I always turn anything in a metal tray to see if cooking it is worth the time and the electricity cost of doing it in the normal oven. Cottage pies tend to be bland in flavour from the supermarket so for the 55mins (+ heat up time) i wouldn't have bothered buying it.

Many people in the West have a relationship with microwave ovens that is borne out of the phrase "nuke it". PEOPLE, a microwave just makes water molecules dance! It also preserves the nutrition of the food more. Don't use it for everything, but find out where it can help you.

@@joshuasjapanchannel I wasn't expecting much from the London-hosted market, there's often not much that's genuinely Japanese and the level of knowledge isn't always high. About as much quality as the cottage pie. That said about 15yrs ago I did get to see actual Yabusame demonstrated in a park in London. While I mention the pie, I think, we, as a community, need to support you in moving on from ready meals and toward actual food. While I'm here, I also share your sense of concern at that all to familiar burger meal on the floor 'crime scene' - was someone mugged or was there a huge fight...
Hahaha I used to have the same reaction to oven cooking when I first moved here😂 It still seems too long somehow. Would love to know the name of the Japanese restaurant you mentioned! It's hard for me to find Japanese restaurants run by Japanese people in the UK.

Yes, I usually don’t use microwaves either! I had to get my flatmate to help me with the oven after all hahaha
