- On the outskirts of Swartruggens, we came across a place called Die Padstal. Although it was closed, the staff kindly allowed me to walk around and explore. What an interesting place! After our usual drive through the town's main road, we discovered the cemetery for soldiers who died in the Anglo-Boer War. We also visited the Swartruggens Dam, which was a stunning spot. Finally, we headed to our accommodation at Cielo Guestfarm, which was an absolute treat in every way. We enjoyed amazing food and had a restful night's sleep. Our visit to Swartruggens was truly enjoyable.

Hi guys quiet but full of history the truck stop full of quirky stuff plus Herbie .those big dumper trucks were impressive SA blessed with all those natural resources. The war graves where interesting with all the different Empire troops and great they are being looked after. The Baden Powell connection super interesting. The NG church in Africa making use from the old Voortrekker Hall brilliant. Wow that was a big Bharman bull !!! It's always great to have the drone footage love it .your accommodation was topnotch loved the dark stone the guys a amazing artist and you can tell by the way everything is done loved the stone wet room with the roll top bath. The walled private garden right up my alley. The work that's been done in the garden the Chappel deserves to be a success. The food looked amazing and made by a chef .outstanding. the white horse statue is the symbol of kent Invictus..so impressed by Swartruggens the accommodation was five star I wish them all the best of luck 👍. Thanks for taking me along cheerio till the next one
Hi Dustbugs, I'm having a blast traveling with you guys through North West. I've been to all the major towns and most minor towns in the province for various reasons amd there is always something to see or explore. Thanks and travel safe.😊
Tha antique shop is really crazy. So many items on display. The North West really impresses me. This is a very nice town and quite busy. So much rich history locked in this town. Typically of the North West. The drone showed us so much perspective of the town Thank you for that. Your flat was absolutely stunning and so quiet. Thanks for this trip.like always it was well done. Next one I am there.
All the white crosses at the farm intrigued me.... 🤔
Fantastic travels, thoroughly enjoy your videos, thank you Sonia & Curtis ❤
This is a lovely place and name rolls off the tongue. I not seen a church like that before. So much to see. Really enjoying this trip ❤🎉❤ thanks alot ❤😢❤ ons is plaas mense. Love anything farm 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Another interesting town. Bigger than I thoughtit would be. Loved the drone footage, churches, mosque's , antique shop. Your accommodation was superb and the meal looke inviting. Was very impressed witg Dean's artwork. Thanks again Sonia & Curtis... see you on your next trip. Safe traveling as always. ❤
Interesting town. Die Padstal has a wonderful collection of quirky collectables. Cielo Guestfarm is so impressive and inviting. I'll be waiting at the next stop ........
Tolgates on the N1 and N4 from Pietersburg to Mafeking more then R600......madness. Goeie video Curtis..Sonia
Hi Curtis and Sonia ,
Arriving at Die Padstal, my immediate thought was, " Poor Herbie has lost his wheels."
A lovely interesting place with so many things to see
Google Maps says Ou Stasie is a gift shop so that's good .
Interesting Boer war history in the area.
Oh man , that church with all the different building materials which makes it unique.
Unfortunately the info on Google isn't always current and / or accurate. The station is as far from.a gift shop as it possibly can be. 😏 It may have been in the past, but certainly no more.
@DustBugsTravel Hi Curtis. You are right , there's reviews but they 5- 6 years ago . There is one of 7 months ago and surprisingly they give business hours which means that's outdated. Probably COVID lock down caused the demise of the business.
Ive got Google to correct that outdated data about the station
Further the exploring of the town was tops. Loved the dam, the Boer war memorial and Front Puller hall and obelisk amongst others.
Your sponsored accommodation on that farm was tops . I'm surprised at the rates for the accommodation was that amount. I would have thought it was much more.
I agree with Curtis and other commentaries Dean is very talented and the fact that he's a chef too is a bonus
As to our continuing journey I think we are on our way to Koster.
