They’re referring to Sonic after using the Metal Box item. It started with Metal Mario in SSB64 then in Melee other Metal fighters were introduced and the Metal Box item allowed you to play as a Metal character for a short amount of time
During the Eevee Spirit Battle against the Yoshi Team, you should’ve grabbed the popcorn from the Fly Guy; it would’ve healed some of the damage you suffered. Oh well, if I ever get this game I’ll use the stage gimmicks to my advantage
Can you save your game whenever you need to? But more importantly as you start the story mode, does all the characters you unlocked before, gets erased throughout all game modes?
