I completely forgot that her version hit #1 in the US! She really had the x-factor and had such a unique and likeable voice. Loved your reaction, as always :)
YAAAYYYY!! You reacted to Kim Wilde, another one of my favorite artists. It's a shame that in North America her chart success was reduced to Kids in America and You Keep Me Hangin' On because she has a lot of hits to react from. She's one of the artists that have spent the most time in the U.K. charts. Hope you react to more songs from her.
This is my favorite version of this song as well. Maybe because this is the first version I came in contact with. Kim might not have the greatest voice, but it stands out, it's easily recognizable. When you see a keyboard that reads "Yamaha DX7" then you know it's the 80s.
I just love Kim Wilde! I'm certain I wasn't the only teenage boy in the mid 80s who had a bit of a crush on her. And at 60+ she's still at it! Her latest album, "Here Come The Aliens", was released in 2018. A bit rockier than her 80s stuff, do check out the "Kandy Krush" video if you feel like catching up with her new stuff (link below). Happy new year! :)
This brings back memories. I still like to listen to 80's music, but I also love then newer version of Nena And Kim Wilde of Anyplace Anywhere Anytime.
A good song...Kim Wilde is maybe not one of the most reacted to videos on youtube, which doesnt say much but, this song deserves its fair share..a good song. By the way,I love the 80s hair on women....:)
The 80s were a fun, innocent era. In every video or recording from an era, such as this the spirit, or Zeitgeist of that age is imprinted quite literally on the recording. And the viewer will experience that to some extent whether they like it or not. Which is why when watching 80s videos many, especially those who are receptive to it, can feel that very fun and infectious innocence of that era.
Good reaction. Awesome artist and song choice. I love how she rocked this song out. This song came out the year that I graduated from high school. Really brings back some memories. Thanks for posting this one. Since you mentioned it in the video. You definitely need to do Samantha Fox's song Touch Me that was released the same year as this song.
I didn’t know this song existed. I barely rediscovered the original version by Diana Ross. And discovered the cover that comes out in the movie Once Upon In Hollywood.
This and Kids in America were 2 great songs from Kim. Great memories coming back here. Nice choice guys. Hey your right Ginger. The Linda Hamilton comparison I couldn't really see but definitely Samantha Fox.
I still love Kim Wilde after all these years❤she appeared at the 1980s Rewind Festival last year but I couldn’t go due to work….I can’t remember the last time I felt so awful😢
hey guys loved this by kim wilde her brother on key boards composed and did all the arrangements to her songs plus her dad is famous marti wilde she had a few great hits kids in america was a good one
I just love Kim Wilde. Her voice is outstanding and her albums (Kim Wilde, Select, Catch As Catch Can, Teases & Dares, Another Step, Close) in my all-time favourite playlist. Greets from germany.
Kim Wilde is great and she still rocks. Kim Wilde is still valid and has released many albums, the latest studio album "Here Come the Aliens" in 2018 and a live album "Aliens Live" in 2019. Btw you should react to Roxette and the songs "The Look" and "Fading Like A Flower (Every Time You Leave)", I think you will like them.
Funnily enough, I've been getting adverts featuring Kim Wilde on TH-cam for the last couple of weeks... The Kim Wilde song that stuck in my head the most was Cambodia (total synth-fest for Mike): th-cam.com/video/1y3TKv7Chk4/w-d-xo.html I first heard it when I was reading a supernatural novel and I made one of those 100%-just-me connections. The thing that always dates 1980s synth-pop for me is the synthetic drum sounds (don't know what the real names were): 'gated applause' - "Khhh, Khhh, Khhh" 'bean bag with a slight leak' - "BMsss, BMsss, BMsss" 'slapped snare' - hard to characterize: it sounds like someone hitting a snare drum with the palm of their hand, or maybe a handclap that's been detuned really low
Wow, down the memory lane. Those were the days. Such a lovely tune and Ginger's enthusiasm is great. Mike show us some moves man, you are falling behind her :) Play some songs which made you move back then.
This was a huge hit for Kim Wilde around the world she is far better than Samatha Fox. She also had some a huge hit in the 90's with remake of If I can't have you it was big in the clubs and also went top ten here in Australia. I also love You Came, Love is Holly and Who Do You Think You are.
Hell yeah :D Even I'd eventually chosen Cambodia, a song I particulary love, but about anything of the 80's Kim is fantastic - which of us guys back then didn't secretely watch and admire Kim? (amongst some other excellent female singers of course). Wait there was also Debbie, Ann, Linda, Sheena, Pat, Kate, Lita, Doro, Cindy, Laura, Stevie, Joan, Suzy, Doro - and let's not forget Kylie or Susanna :p
Fun fact: the genre this song was classified as at the time was "Hi NRG", which is basically the same as today's mainstream EDM. So despite this having a more rock edge, it was pure 80s dance music. Definitely would've heard this played in the dance clubs at the time. I even remember some of the baby boomers referring to it as "80s Disco".
Takes a lot to take on a classic and do it real justice while stamping your own authority on it. This song does that. Also Kim's a dream to the eye which helps.
Kim Wilde was the queen of euro pop for over a decade, but found it hard to crack the American market, what with madonna and all. Kim always had really good material, great arrangements and great performances. Plus, she was gorgeous. Chequered Love, off her 1981 debut album, is a rocker. You Came is pretty great. View from a Bridge too. Her 1990 performance in front of the Eiffel Tower doing Cant Get Enough for French TV is iconic. Give a listen. You'll like!
It IS the hair... Definitely a Samantha Fox look. Samantha was one of my favorites back then. I would agree that this was a better version. Loving your oldies videos. I miss the old MTV video days. As you start watching newer videos, be aware that playing videos straight through can sometimes get you a copyright block. The best way around it is to pause, talk about the video a little and then restart it back a few seconds. There are some good suggestions out there about Fair Use.
saw her Last year at the "Werner Rennen Open Air" in Germany , she looks now older and got more weight, but the Voice is the same, the crowd dancing from the first Song.
@@MikeandGinger There's a famous TH-cam of her leading a tipsy version of Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree on a London Tube train. 👍 This brings back poignant memories - thanks, Ginger! ❤️ 😢😘
Ginger - if you want to combine ABBA with your newfound love of Finnish Metal, I recommend "Amberian Dawn - Lay All Your Love On Me (Abba Cover) (Official Lyric Video)". Capri the singer once played Frida in an ABBA Musical in Finland.
I was browsing through the videos you published and I was surprised you did react to this song. I do know it might take a long time for you to react to another Kim Wilde song. However, maybe a English German duet might of interest to you Nena (from those infamous Red Balloons) did a duet with Kim Wilde. This is the link to the official video th-cam.com/video/LrKlO1Tr2IE/w-d-xo.html There is a crappy live video on TH-cam, thus the official. Oh, this video was from 2002, Nena is Gabriele Kerner and when the video was shot she was 42. About the same age as Kim Wilde, think they were both born in '60 about six, seven months apart. And yes they were generation mates, 2 yrs difference. That would make them 61, Nena will start playing again when it is allowed. I can't say if Kim Wilde play, I simply have no idea, won't say I wouldn't care but I'd watch Nena in concert than Kim Wilde.
I am not sure, Ricky did all of the synths and drum programming and production, Steve Byrd may have played the guitar parts but Ricky plays guitar also.
This version is ok, nothing spectacular. The best version to me is by the VANILLA FUDGE in 68. Really happenin, psychedelic! Im a fan of the Supremes but their version can't compare to Vanilla Fudges.
This version of this song has the BEST crescendo ever where everything just combines, Her voice, the guitar, drums everything. WONDERFUL. 😊👏👏👏
great song AND she was fully dressed... that's how good 80's music was...
I completely forgot that her version hit #1 in the US! She really had the x-factor and had such a unique and likeable voice. Loved your reaction, as always :)

