Mazi is still young but I think through Zimmer's attention to detail he will finally learn football. Not just that you get to hit people but there's different ways to hit people through technique and leverage.
I've been saying be patient with Mazi. DL doesn't typically come in dominating, especially at 1T. He has to master hand fighting, how disengage, and his get off. It's still a work in progress, and there will still be some bad games, but once he gets rid of the bad habits consistently, he should be a very good player.
The reason why it’s hard to be patient with him because he was the cowboys fist round selection and you really needed him to make a impact year one that’s why you don’t take a 1t round one lol they drafted for need rather than talent
@Grey_Stone I think draft status is irrelevant with a 1T. Its going to take them time no matter what. The 3T's can sometimes translate faster. Jordan Davis went way higher in his draft, and he is just now a full-time starter in year 3. I think Davis was a top 15 pick and Mazi was a late 1st rounder. Mazi actually had a more productive rookie year than Davis did, and he's off to a similar start in year 2. Nobody in Philly called Davis a bust. They simply waited on him to transform his body and refine the skills needed to fight grown ass men in the trenches. Being big and strong is only part of it, they still have to learn how to use it vs other big strong dudes.

Thing about this game that was great, was the DE did their job with containment. If we continue to play assignment football, which is fundamental, we will be fine. Outstanding defense, this will be very important next game with a running QB

Last night, I was NOT disappointed by the Dallas Cowboys. The NY Giants played well! No turnovers.....NY QB had a very high completion %. The NY Giants did NOT beat themselves.

He improved ! The main difference is he seemed to be quicker off the snap, and he (for the first time ) is actually keeping an eye on what is happening with the ball carrier . Those were his biggest issues. I’d still like to see him a little quicker off the snap, but much improved . Leon Lett was incredibly quick off the snap, and it just made everything he did that much easier for him . He was into the blocker before the blocker was up into a productive stance. They should show Mazi some prime Leon Lett film and show him what quickness off the snap can do , in terms of making everything else so much easier to do

Excellent video. I noticed him in real time this game, but I when I looked at the film for the Ravens he really started to make great plays in the last few minutes of the fourth quarter. I came away from the preseason thinking he was a total bust, but I think I was wrong. I think we have ourselves a DT and that's good to say....or type

Mazi not just getting penetration but getting push to collapse the oline. He's going forward instead of backwards. Just huge if he can start stacking games like this together.
I think under Zimmer and another year of getting bigger and stronger will definitely help Mazi career. I am still using one of my high draft picks on a DT and DE and hopefully Zimmer will stay and can draft his type of players. On the offensive side they desperately need to get new blood but they have to understand that our win percentage goes way HIGHER when we get over a hundred yards rushing.

It might be a blessing in disguise that Lawrence and Micah are out for a little bit. These young guys are going to have to step up their play and ownership of the defense. Micah and DLaw have been the biggest perpetrators of playing hero ball. If these guys step up while they're gone, Micah and D-Law are gonna have to step in line, and we'll get better play out of them, even if they are a little knocked up when they come back.
If he can play like this we will look really good. 1.1 yards average for the giants. If we arnt down to our 3rd in corner we likely roast the giants. People are forgetting we are missing an All Pro corner who had defensive player of the year votes. Mazi had an 88 pff grading, he was a 2nd round prospect so if he comes into his own this year or next we hit on this pick

There's no accountability and that is all about Jerry. The 90s were Jimmy's teams. He was the last coach that was allowed to hold players accountable. Even Parcells didn't have that sway. It's gonna be the same until Jerry is gone.

Last year when they went 12-5 people kept trying to warn people they were winning but they saw the flaws and people kept pushing back saying they were winning. They did the same thing for PHI last year early in the season. Claiming they find ways to win still, until the ship fell apart towards the end of the season and they collapsed. At the same time GB was struggling to win early, but were competitive and figuring it out and getting better with each game and came on strong at the end. If they play like they did last night against the next 6 opponents you’re losing all those games.
Penalties come from bad technique. Missed tackles come from bad practice. I'm hoping this is because they had a short week and these things get cleaned up but I doubt it. Tackling has been bad all year and penalties have always been a problem under McCarthy (top 10 most every year he's been there).

@@mari_reezy6002it’s not just about the win. It’s how you win. Last year when they went 12-5 people kept trying to warn people they were winning but they saw the flaws and people kept pushing back saying they were winning.
They did the same thing for PHI last year early in the season. Claiming they find ways to win still, until the ship fell apart towards the end of the season and they collapsed.
At the same time GB was struggling to win early, but were competitive and figuring it out and getting better with each game and came on strong at the end.
If they play like they did last night against the next 6 opponents you’re losing all those games.

Penalties come from bad technique. Missed tackles come from bad practice. I'm hoping this is because they had a short week and these things get cleaned up but I doubt it. Tackling has been bad all year and penalties have always been a problem under McCarthy (top 10 most every year he's been there).
