Yes, but essentially the same language.
My dad's native I'm not but I like drumming and I like singing the maliseet music
They certainly are pretty awesome. I met them at the inauguration ceremony for the Sacred Grounds in Madawaska Maliseet First Nations, NB...it was a powerful and very spiritual experience...thank you for listening

The Maliseet Honour Song
As it sounds phonetically:
Wol-ah-swewt-tumol-teen-nen (Lets be thankful)
Eli skijin-o-wol-teg (For being native)
Dull-nah-bam-ugh (All my relations)
Mog-wah-ha-tee-nen (Lets gather all together)
2nd verse
Wol-ah-swewt-tumol-teen-nen (Lets be thankful)
Dun wet-a-bex-sol-tee-eg (Wherever we are from)
Dull-nah-bam-ugh (All my relations)
Weeg-ookem-tul-te-nen (x2) (Lets help each other)
Dun-el-eee-boo-wad-ug (How the creator wants us)
Geez-e-ol-ee-nug (He told me)
Yood skit-ka-mig (This place on earth)
Thanks so much!! This is really great! - I'm sure that in listening to the song over and over a few times and with the phonetics above (and translation), I can write it out using the correct spellings.

I will be getting the correct spelling soon, I asked someone who is fluent in the language for it..but this should help you for now
similar to our Mik'maq
Each tribe when they formed the wabanaki confederacy made honor songs why they sound similar idk much else the history is scarce 5 tribes banded together because the abanaki id assume
i would love this song , can someone send it to me via email along with other songs, i live in a mi'kmaq community and would like to know more songs of my fathers heritage and music from the sabattis clan
The files are anywhere from 3-5 megs in size, I will send them to you if your email program can handle large files. Send me a friend request on Facebook so we can exchange email addresses. There are 12 songs
I just sent you a message (I think it's you) on Facebook = check your "other" folder
Can anyone help with the actual Maliseet spelling of the lyrics - I have some of it below, but would like confirmation and help with the missing phrase:
Wolasuweltomoltinon eli-skicinuwulteq(?)
Ntolonapemok, maqehatinon.
Wolasuweltomoltinon (missing)
Ntolonapemok, wicuhkemtultinon(?)
Wicuhkemtultinon(?) nt'onelipawatog
kisiyulinoq yut skitkomiq
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Woliwon!
I sent you a message through Facebook with the name of person who might be able to help you - he is from Tobique and the Grand Council Chief