@@kennethdshort Fortunately Covid wasn't the cause... my dad lives there and I remember the station shop being open end of last year
Very historical town, heard of it but never seen it. Quite interesting to actually see the town, and of course the graves of the deceased war veterans. Remarkable church etc. Thanks for sharing 👍👍
I took a tour with you guys and I really enjoyed it.What a beautiful place it is ,nice food wow.Swartruggens a place to be.🎉
Dis is baie intrsant engoed en mooi lande ❤🎉🎉😊😅❤❤
Wow, Swartruggens is quite a big town. That Church was absolutely stunning with that Grey stone. I got excited seeing that bull. Your farm house accommodation was beautiful. Stay safe on the road.
Wow beautiful accommodation. I was laso in awe of the church and took a photo when we drove past it earlier this year..
Baie dankie vriende.
Wow that "museum" looks so much like what Prieska has at the Blue stone saloon. I love strolling through places like that.
I remember stops at Swartruggens station on my way to university in KZN from Zimbabwe and back. Would never have dreamed that there would one day be a little piece of heaven in the form of Cielo nearby.
Interesting that you found the former Voortrekker hall and also alluded to British army officer Robert Baden-Powell, founder of a similar youth movement in the form of the Boy Scouts.
Greetings to both of you- you made have an interest in visiting North West at some stage!
Wow! that was such a relaxing and enjoyable trip🎉 It was heaven staying at Cielo 🙏 I would love to spend a long weekend there❤ So peaceful, definitely my cup of tea😅 Thank you for the trip Mr & Mrs D. 😅 Take Care🥰 Hugs to the 2 Bears 🐻 😂
Wow!! Beautiful thanks for the video... as ever brilliant 👏
Spent lovely childhood holidays during the 60's on my grandparents farm Rietfontein nearby. Also great grandparents there bearby on the farm Vlakpan, I think. Getting old now too and living my pensioner live in Montagu very far away
Hi guys. Very much enjoy your thoroughly informative explorations of every town in this beautiful country of ours. I really appreciate the effort you put into every single production and have been trying to pick up on every single episode so far as time permits. Would like a bit more background on Sonia's restrictions for context sake but of course it is your prerogative on what parts of your life you want to keep private. Many thanks again, please keep it up!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy our videos. You may want to watch Episode 480, Sonia addresses her mobility in her own words. 🥰
@@DustBugsTravel Thanks Curtis - makes sense now. I feel her pain as I have a sister that has been battling the same schlepp for many years now. So glad to see she has found an awesome hubby supporting her all the way - you guys truly complete each other which, in todays world, is truly inspiring.❤🩹
Hi Curtis Sonia Dusty and Sandy, once again what an interesting town, filled with history, love the bushveld vibes and the accommodation, top class. Safe travels 🥾🥾
It's very spread out. Muslim cemetery on Spansgemagriver Road in Constantia and another behind and near Groote Schuur Hospitl
In January 2014 this dam was only 6% full.
Hello we were in the Boarding school in Swartruggens wich was actual for high school kids. My 2 brothers Johan was in standard 2, Kobus in grade 1, myself in standard 4 and my sister Rina was in standard 6. Our parents had to move quite often because our father worked at Union Drilling.
The High school is Rhodion Hoërskool next to the boarding school. The few kids that were in the 'Laerskool Swartruggens' had to from boarding school to school. Over the bridge of the Elands rivier.
The beautiful NG church was close to the Boarding school.
Hi julle dis so lekker om na al die mooi van die omgewing te kyk is nogal n groot plek. Dis n pragtige plaas waar julle oornag het. Dankie vir als en war is n plaas sonder n haan wat so lekker kan kraa veilig ry
It was fantastic waking up to crowing roosters that morning! 🐓😍
You guys crossed the Elands river just pass Engen garage, it literally runs through the town.
Yup, we were so engrossed in everything around us that we missed it the first time. We did see it later on during our visit as you'll see later on in the episode. 😁🌊
@@DustBugsTravel, I saw you did. I used to work in Rustenburg and family friends of ours have a farm about 25km from Swartruggens and I also went there for work.
Hi daar. Ek het so week terug op link afgekom. Ek bly in Swartruggens 😎
There is a diamond mine shaft in swartruggens
Love die Kerk jammer jy Kon nie ingaan nie
Herinner jou aan kaboutertjies in die voortuin & 'n pienk malva teen die muur
What about hartibeespoortdam
We were visiting Swartruggens during this episode, so our focus was on it. We don't think of any other places while we're exploring a town. 🚙
