I have severe anxiety with pre bolusing for my mom. I was never like this - the anxiety became worse after getting the cgm. Mom is often in 300's now even after 4 hrs of insulin
Hi! Two months ago I started using the T-Slimx2 I would do Pre bolus ahead of time, otherwise post bolus would take me longer to bring my #’s down. Kind of annoying. But I like it more for bedtime let’s me sleep better😊. Also for workingout 💪
93% in range is awesome! I'm curious for what day time duration is that for? 2 day, 7 day, other? Also, what is your average blood sugar reading and CV for that range?
Thanks so much! That's currently my 90 day average (93% time in range). Average blood sugar I think is 130 with standard deviation around 23. I hope that helps
Are you using a pump or CGM? What type of diet do you follow? Which insulin (s) are you using? What's the best book you've read for controlling diabetes as well as possible? Have you read Sugar Surfing by Dr Ponder? He's a pediatric Endocrinologist and a type ONE diabetic for 50+ years. How about Diabetes Solution by Dr Bernstein the 88 year old t1d since 11 who recommends a very low carb diet?
Personally I use a pump and CGM, I follow the "personalized macronutrient profile" strategy for diet, the best book isn't out there yet, but I'd recommend reading them all and looking for crossovers to establish "consistent truths" (which is what I did), and ultimately I follow the 80/20 blood sugar formula. I hope that helps!
i typically do split bolus...I don't eat a lot of carbs and afraid to go low before meal hits...so I'll take maybe 1 unit first...than do what your client does, take another bolus when BG's start to rise. Often, I'll just stay flat for the 1st hr or so ppl. Also, all my Endos and CDE's over the years have always always talked about bolusing for protein (not so much fats, cuz one can't really quantify that in terms of a dose) but always protein, especially if eating low carb; everything effects blood sugars as you know. I don't bolus for protein though... There's not really 'a lot' of different types of diabetes, type 1 & type 2...different in terms of where a Type 1 might be in terms of diagnosis (I mean, they don't tell a child with Type 1 they're LADA, they just call it type 1 regardless of if they're honeymooning, etc...seems ridiculous they do it for adults. LADA isn't an actual diagnosis. I think if one eats heavy carb meal maybe with a lot of sweets too, bolusing up front is critical, no?
Why do you say LADA "isn't "an actual diagnosis"? Dr Bernstein has a video about it I think and he's an expert on diabetes. He said basically it's when an adult develops type 1.
@@jackschitt6235 ah, go find a Dx code as LADA. I was 'an adult' when I got Dxd, it was Dxd as TYPE 1 diabetes. Type 1 has nothing to do with age. and the so called "LADA' is just someone being Dxd during honeymoon phase, i.e., they're not full DKA yet and caught it early. still have cpeptide levels, as it may of had a slow onset. Many children have symptoms early, too....but they're not called "LADA". It's stupid. THERE IS NO SUCH DIAGNOSIS or disease AS LADA. DR. BERNSTEIN, YEAH...OK. I'll go with my Endocrinologist. I don't know any Type 1's who wld follow Bernstein's 'advice'. Also, a type 2 who takes insulin is NOT insulin dependent. They don't have the autoimmune disease of Type 1. Type 2 is a metabolic syndrome..often if they can manage their weight, diet, exercise, lifestyle choices (also sometimes genetic), more often than not they can get off their meds (typically orals which do nothing for type 1's). I weigh 92 lbs and cld never eat anything again but will still always need shots full of insulin all day long to survive.

I’m T1D since 40 years. Struggling life. Suffering from Neuropathy of legs.
Great episode! For my patients in the hospital who have gastroparesis we almost always post bolus due to delayed gastric emptying.
Thank you! I hope this video helps
