  • This morning I set off searching for various songbirds and woodpeckers in the greenspace near my home in San Marcos, Texas. The Hill Country of Texas is also home to large populations of white-tailed deer, especially those residing in city limits.
    While the rainfall and a dying GoPro battery ended my "vlog" early, I did manage to capture some great video from this morning's shoot.
    Photo/Video Setup:
    Sony A7RII paired with the 200-600 f5.4-6.3
    GoPro Hero 10 Black w/ Media Mod
    Rode Wireless Go II
    Robus RC-5570 Vantage Series 3 Carbon Fiber Tripod
    SIRUI PH-Series Carbon Fiber Gimbal Head (PH-10)

    Enjoyed watching this, especially the Nashvilles and the spider webs covered in water droplets.

      Hey thanks! Fall here in the Hill Country of Texas offers some much needed moisture and a chance to see some of those late migrants

      @@wildaboutbirds71 Pedernales is a great spot. I’ve spent many days out there birding both in their blinds and on the trails. Can’t wait for the spring migration

    This is exactly the type of content that I look for. Excellent production. I just got my 600mm a couple of months ago and I'm still learning with it. Pairs very well to my Sony a7iii. I post videos made in Missouri if your interested, stop on by. I have subscribed to the channel and look forward to seeing more. Gl!
    Cheers

    Hi, Liam. I just discovered your channel and really like your videography and your personal style. That big buck you saw on this outing was truly a handsome deer. Here in Maine, we would call him an 8-pointer, but perhaps Texans count tines differently. Just out of curiosity, do you ever wear face paint (or a camo mask) and gloves to eliminate the "flash" of your exposed skin?

    • @liamdmcinerney
      @liamdmcinerney  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Chris, thanks for the comment! You are indeed correct it was an 8 pointer, I didnt realize I undersold this guy haha. Funny enough, I'm moving back to Maine in 2 weeks and was only out here in Texas for graduate school. Will be working for the Department of Marine Resources. Last couple months have been busy, but Im really excited to get back east and create videos this summer. Will be living in mid coast (Waldoboro). I digress, to answer your question I do wear a camo gaiter when I'm walking around the woods, doing more run and gun videography. The populations of white tails here are numerous and have followed a few herds in the backwoods near my house. Otherwise, I often setup my Tragopan blind when I have hours to spare and will sit down wind from a few openings I know the deer will walk through. I dont wear gloves, but wouldnt be opposed to adding those. Do you shoot or hunt? Would be interested to hear your setup
      Thanks again for the comment!

    Great work, I'm just curious about what lens you were shooting with?

      Thanks Lisa! I am using the Sony 200-600 f/5.6-6.3 G lens. It’s a great telephoto for the price. I’ve also added a Rolanpro waterproof lens cover to help protect against scratches and scrapes
