Love me some Proxmox content. For these things, I use tteck's scripts. Done in a minute.

You have a unique approach to explain complex Proxmox stuff. More Proxmox, please. And thank you.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I followed your instructions and had my new home assistant server up and running in less than 20 minutes. Awesome :) I would really love to see an installation of wireguard VPN on proxmox :) Again, thank you.

And yeah, it would be awesome if you make a video tutorial on how to pass SMB/CIFS shares to LXC (unprivileged).

That was great thanks, I installed it using the script, but I like your way better as I know everything that's going on. How about adding an NVR like Frigate with a TPU

I second this question about adding an NVR like Frigate or the like! I have 4 cameras now on Blue Iris and thinking about adding 2 more. Would this mini PC Home Server work with this addition to Home Assistant?

Thanks! If you're using one that's USB, you can pass through the USB device directly in the hardware settings of the VM. The written instructions have a step on passing through USB devices: www.wundertech.net/how-to-set-up-home-assistant-on-proxmox/

I would really like to see you do a full install of nextcloud with high performance backend, etc. Really appreciate your content.

Help me understand the need for Proxmox?

      Best platform for containers.

Why better than just installing on the mini PC? Just trying to understand……

Rather than having a single PC that only runs Home Assistant, you can use the PC to run Home Assistant and other operating systems and containers. For example, my Proxmox server runs an Ubuntu virtual machine, a Windows virtual machine, Plex Media Server, an Xpenology virtual machine, and various other software.

@@TWO515TY still confused. I have a single PC running Ubuntu server with some 15 different applications in Docker containers, one of which is Home Assistant. They each enjoy the full capabilities of the PC. Sure this less than tech savvy guy is missing something..

There are many reasons why, but the main ones that I personally have are backups and simplicity. I like running Home Assistant OS and use a lot of the supervised features, so running it in a VM just makes sense for me. From that perspective, it then makes sense to run Docker/Jellyfin in LXC Containers to limit resource usage. There are tons of reasons to use Proxmox in general but for a home server like this, it doesn't make sense for everyone - for me, it does though.

Can this site host or anyone one else tell me if I can setup an NVR like Frigate or the like with this (Mini PC Home Server Setup) on home assistant! I have 4 cameras now on Blue Iris and thinking about adding 2 more. Would this mini PC Home Server work with this addition to Home Assistant? Thank You!

When you say add Frigate to it, do you just mean the Frigate Docker container?

@@WunderTechTutorials Hi Frank and Thank you for the reply! Been a fan for years, ever since you helped me setup my Synology NAS! As I am new to Home Assistant and learning. I am guessing setting Frigate up as a Docker Container, would be the best way to setup Frigate to work with home assistant while still being able to fully utilize it for my cameras as an NVR (I will have to search for a how to video on doing this). My Goal is to replace Blue Iris with the Free version of Frigate or any other HASS accessible NVR home security camera system. I understand it may be less powerful in some ways then Blue Iris, but I should get the basic features I want for detection with another add-on that works with Frigate and be able to display the feeds onto a monitor as I am doing now. Assuming I am understanding everything correctly, my biggest concern is the device I choose to install it all on being able to handle, HASS and a Frigate NVR at the same time!

@@paulweatherford5256 Thank you! I can't promise it will or won't be good enough as I haven't personally run it on here, but I HAVE used Frigate and it is good...assuming you are open to writing a lot of configuration files (not sure if this has changed but that's how it used to be). I still use Blue Iris and prefer it to everything else, but I understand wanting to move off of it. I think for a basic setup, this would be fine, but I can't promise it as I never tried. I think the more detection/cameras you have, the less optimal this would be, but for a few cameras, it should be fine. Keep in mind, you can connect BI to HA as well and do a lot (I have motion notifications set up in BI that automatically send to HA and I LOVE it).

why didn't you say what we should name Home assistant? What did you change about the name?

    • @WunderTechTutorials
      @WunderTechTutorials  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

You can name it whatever you'd like. It's just a display name.
