    In India henna is used to color hair since ages but later foreign brands like L'Oréal and others to sell their colors started brain wash to propagate their products to be best n Henna bad for hairs. So sad. Dear u don't have to shampoo same day on applying Henna. Best way is wash your hairs with water only and let it dry naturally then Oil ur hairs n scalp properly let it sit then shampoo the other day. This way it helps lock in colour in hairs also condition it too with oil.

    Please note that a 50/50 henna-indigo mix will *not* give dark brown to someone whose hair isn't already dark (like it was here)! Those with lighter hair will get a very warm reddish brown! If you have lighter hair and you want dark chocolate, you need to have at least 30/70 henna-indigo ratio; exact ratio epends on one's individual shade.

    A suggestion - use a towel that shows the colour of the hair. Here u used maroon so the colour got reflected onto the hair thus the henna colour isn’t obvious

    My indigo gets extremely clumpy and falls out everywhere. I don't understand why it keeps doing this. I only let it develop for 20 min and its yogurt consistency so it's not too thick and it's not dried out. It creates a massive mess and I just dont get why it falls out everywhere like that. It makes me want to switch back to chemical dyes because it's such a hassle.

      If you put straight indigo over your hair it'll probably turn black...best bet is to make a new mixture with a greater percent of indigo. Do a few test strands to ensure it's the color you want before dying your whole head.

    I use the "henna guys" in deep red. I recomend them, as it is idiot proof, pre mixed, and they make it clear what color it will be. It is the boxed color of the henna world i guess. I agree with all of this, i am currently sitting with a head full of henna lol. More is less when it comes to henna, box dye you can just slap in on, with henna you want your head dripping. And its gonna be a bitch to rinse it out. I rinse the top layer, and then use a shit ton of conditioner to get all the "dreads" worked out. I actually use a ton more dye than this lady, really get every bit in there. Also i have had a major difference in time, the longer the better. You want at least 4 hours. I also use black tea and a bit of stong coffee to make my henna (to darken it a bit).

    I have gray hairs and want to begin dying my hair. I think this is a great option for dark brown (Indian) hair, BUT I am wondering what the reaction will be in a chlorine pool. Would it hurt or damage my hair? I honestly don't care about the color fading (I can always repeat the process), but I'm more concerned about the indigo + chlorine = damaged hair. Can you please assist?
    Thank youuuu!

    • @jessicajackson1973
      @jessicajackson1973 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's a plant. There can be no damage. Chlorine could potentially fade it over time, but there can be no damage that will result if you are using 100% pure plant powders (henna and indigo). My family and i go to the YMCA regularly and I've used henna for ages...still vibrant color with zero damage caused from plant/chlorine reaction. Chlorine is naturally horrible for hair, so just continue to care for your hair the way you would if you weren't coloring it ie: deep condition, protective style, cover, etc.

    Hi, Katrina! Actually, after watching your videos, I was thinking to dye my hair with henna + indigo (I have already bought the products) but I wasn't 100% sure how to prepare the henna because some people say to add lemon juice or coffee or tea... But I'm going to make it your way! Can I ask you what portion of henna + indigo did you used? I mean, I know you'd said 50/50 but how much? 50gr henna and 50gr indigo? An other question: I want a colour similar to burgundy, do you think it's possible? Maybe if I use 70/30?
    Thank you so much!
    PS: sorry about my english, I'm from Spain

    • @Katrinaosity
      @Katrinaosity 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Yes, I find chamomile to be a much more gentle acid to release the dye. How your color turns out will depend on your starting hair color as well, so what you could do it try making a tiny sample batch, and just dye a small length of hair at the nape of your neck where you won't see it as much, and make sure you like the shade it turns out. 70/30 would probably be great! I just do 50/50 for chocolate brown, but didn't weigh it. I have long hair and dye mine with henna and cassia, and I probably use 2 cups of dry ingredients total, if I want to dye all of my hair, but how much you need will depend on how long and thick your hair is. I would make more than you think you'll need, and you can freeze any leftover to touch up your roots.

    hey Katrina. my mother die her hair, using henna.
    For preparing it, I take pure mustard+amla oil and mix them with pure henna powder still very thick in texture. Then I put in hot water(not boiling) and mix. Then cook it a little bit for a 2-3 minutes till i have the required consistency (stir constantly while cooking). and let it cool down a little bit.
    This way I never had to keep henna for so many hours.
    And then apply it on her hair in and near roots first, by making partions and sections of hair. this way I don't have to massage it.
    Kindly can you use this method also and give me a comparison.
    Moreover, if camomile tea isn't available, is there any other alternative that I can use?

      Suryaprem Aluvila It depends on how dark you want your hair. A 50:50 mix is a med brown. The more indigo you add the darker your hair will be Start with more henna than indigo if you are unsure you could always do it again darker but you can not make it lighter for a very very long time.

    • @TracyD2
      @TracyD2 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh and it depends how dark your hair is to begin with. It can’t really dye really dark hair light. Straight henna will give it a nice reddish hue and a lot of shine and thickness.
