Can't thank you enough for these videos man. You definitely deserve a lot more subs.
To this day, he has 1+ million, you have earned your wish.
A fantastic and unbiased series. Looking forward to every video you make!
it's finally here! Love my SIDI STs, no squeaking, good ratio between comfort/safety. Let's see how the vortice does in your brutal test.
This video was f*cking legendary
Idea for boot testing: Crush resistance; maybe drop a 250KG weight on it and see how it holds up?
Nice - I like it. ~RF9
I feel like it’s just a slight bit unfair to judge boots designed specifically for high air flow and hot weather conditions on waterprooofing...
Yeah it's stupid, they were never even advertised as water resistant.
You should test the Knox handroid gloves
Your channel deserves way more sub's the review's are descriptive straight forward its clear and easy to understand and subbed
I would have been interested to see the shin protection tested, how do you think it would have fared?
I reckon it would have passed. Same nylon-polyurethane as on the ankle protector, which passed the 100g test. ~RyanF9
ryan stay safe doing those burn tests. my lungs almost hurt watching you just talk through all these different fumes!
Usually I love these videos but the first two tests are dumb. Of course they won't be waterproof, they're design to be extremely well ventilated whilst racing, want waterproof you'd buy a waterproof boot. Then running around on plastic that's wet and covered in oil. What the fuck does that prove? I've done numerous track days and ridden on the road for 4 years now in all weather and never been in that situation.
Thats the thing
Yeah... Ryans tests are absolute BS! No science there at all. The same as he missinformed people about tyre traction. Highschool physics isn't enogh for such topics. I guess all the engineers are idiots for puting wide tyres on superbikes. I have my second pair of SiDi boots and they are the best! I had the Vertigo Corsa and now I have the Vortice. Had two hard crashes with the bike falling on my ankle sliding with the bike on it for a couple of meters before the bike went away. Not even a bruise! Second crash was on the track with aproximately 3 sommersalts and 6 barrelrolls before I stopped in the gravel and again, not even a bruise. And the best thing?! I have the Vortice boots for 11 years! On road, on track and they are immortal! My friend went from Vortice (after 15 years he was lazy to let new shoesoles to be reglued) for Alpinestars Supertech R and he is so disappointed. That shoe is too fat. One weak point of SiDi boots? They are not very comfortable. You have hard parts in contact with parts of your feet, but if you are not spoiled, you get used to it. But the problem for me is, how much vibration they transfer into your feet. You have superb feeling with them, but you get a lot of vibrations into your feet and the last rides on a trackday are really painful for me.
crash test a motorcycle
Why though? You crash, you go flying. The bike provides no safety. It would just be a test to see how much you have to pay at the end of it all.
thats the whole point
@@thatguyoverthere8097 not true, a bad bike can hold on to you and bring you down with it like my daelim did, furthermore it would also be a test of leak resistance (aka will there be a fuel spill) and all around safety
Damn, I love these videos. I don't give a crap about these particular boots but I watched every second anyway. This is a brilliant idea. Kudos.
Love the videos but shouldn't you have sprayed the boots instead of dunking them? I don't see a real life situation where these boots would be completely submerged like that.
I've had SEVERAL (100+) instances where I've found my feet completely submerged. Right upto the shin.
liking for the boot throw to opposite hand, very slick
But can it survive a grenade?
Nice test! Just an idea, but it will be cool to test some regular non motorcycle boots. Perhaps some Bekina also, they look like a good cheap option for wet weather
my main gripe with this is that almost none of these "tests" are aplicable to the real world (grinding on the inside where it whil hardly ever slide, hitting it from inside while almost all main hits are going to be from the outside, traction fore something that sits on a race peg). not to mention testing for something they are not designet to do (raceboot - waterresistant), buy a tour boot for that. love your other vids, but this is not a indication at all how good this boot is for its aplication and should not be used to deside if you buy it or not
You're wrong on most of it. Yes, they're designed for the track, but you know that street riders buy them to ride in simply because they look the race part. So, testing for traction is a valid test.
Same with hitting on the inside, since a large part of accidents are the bikes falling on the ankle, the inside.
He already said in the video the shift pad was the easiest and it got a passing slide grade.
Although I don't think anyone would use these tests and the results as their final decision maker, some of the points from these tests are valid. Some are just for the humour of it.
the motorcycle falling on on it is not a high speed impact but a slow crushing force since the delta speed is low.
that is like judging sneakers on how they perform in a marathon because you look good running in them. yes it should be mentioned that they are not good for it, but letting it affect the rating of the shoe is ridiculous.
so what if it passed, i want to know how it would perform against another shoe in a real world senario, how log it takes tor grind the inside is of no interest to a buyer.
not that i not enjoyed the video, but with some tweaks to the test this could be fun and be of use to somebody who is considering buying it
For accident tests, there are 3 types, 1 you low side, 2 high side 3 people hitting you. For low side test for friction protection, high side for impact test, then when people hit you, impact and ridgdy.
I had low side on my cheap $200 suit, 1 around 50mph, 2nd 65mph low side over a clift/car wheel down right side on a mountain. I say you need a tough boots, because my left foot got hit from my bike peg, hurt for 2 weeks, other than that sliding on my outer my left leg and left arm area. My cheap suit did it job very well,j say I can low side it again 3 more time.
