Thanks, this was helpful:) Though I'd wager that's probably verdigris rather than algae (copper corrosion, like lady liberty) from the brass parts sitting in water, seems like there wouldn't be enough light for algae. I was dreading what mine would look like inside after seeing the jet black oil, but it seems suspiciously clean...
Thanks man! I always wondered how you clean the pump. Literally about to do it right now at 8 in the morning while everyone is asleep. Also, will there be a part 2 showing how to incorporate the tomato sauce?
Hello! Thank you for the video. I have the same pump but it is no longer able to pull a vacuum below 1700 microns. Would you know how to repair this model pump? Thank you, your cleaning video is a big help! Paul
I have the same pump, I forgot to change the oil on time, now it reaches 30 in on the gauge but it drops to 27-26. I have dissasembled it just like you, and it was relatively clean, there was black residue but I cleaned it and ok. But it continues with the problem, when I put it to work and turn it off, it doesnt retain the vacuum and a slight bubbling is heard in the hole where the oil is charged. What do you think it might be, I heard that the empty cartridge needs to be replaced completely.

Ah excellent point. I learned something today!!!
It can also be reminant uv dye. It appears a tad bit brighter than usual copper oxide. Guess it's too late for the leak detector light!!
Did you test the pump after? How much microns did it pull down too?
Yes. Last system I pumped it down to 200 microns
@@HowToDoitright 200!? The lowest I've got was 320...
@@mikediaz8684 you may have to service your pump and use new oil always

Not sure what you mean by incorporating tomato sauce?

Empty cartridge? Never heard of it
Wow! Talk about neglect. That pump never saw an oil change.
Very true. I bought it used and he probably never changed the oil
I flush mine out with marvel mystery oil every summer!
