One thing I didn't see was her contacting the new GF to warn her about James's (and his parents') behavior and expectations. ETA: Glad the new GF's parents hired the PI.
One BIG problem with giving the in-laws the home. If there was a divorce, she would have not had a house as she would no longer be on the deed. Good thing she found out before the marriage.
I think they would have sold the house to pay for their debts and then had their son look for another woman to con into giving therm more money. They have not learned their lesson.
@garysprandel1817 I believe she's saying that if they'd gotten married and then there was a divorce months or years later that OP would be SOL as her name would not be on the deed, not talking about it happening in the next few days.
The second Store about the Fiancé and In Laws. Yes, family should stick together, but sometimes that’s not possible. My side of the family was destroyed by addiction that took the life of my Oldest Sister. My other older Sister and my Mom haven’t spoken in almost 5 years. I’ve been with my better half almost 14 years. She and her family to me are a package deal and they’re the family I wish I grew up around. Never would I demand them to give anything to me. That’s not an option. My priority with this family is to look after them and support them. They’ve supported me more than I could’ve ever imagined.
A good test in relationships involving money is to tell the person you suspect if a gold digger that you lost everything, and will have to live within your means from your job to build up savings. Then give it about a month or so. If they leave the trash took itself out.
I know too many people like this James character, they rely on their parents for what to do in their lives. When the parents are gone, they will be lost because they dont know how to live without them.
2nd story is pretty believable when you consider the way golden children are. Get pandered so much so its not too hard for the parents to get whatever they want from their golden child.
I feel ashamed for a this momma's boy having the same first name as me ... amd who the hell dies he think he is ? Moving his family into a house thats not his

James is little more than a child in an adult's body, always dependent on others and never thinks for himself. Serves him right.
I'm highly ashamed this man child has the same first name as me
@@millerlucerojames I can't say for sure, but it may be a fake name. That's the way some of these stories on Reddit are.

If there was a divorce? There would have been an annulment right after most likely.

I enjoy your stories and they are always a good ending to learn from.
