Yo thanks for reviewing my frontier! Great video as always
Nice ride man!
Fun fact: A Chicago delivery man had a 2007 Nissan Frontier (same configuration, trim, manual, engine), and he reached over 1 million miles in just 11 or 12 years!! Nissan brought him a brand new truck, and its literally the same exact generation too, and that was about a few years before the new Frontier was released.
Bro got a "brand new" truck that was basically the same as his old one
These trucks are incredibly durable. They're not necessarily outdated but rather proven. Manual trucks are fun as well as being functional.
I4, RWD and a 5MT. Good enough for 95% of Americans who say that they need a truck.
Gimme 4WD and I'm good. I frequently good off-roading (when I have a truck that works)
I wouldn't get one in this configuration. Those back seats are too tight for anyone to fit in it, and they're hard to climb in. Four full size doors and a six speed manual would be a great choice.
@@damilolaakanni I mean, the new Tacoma *exists*
@@damilolaakanniI mean if you're buying a work truck and only need the bed utility this is perfectly fine
@@Skiptrac3the new Tacoma has a Turbo I4, it’s gonna destroy Toyota’s rep
Rare to see these in manual
I have this truck but base model. it's nice to find a no frills truck that is reliable and easy to maintain. I bought it because it had the 5 speed manual
Pickup trucks with manual transmission 🤩😍🥰😃❤ WTF!!!!!
Man, I'd love to have that truck! Perfect for hauling yard debris and perfect for the worst weather we get here in Atlanta.
For the libyan market we got the same truck with the name of “navara”
4.0 is not offered for us, as the 2.5 being the only engine available with either a 6 speed manual or a 5 speed auto
The navara is definitely a reliable truck in general other than having oil consumption problems with the 2.5 in our markets.
People here tend to swap the engine with a 2UZ,5VZ,2TR or 4Y engines from toyota
I’ve seen some dudes swapping their engine with M111 and M50 engines from mercedes and bmw.
oil consumption and head gasket issues were also a thing in the North American Frontier, but only in the early years.
I almost bought a 2006 Frontier 5 spd with a blown HG. It was cheap but also needed tires, a tailgate, battery and couldn't get a good enough deal with the seller so I passed.
A former roommate owned a mid 2000s Altima with that engine and rebuilt it due to oil consumption issues, so yeah definitely a thing here too
My dad has one of these and it's been great. I think his is a 2015. So far no major issues, just routine maintenance.
I regret not buying one back in 2017, was 15.999 one at that price. I had no power windows and lock but did have the only option of cruise control.
280k miles?? ~35k miles per year is insane lol
Also, being in a wreck in the "backseat" of this is a new fear of mine
Especially because you have to sit sideways due to having no rear leg room.
@@GeeEm1313 it's funny how these trucks don't have enough legroom to sit in a front facing position despite the NHTSA forbidding manufacturers from manufacturing vehicles with side facing seats. Maybe that's why Chevy and Ford didn't even try this time to bring the extended cab midsized trucks back while Toyota removed the half doors and back seats altogether which leaves the Frontier as the last extended cab midsized truck with "seating for 4".
2019 was actually the last year for the 4 cylinder and manual combo in the Frontier. The current engine and transmission (3.8 V6 and 9 speed automatic) became standard in 2020.
My twin brother has one of these, the fully loaded version though, he just LOVES it. I don't know if the bed review would be as *good* as that one was though!
That radio has an AUX jack, which allows a Bluetooth-to-AUX dongle.
Of course those jump seats weren’t meant for grown-ups just a place to put stuff or let pets ride. Awesome truck.
That's why I love extended cabs!
The V-6's came with a six speed manual. Fun and torque-y.
In other markets this is called the Navara or the DMax. Not as popular as the Ford Ranger or the Toyota Hilux. However, in dual cab pickup form, with the simple mechanicals and five speed manual transmission, it would make sense. That is, if you ever needed to get anyone to sit in the back seat. The simpler, the better really.
8:05 actually no! The Drive did an extensive breakdown of the "new" Frontier and discovered its the same exact frame, same exact suspension, and that the new body panels, cab and engine can drop-in on the old frame and vice versa.
no manual though
Finally a 2nd gen frontier!!!
I reside in Sulaymaniyah and almost all the pickups , four wheel drive or rear wheel drive are based on the same recipe and they are used for ACTUAL WORK! be it the L200, the nissan pickups in the GCC markets or the hiluxes with the indestructible 2.7L 2TR-FE. these three are the most common and 95% of them are found equipped with four cylinders, 5 speed manual.
