It's really cool that the snow biome has a boss now! Albeit a minor one, but still awesome! (Minor as in he’s not vital to game progression and he isn’t a large scale boss)
If they STILL aren’t done updating this game, then I think they should add a boss to the Desert. It’s the only area that doesn’t have one yet (unless you count the underground and Space)
I love how when you fight the Deerclops, you sort of need to employ kiting strategies like how you fight almost everything in don't starve. It's just a lot faster here.
The fact you consider Chester to be a must have item/pet speaks volumes for how amazing it is, because we could have had this feature with the shadow mimic pet, yet didn't. Easily my favorite feature of the update!
Getting a new boss really was the cherry on top of this update, making it prehardmode is even better. Edit: This also adds a boss to the Snow Biome, cool!
i love how because this is the only boss frkm dst they added they just made it drop random things that overall represent the game and not just things that would make sence for deerclops to drop, so cool... like seeing all of those items as a person who likes dst, its awesome!
I'm glad too. Finally, the snow biome gets the attention it deserves. The desert has sandstorms (the snow biome has blizzards, but they're not nearly as interesting), space gets floating islands, the Jungle gets bosses and cool enemies, the caverns have cool ores and enemies, the underworld has the literal gatekeeper of the souls of light and dark, and the dungeon gets a skeleton boss and a bunch of enemies that drop really good stuff. The snow biome was ignored for way too long, it deserves to have a new boss
Dude even though it's a pre hardmode boss it doesn't mean it's easy. Of course if you fight it with a hard mode loadout it will be easy but if you fight it at the right time it's hard.
@@kozolith2121 afaik it doesn't despawn after you die (maybe it despawns after a set amount of deaths). but it also has a mechanic that makes it invulnerable if the player is too far away

I don't actually have a source, but I can confirm that the Deerclops can spawn naturally. It is fairly rare, though, I was playing in journey mode during a blood moon, with spawn rates maxed out, and only one spawned the entire night.
No way, It's just like that one time where Don't Starve added this Wilson character, which their whole attire came from Terraria, best crossover update ever!
I feel like deerclops is fine with difficulty because it doesn’t despawn, it allows new players to just continue throwing themselves at it. There’s also the fact you can dash under its legs without taking damage, which helps a lot
This boss is so much fun. Never made it to winter in Don’t Starve as I’m pretty trash at that game haha. Gonna have to get better so I can fight Deerclops on his home turf and the Eye of Cthulhu in that game as well. From messing with certain gear, he seems to be ideally fought before Skeletron and after Queen Bee, if you of course go by “normal” progression. The new items are also so cool and so much fun. Having my boy Chester in the game now too is such a delight. He is one of my favorite things from Don’t Stave so having him in Terraria now is amazing. I’ve learned the best strat against him is to use a frog leg with a balloon(of course their upgrades are good too) and stay right in front of him so he uses his ice attack instead of the snowball throw. You just use the vertical mobility to jump and just rinse and repeat. Great video of the update James excited to see you check out the seed it’s super fun. Can we expect a Don’t Starve video soon now?
Now there's an Eye of Cthulhu in Don't Starve as well. Sincerely Skeleton is very weak if you manage to beat Queen Bee and get Underworld loot, so I guess it's better to beat this new one after Skeletron

This crossover is an absolute treat. I love every part about it, in both games, but my favorite thing to take away from this is that Terraria, albeit 'at its end', is still kicking.
I was trying to summon the boss in my own world (not knowing there was a summon), I found out theres a way to have it spawn naturally in the snow biome, I'm not sure exactly what caused it but it spawned at exactly 12:00 AM while blizzarding, i also had a water candle on but I don't think it's a random spawn
This guy came outta nowhere when I started playing terraria expert on a fresh world. To make a long story short, my world was covered in tombstones. (I had lead armor, 200 hp, and a snowball cannon.)
Dearclops being one of my favorite Dst characters, I’m happy he got added, I just wish they could add more bosses/enemies like the queen ant lion for the desert biome or maybe even the dragonfly.
Chippy, since you said you've never played it, if you did a playthrough of Don't Starve or DST, I would watch every second of it! It's my favorite game of all time. :) You'll probably get your ass beat at first but learning is half the fun and such a cool experience.

