The Celts were not "diverse". They were White Europeans indigenous to Europe, who were once widespread all over Europe, as far as Asia minor in Ancient times. In ancient times they conquerd Rome, and even fought against the Greeks. Celtic origin people and the Celtic culture were largely assimilated into the Germanic, Latin and Slavic populations of Europe. Ireland is the most Celtic nation still in existance. Scotland and Wales to a large extent too. Even the English have much Celtic origin DNA. Im born on Tyneside, England. Of mostly Irish and Scots Origin. Im a Celt!
I think that it depends on how you apply the word 'diverse'. I see your point about them having common factors and origins. However, if you see the subtle differences between Q-Celtic and P-Celtic peoples, as well as those who borrowed cultural artifacts from other peoples like the Scythians, you can see that the individual Celtic tribes had a lot of variety within their groups.
