I know most people here know this, but I want to explain why what the guy said at the end does not hold water for those who don'tknow or their chess elo is low. It's because since the bishop is protected by the king, if you attack the rook, I will just slide the rook over where it's safe. And if you take the bishop it's only equal material trading, since they are valued at 3 points.
Yeah, I suspect they didn't grasp that the whole point of a fork is to present the opponent with _two_ (or more) bad options. “Cake or death” is not a fork.

Knight to c5+ loses to pawn to G6, since it removes the protection of the bishop giving you a free bishop
First of all, Nc5 isn't check (so no +); secondly, it's g5+, not g6; thirdly, you missed the whole point of his rant: it isn't a fork because the Bishop is defended. Even if white didn't have g5+, it still wouldn't be a fork; white would simply move the Rook and recapture on d3 with the K if black took the Bishop.
