I know that this kind of thing happen more often to women than men, but I do have the same experience, recently just because I play badly, a woman in my team started toxic at me in voice chat and text chat, she's making fun because I play badly and not as good as her.
I did play badly at that game, and I didn't make an excuse for that, I just say "sry" in chat, but she keeps doing it, so I guess the only thing I can do is mute her.
I hope people would keep in their mind that this is just a game.
And when people toxic at you "mute button" Is always an option

If you sound like you’re not straight, or you’re a woman, there is very very different toxicity and rampant homophobia and sexism in these games. I experience it less with val then i did with COD, but it’s still there. No one should be toxic. But if someone is talking shit to you it’s most likely because you’re having a bad game. If they’re talking shit to us, even if we’re doing good, it’s generally a lot more violent and extreme. I’ve had people threaten to dox me and rape me. Been told to kill myself because I’m a woman. What you’re missing is that in this video specifically too, if josh had sounded like a straight man, they likely would not have been toxic. You think that you just see it a lot because it gets views but that’s not true. You don’t see the majority of the harassment because a very small amount of women even stream games. No one is “not taking men seriously” you guys just have vastly different experiences with toxicity than women/lgbtq/POC do. It’s not the same.
All in all we shouldn’t have to mute people, riot should just do their due diligence in actually banning people who speak like this and making changes so that they can’t just up and make another 5 accounts on the off chance they actually get banned. This game requires communication to win.

My little brother was banned for over 2 years from leaving comp matches... Id prefer someone leaving my comp match than having to deal with this.

I'd definitely say it's more than 10%. In literally every game someone is being toxic in some way. These people who just start throwing slurs and stuff are way too common. I'd love to see what their life is like outside of video games. There had to be a reason their so miserable.

As a girl who is still relatively new to the game, today there was this friendly guy who said hello, so I hesitated, but then said hi back because he sounded wholesome. And wow the change in his attitude was actually shocking. And I agree, I think it’s ridiculous that it should be on me to mute them and that they get so little punishment, so thank you josh for posting this. It was hard to sit through, but your reaction to it is just like idk it’s respectable. It’s the way I want to be able to react to things haha, or I guess not react.

I had a racist dude and his bronze egirl in my game, dude shouted slurs for 12 rounds until someone on my team grabbed his ip, booted him offline and used a program to mass report him for cheating. the match was then cut short and I got the red cheater screen
do you have any idea how the guy booted the racist off? i really really want to know so i can also clean up valorant.
This was one of the hardest matches to watch. I really hope Riot takes steps to address this kind of behavior in the future, because it should *never* be considered normal to spew hate like this. It's not a "joke" as they tried to play it off as, it's something people live with every day.

There’s been so many encounters where people in my games are laughed at or bullied because they’re a woman or the sound of their voice like you said. I’ve been in many unrated and comp games where 4 of my teammates are yelling, screaming into their mic, calling me boosted because of the sound of my voice. Even I consider myself lucky as I know that so many other people go through things 10x worse than this. Personally, I don’t do well with people yelling at me or just making me uncomfortable so I just end up muting them which doesn’t really solve the problem. I don’t really know how I can explain this, but while I’m playing, I can still hear their voice kind of echoing and it just kind of puts me down. When that happens, I just usually leave the game which results with me getting a warning or a ban. Because of these encounters, whenever someone else is getting bullied or yelled at, I’m afraid to speak up and when I do, the person that was getting yelled at doesn’t step up for me even though I did for them. This is really the reason why I prefer to duo with a friend that I know has my back and I really think that this is an issue that should be addressed by Riot.
In low elo, I met so many people with good mechanics but with bad mental.

This! I've had games where the men just say the most vulgar and disgusting things. One of the games I was in, my duo and I q'd into a 3 stack. I made one mistake, ONE, and that alone made them say they were going to take turns r wording me, that they wanted to unalive me, then do things to me after that. and nothing happened, bc 2 reports aren't enough to do anything. It's literally so shit.
Every time I play val and there’s a girl someone says “IS THAT A GIRL???” And my immediate response is always “let’s ask ourselves, does it fucking matter?”

This is basically the day to day crowd that i encounter even though this game is crazy because these 4 idiots found each other. I also dont think muting is the best solution. I usually stand up to them as well and obviously report. I think the most important thing is to be an intrusion to this toxic behaviour. Its important that they know it will not be tolerated. Would love to see riot give more of a shit - this game could be the best game ever if it werent for players like that.

I'm going to be so honest, I had one too many games like this and it's the reason I stopped playing Valo. It's hard to watch, and it's even harder to sit through. It sucks so much, you handle it way better than I do. I just don't understand how making someone miserable and uncomfortable for 40 minutes is a fun way to spend their night. I'm just trying to play and chill without being harassed for whatever reason. I can handle banter, I've been playing videogames for a long time, but the constant pressure is insane. If you're not constantly harrassing someone, both of you can focus on the game and get more wins, which is what everyone wants, no? Love you and your content Josh, so glad you're around in the community.
I've always wondered that too. I understand that to them, in their small minds, "It's just trolling" or maybe some of them actually dislike certain people for religious reasons etc, but i genuinely can't understand how they can speak to someone like this and not feel incredibly uncomfortable and pathetic the entire time. Personally I have no reason to hate anyone unless they do something to make me hate them, but even if I did I'd rather just not speak to them than do this. It's like he said, they just have something wrong with them, it isn't you or me or any of the other normal people, they just have something wrong in their life.

Thank you for showing this I felt like I was going crazy because people were saying the game has gotten better with toxicity and stopped making it a focus in videos and comments but I still deal with it if I choose to talk while solo queued. It makes me feel like I am not allowed to play or have fun unless I have a guy with me which is crazy. Even though sometimes they start to bully the people with me too ;-;

Seen a lot of toxic games and been in a lot but I always tried to stand up for others who wouldn't for themselves while taking care of me yk. I am really sorry you've been through this js like I am sorry for everyone and anyone else that has to deal with this from time to time. No one deserves to be treated like shit, it is never your fault ladies and gents, you guys are amazing. This community can be pretty wholesome, but there is a bunch of toxic just happening that it's absolutely insane. I tend to have wifi issues sometimes, my pc isn't the best, but it's capable of running valorant so I get penalized and even banned for 100h+ and it's a "screw you for having those issues!", but people who tend to be toxic and keep harassing me on a daily basis get away without even being penalized which has happened before despite me and my friends reporting them multiple times, they can't catch them all. It's very say, really, disappointed. Look out ya'll, take care everyone please and don't take words to your hearts
this is one of the many reasons i love watching you play. you never agree with discrimination or hate, you always call people out. being able to watch you play and actively go out of your way to defend others is something not a lot of content creators will actually do.

Its so sad on how true this is. Once in a comp game I was in split playing omen and I was going negative. My whole team was mocking me for it even though only 2 person were positive. I feel you josh hopefully valorant finds a way to fix this issue.

i just recently started playing valorant about a month ago, and i absolutely love it, i love the game whether im winning or losing! but one thing i dont love is the toxic people, it breaks my heart seeing one toxic person turn the rest of the team sour, i never get tilted gameplay wise, but when someone is yapping in me or a teammates ear being a dick it really just pisses me off, i hope the community soon clears up! im all for it! spread love yall
