe as well, and I really appreciate the bounce I get on each step.
I wish they would add just 2mm to the forefoot to make it an 8mm drop. That would reduce the excess ground feel and bottoming out on long runs. Saucony should do the same thing with their new Triumph 22.
@@faissal8997Yes, I know their measurements are typically different from the manufacturer's. However, a drop of 10mm, no matter where the measurement is taken, is just too much for my liking.
I see what your saying, and I don’t even have the shoe. All their shoes they have used zoomx in have had higher stack and this dosent. Maybe they should add an air bag to give some more pop I would like that.
I have the wide version Vomero 17. They are HUGE. Feels like one size up, and wide. But I love it for grinding out miles, or kilometers in my case. Even when my feet hurts. Feels like a firm sole, soft mid and comfy roomy upper.
The stack and drop aren't as advertised by Nike. According to RunRepeat it's 34mm in the heel with 7.7mm drop. Those guys cut every shoe in half and take the actual measurements.
This shoe is my go to daily trainer , I’m 6’2 220lbs I take it 5-7 miles a day. I can flex my toes great workhorse shoes. I’m over 100 miles in it. The ZoomX is soft all the way through the dual layer midsole seems to work better for me. Definitely recommend this work for anyone any size
The hotels usually have curtains that black out the room. The uncovered portion of window in your bedroom is letting light in, it might be minimal light from outside but even small light from electronics like an electronic clock and electronic gadgets that emit light constantly at night can mess with your body's melatonin production making it hard for you to get into deep sleep during your sleep cycle. On another note, I didn't even know the 17's were out till I visited a Nike store and to my surprise I saw it and it said Zoom X on it. Needless to say it intrigued me and watched your video and others and pulled the trigger and got one! Still early on but once I put it on my feet and did a trial treadmill run at my local Roadrunner I was hooked. Immediately I'm saying goodbye to my Pegasus 39 and Vomero 16! Honestly this is what the Pegasus should be but comes short on. Glad to hear that it has lasted you those miles, I'm weary about the longevity of Zoom X. Congrats on graduation 🤙
Feeling like a celebrity over here getting my question answered live on video 😂 thanks for the in depth answer! My pair of Vomeros comes in Monday so excited to get some runs in them! Congrats on the graduation and keep doing what you do!
Another Awesome video as always! NGL you have completely persuade me to buy the vomeroes as my next xc trainers, they sound just right. I have never been interested in this model until now ;)
Nice video today..can always tell a lot about a person that is interested in and appreciates the world around them and what's going on..other than racing, being outside and enjoying our world is what running is all about..I pity anyone that can't stop and smell the flowers along the way..the vomero 16 was ok except for the balloon in the forefoot..just put another 4mm of softish eva,or cushlon, under the zoomx and have a good shoe..the those air bags in nike shoes always feels like there's something stuck on the outsole or something waded up in the shoe..the upper was decent but a little hot..I haven't tried the vomero 17 cos I'm pretty sure it will go flat in the forefoot just like the vaporfly does..if you use a squishy foam it has to be thick enough to stop bottoming out..as ya say it feels like you're running on the plate directly on the ground..what's the point of an expensive shoe that feels like a 50peso flip flop after a couple miles..enjoy the graduation and highest congrats for gutting it out making it thru🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
These have worked well for me for up to 90 minutes/2 hours so should work for you as well. Another option I'd suggest for longer runs is the novablast 4
I also run at that pace when doing easy recovery zone 2 runs, and I bought them for that, they will arrive next week, did you end up buying them? How they were for that pace?
Yeahhh, I got these from after watching your previous reviews on it. Also, thinking about buy a pair for my pops for fathers day. cause of that THICK outsole and dual foam setup with Zoom X. I wish it had a lower drop though. That's why I bought the Saucony Endorphin Shift 3 so I can rotate with a shoe that has a lower drop.
Strobel board lasted, cardboard lasting was in the 70s and man that was terrible. i liked the vomero 16 much better, and am loving the new peg 41. ZoomX foam is a nice pebax base but the best one i found is the Ultrafly- amazing ride, don't need the carbon and i use it on roads and some trails even though its made for hardcore trail and the zoomx does not degrade
Wait for the new true ZoomX Peg Turbos. I think the thick rubber outsole design on these split into just two sides is excessively slappy. I found the break in period on the lateral side very painful. Feels like a shank inside of the perimiter but does soften up eventually.
For long runs or any sort of faster running the triumph but for daily miles and shorter more relaxed runs the Vomero! Also Vomero for walking/non running use
@@supwell thanks for the reply! Excited to find your channel / IG. I currently have the Pegasus 39 and some 880s. Think I’m looking for a slightly longer run shoe between the two. Pegasus 39 have always been great for me so that was a major influence for the Vomero.
@@chazschneider5295thanks man 🙌🏽 and I would go triumph for sure with that rotation. Will add something new with the max stack and fun bounce. It's one of my favorite long run shoes of the past few years
This review is literally why I prefer a firm forefoot. Anything else and I get calf sprains in my fibularis longus or gastrocnemius. Depending on the shoe.
Brooks ghost max! It's my favorite for walking. Feels a little more cushioned and has a better roll than the Vomero 17. Also the lower drop on the ghost max is nice for walking

They're the best walking shoes I've owned. Really works for me taking the dog out for 2 mile walks.

I loved my Vomero 17 very much. I liked that it can double as a walking shoes. I hope the next iteration has full ZoomX or maybe a knit upper.
Vomero 17 best daily trainer ever
What glasses do you wear when you run? I always need to put on contacts because otherwise my glasses slide off :/