BFB pass on a manual Nissan truck is crazy
Zack, If I was getting a manual , compact work truck it would have to have a 2TR-FE engine. 😁
Love my 06 2TR 5 speed. It’s slow as an 80s diesel but feels like one. 4.10 gears and will grunt it’s way everywhere.
Zack, your voice sounded so SAD when you mentioned the jump seats.
4:34 BIG FRIGGIN BOTTLE PASS!
These are badged as Nissan Navara here in Britain.
The 2.5s were very good engines
The people who say stupid manual ironically don't know how to drive one
they made that 90s truck until like last year
Now this is an exciting video
And I helped put the crank in!
What was that like? Did you need to replace stretch to yield bolts? Check bearings? Or did the crank just need to be put in and that's it? Was it all done while the engine was in the truck? So many questions for an unusual repair.
@@carllinden533 we took the engine out and disassembled on a stand. New rod and main bearings to go with the crankshaft.
@@carllinden533 it's a really repair that sounds more challenging than it really is. Match the letters and numbers to references in the service manual, order them up and lay them down. Aside from the broken flywheel bolts, the rest of the crank was actually in good shape with some wear on the center main bearing.
@@LazySniper Fascinating. Nissan is average in terms of service manuals and parts availability then? Or better?
@@carllinden533 in all fairness, you're gonna need a class or two with Nissan to get the concept of how to work the service manual. It's rather cumbersome at first.
Wait is this a shooting cars or regular car review with Zacks new review attitude in this video lol.
soon he'll rant about gay sex....
This was the 9th car I filmed THAT DAY. I think my brain was melting live on camera
@@crouchb15 Hey, did you know that Brian from RCR is gay? He only mentions it every chance he gets.
I like these basic utilitarian work trucks. Not everything needs to be full of bells and whistles.
04:34 BIG FRIGGIN BOTTLE YAY!!! 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
3:27 This reminds me of something. In my 2003 Mazda Protege owners manual it says not to hold the steering wheel at full lock for more than 5 seconds, or was it 15 seconds? I can't remember but regardless it causes some kind of damage to the pump or seals. I wonder how many cars/trucks are affected by this design in hydraulic power steering systems. 🤔
s/o to the Original Pancake House at 7:53. Check it out if you haven't. Oregon (my home state) is the original location where it all started.
I love pancake house. Better than ihop imo. I have one of their coffee mugs. The one by my house, literally used to be a house.
If I'm not mistaking, even the modern Frontier has one of these jump seats, doesn't it?
Do you want power windows for cheap. Just take out the crank and put an electric mixer in place
Enjoying the videos but the new outro graphic makes me dizzy.
“Its so bed”😂😂
5 speeds are not outdated, why would missing 1 gear make it outdated? the knob is cheaper than dirt . though.
take a drink zack's on the wrong side again! lol
if you have to me shoved in one you are not sitting there! unless you are a toddler and your parents hate you.
yeah manual trans trucks are great the 5 speed in my dads 94 dakota has 350k miles the trans is the most reliable part.
with the auto there were such finniky units sitting in drive doesnt circilate fluid! so m any of those 4hre trans missions get burnt up before 200k , vs a manual that used correctly will last forever.
This is like the second video I've ever seen personally that passed the bottle test. Also that back seat looks HORRIBLE. Packed like sardines indeed.....
so basically you can use this drivetrain and use a g35 rear subframe to make a rwd altima, interesting
Anthony Rivera….what a tool
Lol my cousin has the same truck but its a 2017 v6 automatic, im 5'9 183lbs n man i hate those back seats
Can a Cello case fit in the bed?
It's...a Nissan.
Best truck I ever had
Nissan fell off with the redesign. I said what I said
I remember when I was kid a school mate’s father had a Nissan Pathfinder circa 1992. That thing was rugged. Not sure what happened but I would not keep a new one if it were free
It’s not okay to be proud of being wrong
6:17 why you sound Drunk?
Bed...
Its what all modern trucks should be. Ofcourse with choice of cab and AWD, but it should NEVER be any taller, or much wider than Frontier was. Instead everything got bulky and so towering it obstructs vision for eveyrone else in traffic and makes people worried for their safety buy equally large stupid things. This dumb macho bs styling and design in Pickups and SUVs has to finally die so sensible vehicles are made again...
