Very nice model indeed. I like the weathering most. This kit is the old Esci, from 1989, re-issued by Italeri. Still a more than decent kit. I have served on this vehicle and I will built one soon. Very nice work on the model.

Its nice and easy, I like from time to time to built a kit that doesn't have 1000+ pieces and costs a fortune.
Thanks for showing off this kit and your building of it. Getting back into modeling after 10-15 years or so, but couldn't find enthusiasm for aircraft/armor, but then found zombie apocalypse dioramas via Google and TH-cam....OH YEAH! Saw 1 BMP modified to be a post apocalyptic vehicle with the turret removed, the hole covered over, then painted a medium, kind of dark blue as a taxi. Since zombies are NOT discriminating on who they eat, this leaves me options of showing them in Russia, England, etc. due to the other APC's/ military vehicles I have. World of difference between this kit along with Dragons vs Trumpeteers, but then how long have the first 2 companies been producing a BMP kit? And like you said, this one's a lot cheaper.

Nice build! I love the Soviet riders but here is a tip on your tracks, make the tracks go down a bit on gaps between the road wheels because in reallife the weight of the tracks angle it slightly down instead of an all straight track on the road wheel.
Thanks! I know about the tracks... but it not so easy with the tracks out of the box and the aftermarket ones are just too expencive :(

Nice kit! Although you could've bought the zvezda 1/35 scale model kit. They're better and more detailed, they also have the Soviet army guards roundel and numbers but this kit is good enough.
Anyways nice build, I'm happy that you also included the armored vehicle riders and tank crews to make it better.

This Kit sucks! I prefer you Buy the BMP-1 from Zvezda/Dragon - cheaper, better detailed!!
I built the Zvezda BMP-2 (it shares some parts with the BMP-1 kit) and you have to do alot of work to obtain a decent out of the box model. Parts fit is very poor expecially the lower, upper hull and rear plate assembly. It wasn't also very funny to retouch every single track link (140 links, more or less) to have them fitting each other properly. This Italeri kit (ex ESCI/ERTL kit) looks much more straight forward to me with a pretty similar level of detail. Better engeneering also. The Zvezda is slightly cheaper.
only because it has many parts -> its not a bad kit. If someone dont have the skills, than the ESCI EARTL is the answer for the modeller. But the detailing of ZVEZDA/Dragon is way better!!!
Judging from my first hand experience, from this video and from the pics on the super hobby website database I don't see much difference in details between the Zvezda and the ESCI/Italeri kit. Many details on the Zvezda kit are also wrong while the ESCI/Italeri is correct. Speaking about details, have you ever seen the inside of the road weels on the Zvezda kit? Or the hingens of the rear doors (which are also wrong)? Or the periscopes? Or the lugs without the hole? Or the drive wheels? What about the return rollers? The parts fit on the Zvezda is also very poor. Pastic is soft with alot of flesh and ejection marks everywhere. In the end I think the Zvezda kit did not deserve all the time and effort I put on it to solve all the problems and finally turn it from a mediocre kit into a decent model. According to scalemates.com the Dragon and the Zvezda kits are not from the same tool. Maybe the Dragon kit is better, I don't know, but I've red a review and it seems to have the very same problems of the Zvezda kit.