So 80's but so well produced with lots of great layers of sound and a fierce attitude. This is still in my playlist.
The dress, the voice ,the moves ,the looks ..she has it all …🔥🤘
Kim was such a babe, and a good performer too. I also liked her song "Kids in America".

I played this song heavily back in the day.. Good pic..

I adored Kim!!! She was called in some quarters The British Debbie Harry at that time. Just some similar looks.
She's stunning, loved the vocals too.

Nobody wants to see that, man 😅 - M
Such a tune!
Kim Wilde was the one and only beauty of the 80s.
This was a huge hit for Kim Wilde around the world she is far better than Samatha Fox. She also had some a huge hit in the 90's with remake of If I can't have you it was big in the clubs and also went top ten here in Australia. I also love You Came, Love is Holly and Who Do You Think You are.
Another Aussie fan here also. Kim is my fave female singer since KIds in America.
Kim fan from the start.

do more Kim wilde. Kim wilde was amazing she was an pure 80s princess

If you mix Marilyn Monroe with Debbie Harry, you get Kim Wilde (Looks wise)
😅 That’s not bad - G
Best one out of supremes and vanilla fudge by faaaaaar!
What a powerful cover. I definetely prefer Kim's version. The 60s Supremes version on steroids..😀
saw her Last year at the "Werner Rennen Open Air" in Germany , she looks now older and got more weight, but the Voice is the same, the crowd dancing from the first Song.
Wow! I had no idea she was still performing! - G

Kim I Iove you!
You can hear the sas & soul in her voice, her emotion. And the beat is a bop. Hard not to groove with it. Overall, just a great song 🎶
Kim Wilde?
A surprise to be sure but a welcome one 😊
i have this 12" remix record :)
Kim Wilde, nowadays better known as a garden designer and horticulturist. Still dabbles in music, though. Stay safe. All the best to you.
Not anymore!
I was browsing through the videos you published and I was surprised you did react to this song. I do know it might take a long time for you to react to another Kim Wilde song. However, maybe a English German duet might of interest to you

Wth...?! Why..?! 😂
🤘🇫🇮 Nightwish army/community we may surprise you and listen other music also😃 Stay healthy and Keep loved ones safe...
Diverse is where it’s at! - G
She uses 12 cans of hairspray 😂
Does Kim’s brother Ricky play the guitar in this song or the synths?
I am not sure, Ricky did all of the synths and drum programming and production, Steve Byrd may have played the guitar parts but Ricky plays guitar also.
can someone tell me the track after Driver´s Seat in the Intro ?? Thanks
It’s “Palest Winter Light”, by Paco Volume th-cam.com/video/yrAjPzTV7sU/w-d-xo.html
Never Trust a Stranger is a much better song by Kim
The original video is much better!!
This version is ok, nothing spectacular. The best version to me is by the VANILLA FUDGE in 68. Really happenin, psychedelic! Im a fan of the Supremes but their version can't compare to Vanilla Fudges.
Samanta Fox? more like Kim Basinger
Nope, Kim is natural punk singer migrated to pop.