Cheap products or expensive, they are still have thick parts to protect you, even if you slide on a cheap helmet ,you still have to slide through outer plastic, the foam and the padding before I get to you skull. For normal day riding ,I go for cheap products, because all the accidents usually sliding. With more eye skill, flex skill you can either avoid t bone, hit from side by turning, or drop a gear and disappear. 1 once a suv cut my lane when j was land splitting then I quickly turn right, no turn signal were used. 2nd time I was on car pool lane a tesla suddenly turned to my lane ,I quickly turn left to the side of high way. Always looking cars around you, never yhey do crazy shit,or simply did see you
I’m on a budget. How much for the tested boots?
The moment you stepped in to the tub, instant thumb up !!
Do one of the Alpinestars boots next
Corozals would be nice, altough probably would be too closely usage wise
it's kind of funny how a micro second of sliding across 30-50' of tarmac will do so much more work than an electric sander or grinder for minutes. Even a front tire wash out on smooth dirt road at 25mph has taken off my palms and implanted nearly strategic levels of gravel reserves, hopefully my tissues use the aggregate for enhanced binding and reinforcement of those 'wear' zones where it has been ground in
but....wouldn't resisting ankle twisting just transfer it up the leg to the knee....?
I got some question should i buy this boots or go for vertigo 2 if am street raider with condition both boots brand new
you could do a comparison between a set of rigger boots vs motorcycle boots for strength
man loving this series, wonder if revzilla gonna do a collab with this guy
Try the Cortech Latigo. I've started to see them crop up more and more, and I think it'd be informative
Can you make a crash tests of motocross boots as well?
Hey Ryan, As this is the first video of a boot test, where does the benchmark waterproofing at 2 min come from ? as per comments made at 1:08 ... makes me wonder how many vids you have stored up in that back room still unreleased.. Cheers bud
Hey Adam! We tested a bunch of gear when we were coming up with this series, and that's where our benchmarks come from. Unfortunately we were also figuring out our filming method at the time, so we don't have enough usable footage from those tests to make full episodes. You're also right in saying that we've got a bunch of vids sitting in the back room waiting to be released... Cheers! ~RF9
FortNine please message me if i can buy the pair that you sank in the water test. I cant afford a new pair. maybe you can give me an amazing discount. thank you. dream13x@gmail.com
You want them burnt, as well?
Wasn't interested in these boots, but watched it. And liked for the green helmet))
At 9:43 you can see the plastic is broken. At which test was it damaged?
It busted during the ankle torsion test (golf club). ~RF9
Hey Ryan, what's the song that's used during the golf tests? Nice lounge music
Nice videos, love the original testes, you need more viewers, subscribers and likes
I have a question....will it survive a sword, simulating hitting a corner of something after a crash at high speeds
Can you do this series more often for more common cheaper gear? I was thinking like O'Neal rider boots, same style as these, entry level, 108 dollars on Amazon, tons of 4 and 5 star reviews. LET'S SEE IF THEY PASS THE 4T9 TEST
Would like to see the new aria signet x
Damn these tests are brutal
Love it though
The boot ankle support was broken on the left side of the boot
can't wait for the Gringo video next week
I would like to see a really high quality helmet put to the test
We've done an expensive Shoei already... got another couple expensive helmets to come. ~RF9
3:31 smooth af
Fantastic video would it be possible to test the RST tractech evo boot be tested?
hey there,i am from India and a new rider.as I am diabetic and not much of info about gears is available in india.i have been going through ur channel and I love the way you share info about various products in details and I love the way u test things.i need a help from you and that is ,can u help me knowing which is the best protective boot available in markets it diagnose torque, alpine start super tech r,or sidi mag1 ,which one should I spend my money on
Your test is amazingly great! Appreciate your work~ But a little puzzle: will the producer be mad at you ?
Can you test the Puma 1000?
That gringo is going down next week
So basically, if your socks don’t ignite your feet won’t catch fire.
As much as I love the look of the Gringo... I do think it's going to eat shit on pretty much every test.
Is the ankle armor cracked at 9:40?
Yes it is. ~RF9
How much for the trashed boots? lol
the grip test really isnt fair cuz the tarp is more slippery that the tarmac
What's the song called at 3:50?
do an alpine jacket?
hey fortnine could you do some mx boots? thanks!
do you still have these ? Would like to get the remains...
As a prop in your house sure
I like your videos they are entertaining but some of your tests go beyond riding conditions. I crashed tests this boots going 90+ and they held very good. I don't think the IIHS submerge cars to see if they are water proof why would you submerge a pair of track boots instead of testing in rain like conditions.
If they were waterproof that would be a downside for a sport or track boot
song at 2:22?
Do the Icon Variant
We will. ~RF9
never worn sidi race boot for sale
Those boots are a "Legendary Failure"
RYAN PICK THAT PEN UP WTF! >:(
Sorry but they are not worth 600$
hi rip boot
just saying the sole traction you did on tarp and in a public area you obviously would be on concrete or something so that test was false
Hey so do you work at Fortnine and get products for free or just do videos and have to pay for products @FortNine
GS GS GS !!!!
crash test an AGV Corsa(R)
No answer... grrrr :(
What kind of name is Ryan F9? Hi I’m Mike F16
send me them...I'm poor
This is the first test that seems to not have much meaning in the real world from you. Each piece of gear should have different tests
You're way too big for your boots !
101th comment
Why does youtube keep promoting these videos. They are the worst reviews with little to no scientific use in a real motorcycle crash. :(
