  • MEMORY from the Musical CATS
    Piano Accompaniment in Bb Major
Karaoke lyrics onscreen (or turn on CC/Subtitles).
Memory is a song from the musical CATS whose music was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, with text from Trevor Nunn after T.S. Eliot.
This accompaniment is based on the 1982 London recording featuring Elaine Paige, you can hear the original here : • Memory
    Lyrics :
Midnight, not a sound from the pavement
Has the moon lost her memory?
    She is smiling alone
In the lamplight, the withered leaves collect at my feet
And the wind begins to moan
Memory, all alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days
    I was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
    Let the memory live again
Every street lamp seems to beat
    A fatalistic warning
Someone mutters and the street lamp gutters
And soon it will be morning
Daylight, I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of a new life
    And I mustn't give in
When the dawn comes, tonight will be a memory too
And a new day will begin
    [Instrumental]
Burnt out ends of smoky days
The stale, cold smell of morning
A street lamp dies, another night is over
    Another day is dawning
Touch me, it's so easy to leave me
    All alone with the memory
Of my days in the sun
If you touch me, you'll understand what happiness is
Look, a new day has begun

The Accompanist has created a collection of Piano Accompaniments of Musical Theatre and Popular music songs.
These Broadway and West End accompaniments have been specifically performed to match the tempos of the original (cast) recordings where possible. These karaoke style tracks have been created to give the audition performer the sound of what is likely within an audition environment where often we are not faced with a full orchestra but simply a pianist. Therefore the songs can sound very different to the fully orchestrated version.
The tracks are designed to be used either in performance or as practice for auditions. You are more than welcome to use the track to create your own TH-cam cover of the song. If you could put a link back to this video in your description that would be amazing of you. I'm creating a playlist on my channel page of covers using The Accompanist's tracks so let me know if you do a cover using it and I'll add it to this channel's covers playlist.

I've set up a new Facebook group which anyone can join to discuss tracks they'd like to see on the channel, share covers using The Accompanist's tracks and chat to other like-minded musical theatre people. I'd love you to join / 2132843113394761
Also, if you're looking for something new to sing in auditions and for performance check out my channel for the musical theatre songs I’ve created : / @timjspencermusic . It'd be amazing if you had a listen and might subscribe.
If you feel the urge to donate to the channel it really helps with being able to keep the channel and project alive as it takes time, as you can understand, to produce these piano accompaniments. If you wish to donate through Paypal at paypal.me/timj...