I just finished nohitting the final boss today, and this dropped. definitely one of the cooler bosses of pre hardmode, and also one of the more difficult.
I like the idea of deerclops a lot, because of it's weird spawn conditions, but picture this: You are trekking through the night during a blizzard, fighting for your life, and then out of nowhere a creature out of nightmares appears, and chases you with it's powerful attacks, and the extremely limited vision would only help the experience. And it would still be a good miniboss in early hardmode, especially if you are trying to farm ice golems, and then it appeared to ruin your day.
pretty cool things to mention: - when in the "the constant" seed world, using the radio thing (or voxola radio) will turn the DST themed shaders off and make it look like a normal terraria world - just like in DST, the deerclops doesn't despawn when you die and no-one's around it (this might not be true but it's how it worked for me and my friends?) i'm so happy this update came to be, both parties really went all out with this and as someone who loves terraria and LOVES don't starve i am very satisfied by both of the games' updates :D
As a DST Player, the drops and Deerclops fight was cool. Specially when Charlie's hand just spawns randomly XD. And yes Deerclops also somewhat transforms when its Winter Feast and its super cool. Can't wait to play Don't Starve Together with my fellow survivors there and see how terrible the Boss you gave us Terraria XD.
chester is amazing because now you don't have to carrier a piggy trough with you all the time, it essentially saves you a slot by making the pet slot functional
This update is incredible. Many new items and chester as a funcional pet adds more combinations for pre-hardmode (especially chester, since you wont have to get the money through in inventory), but I would really like that they added one more boss for the dessert, to have 1 boss for every biome.
Lucy the axe is basically alive in dst and is only obtainable by playing as the character named woody. It also talks. The radio thing also changes your vision back to normal in the constant seed. The weather pane is very strong and it even seeks.
Would be AWESOME, i would love to see something like gurglings or lokii in the game, but they would also at the same time have to make it 12+ age suitable
The first time I encountered the deerclops, I didn’t even know it existed and I was just starting in my world and I died like 50 times but I managed to kill it because it doesn’t despawn after you die which I appreciate
i randomly spawn deer clops while exploring(i was in the snow biome and it was having a blizzard moment when i got to a forest biome next to the snow biome) i spawned it ofc i was like "WTF IS THAT" cause i never seen the boss before or heard of it
I just beat deerclops and it was so easy all you have to do have a ironskin potion jump on deerclop head with king slim mount and have ant type of range weapon and your good hope that helps
Also, dearclops dropped dont starve together stuff, eyebrella is made from deerclops eye(and other stuff), bone helm is dropped from the last boss of the game, Lucy the axe is the axe that a character (woodie) spawns with, weather pain is a magic weapon, radio thing is the thing that allowed maxwell to fool most of the characters(some had different ways of getting into dont starve world)

Dude even though it's a pre hardmode boss it doesn't mean it's easy. Of course if you fight it with a hard mode loadout it will be easy but if you fight it at the right time it's hard.

The first time I encountered the deerclops, I didn’t even know it existed and I was just starting in my world and I died like 50 times but I managed to kill it because it doesn’t despawn after you die which I appreciate
i randomly spawn deer clops while exploring(i was in the snow biome and it was having a blizzard moment when i got to a forest biome next to the snow biome) i spawned it ofc i was like "WTF IS THAT" cause i never seen the boss before or heard of it

I just beat deerclops and it was so easy all you have to do have a ironskin potion jump on deerclop head with king slim mount and have ant type of range weapon and your good hope that helps
Also, dearclops dropped dont starve together stuff, eyebrella is made from deerclops eye(and other stuff), bone helm is dropped from the last boss of the game, Lucy the axe is the axe that a character (woodie) spawns with, weather pain is a magic weapon, radio thing is the thing that allowed maxwell to fool most of the characters(some had different ways of getting into dont starve world)
I don't think aceint fuel weaver is the final boss anymore , after the celestial gaurdian

Lucy the Axe: Character-exclusive item of Woodie the Lumberjack. Good at chopping, bad at fighting.

i only started playing terraria 2 months ago and this is my first major update and i love it
Bro, I had no idea about this boss and I was trying to build an igloo for my goblin tinkerer during a blizzard. The look on my face when this thing came out of no where.
I've actually played over double the time on Tmod loader than actual terraria, and I hope this will bring my back to the base game for at least a bit longer
If you're in an ice biome and there's a blizzard, the deerclops will spawn at midnight
If you haven’t fought the deerclops at night in the don’t starve seed, you haven’t experienced fear
They should also add a littlr more content in the granite and marble caves minibiomes. They deserve more love
