One of my favourite players ever - he always gave 100% on the pitch and ran and tackled with more determination than anyone else I can remember. I never thought I'd see his try-saving tackle on Tuigemala and his interception try in the same cup final for Wasps against Newcastle again - I was lucky enough to be sitting behind the goal line for that one! There was also a wonderful try-saving tackle on Lomu on the Tour Of Hell when he was still at Bristol and playing fly half for England - he was about the only good thing to come out of that tour!
I'm a Scotland fan. The England back 3 of that era - Cohen, Lewsey, Robinson had a fantastic balance of strike power, pace, physicality, raw competitiveness and - something we don't always say about England backs - flair. England can always access good athletes but sometimes a bit of flair is missing. It made your heart sink to see them on the teamsheet!
@3:10 I was lucky to be at Twickenham to see this magnificent try against Italy, right down pretty much at pitch level close to the halfway line. Couldn't have had a better spot to appreciate Lewsey's pace and jinking run turning the younger Bergamasco brother inside out before burning past him.

World 15? Without a doubt!!!
THAT tackle.
The in and out on bergamasco and try saving tackle on de villiers are the ones i’ll remember him for!
I just realised this is my history teacher's/ rugby coaches brother (Edward Lewsey) but he's just been really modest about it
I was also taught my him about 15 years ago
