    I've used surgical tubing (silicone tubing) for my line release clip. Cover the alligator clip and cut so there is a little excess off the tips. I've used the other tubing, and it becomes brittle in the cold. So make sure you're getting silicone.

    Since using it have you had the clip snap you’re line ?

    • @buschfishin
      @buschfishin  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      on my first one i wrapped the clip with tape and on the others i put two-three layers of heat shrink on them so no i’ve never had them cut my line even on 8lb test

    Heat shrink tube on the alligator clip works great.

    i build myself one just last weekend after watching your video and others with the same setup. should your gator clip be turned 90° ?

    • @buschfishin
      @buschfishin  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      when the flag is set the gator clip should be horizontal holding the line, to set off the flag the gator clip should go from horizontal to facing upwards in the air. hope this helps!

    • @kevinzimmermann4947
      @kevinzimmermann4947 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@buschfishin you mentioned to have the clip facing up for easier clamping. I had the first one facing up and it was even with tape not coming out as easy as I thought. I turned the clamp sideways and it worked like a charm...I love DIY Myself but I don't have to personality and time to make videos. cheers. Kevin.

    You can also use plastic tubing on the ends of the alligator clip. Looks better than black tape.

    How do you set the clip?

    • @buschfishin
      @buschfishin  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the clip holds the line from the rod so that when you get a bite, the fish pulls the line and the line spins the clip and dowel so the flag goes off, once it’s spun and the clip is then vertical the line will come out and the fish will be free to swim with the line free spooling off the rod. hope this helps!

  • @leviklumb4620
    @leviklumb4620 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you know what size dowels you used?

    • @buschfishin
      @buschfishin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if you measure that door stop it just has to be something that fits in there, i don’t know the exact size but if i had to guess 1/4 inch

  • @shawnfortier4972
    @shawnfortier4972 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Will the clip cut the line off?

    • @buschfishin
      @buschfishin  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i can’t remember if i said this in the video but for this to work best you should probably wrap the clip with either heat shrink or tape on either side, that way when the fish bites it’ll slip out and not rip the line in the teeth of the alligator clip. hope this helps!

  • @lancerudy9934
    @lancerudy9934 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What does the clip do?

  • @mikeboston421
    @mikeboston421 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    nice, but spin the alligator clip 90 degrees so it lets the line go easier, the way you have it its kinked, make it all 'in line' , can also use rubber tubing over the jaws, good stuff, very good simple tip at 16:40, but hilarious you didnt use your tip earlier on to cut the dowl 45, laughing here lol, its a great tip everyone at 1640 for cutting the angle
