    I’ve fenced Laurie Shong and I was never hit under my hand, not even once! He hit me on the side and top of my hand from positions I could never even imagine, but never under my hand!

    Do we agree that it is even more efficient as left handed against right handed ?

      Yeah, its such a subtle blade action when its left vs right, its brutal when he can control the distance. Same handed, its a little more nuanced.

      because right handed people aren't used to left handed people, while left handed people are used to right handed people.

      Yes, because arms are parallel, there is no angle horisontally. It works both ways for right against left, and left against right.

      No! Right handlers have the same advantage over left handers that lefties have over righties. It’s a misnomer that there are fewer lefties than righties, especially when you get to the top fencers!

    Awesome! 😃 God I miss fencing! :( And where I come from in my region of my country, not many other people care about the sport! :( They’re all sheepish! Wanting; “Football this, football that!” :( I’m English so “football” means; “soccer”.

    dirty hahahaha but a great idea so long as you don't over commit on the hand hit

      Very true, Lucenay is a master of that, plus he has built a complete game built around everything people try to do to avoid or beat his hand.

      @@bigbearfencing Do you think it would work with an 8 search also? Maybe a hand hit towards the inner hand as opposed to the underhand?

    • @bigbearfencing
      @bigbearfencing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@robertbonomo1389 Yeah it totally would, a 4 to 8 circles work just as well. Even switching between circle directions as a match progresses will help confuse your opponent. The important point is coordinating the circles with the advance so that the tip is in the right spot when you need it to be there, and feeling comfortable transitioning from the circles into the hits. I tend to think of each corner of the circle as a potential position to finish a hit, with practice and of these can work. Going to the inner hand is workable too.
      I think the best way to work with this sort of idea is to experiment with different hits and targets, no one is Lucenay and your best hits might be different. The underlying concept behind the hit is the same but the finish is expressed completely different for different fencers. This is even better then copying his actions 100%.
      You will also need to develop a strong defense against the fleche, as once you get a hit of toe people get scared and will try to time a straight attack deep. They will get terrified of your hand, and that fear is your control.
