It never ceases to amaze me of how much you know about LightBurn and lasers. Every time I watch one of your videos I learn something, even if it's a video I already watched. Thanks Rich for all you do to help us.
Great video, my understanding of settings and tests is much better now. The one thing I still am trying to grasp is number of passes, why and when to increase from one pass.
You can set a material test for number of passes as well Dawn to see the difference. I personally stick to 1 pass if I can. But you might want several if you want a deep engrave, like to inlay wood, or paint fill for example.
Another great teaching moment Rich. Funny that just 15 min before watching this video I did a little of what you're showing to engrave an American Flag without painting red and white stripes, etc. Saves a lot of painting time. thanks Rich!
This opens up a whole new world of possibilities for me. Thank you so much for always sharing your findings. Your awsomeness with laser printers really knows no bounds!
Great video and very informative. I 'knew' about cross-hatch but never thought to reduce the LPI to get an interesting patterns. I can see so many opportunities in different designs. Thanks
Great video. Rich, the difference in finishes on your material test card is amazing. Loved the flower. I've been down the rabbit hole regarding increasing the Lpi 🙄
Hi great video again! Something I haven’t seen but I imagine exist is font that burns gradiented into a arch ..point .. like old pub signs… do you know of any predesigned font like this.. that will burn in this style? Cheers
This is great, thank you again for your sharing the “how to’s” You mentioned colored wood. Where do you get this? Or, did you paint it? If you painted it, what type of paint did you use.
Thanks so much for this video! This is something i wanted to start exploring so the video came at just the right time! It confirms things work the way I was thinking but as a newbie I was just hoping my thinking was correct. Gonna try some tests rgis weekend!
This is really great information Thank you. I have a different question, I believe you showed how to have multi files in Lightburn but only cut one at a time and not the others? Thanks
Did you say the layers settings can be imported into the materials library? Do you have a video link on that you can share? I’m not able to find one, but maybe I’m confused.
Dear Rich, I appreciate your instruction and expertise in working with lasers, especially since I am new to this field. I am interested in hands-on classes that you may offer, and I would love to enroll in them!
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy I'm excited to hear that! I'm happy to wait and am eager to learn. If possible, I would prefer to learn in person. I think it will be easier to grasp once I become more comfortable with the laser.
One-to-ten training is coming next year as well. It will be a part of the Academy; live virtual events once a week with 10 seats. I find people learn better in a class environment. Feedback and questions are important to teaching.

Wow! Thank you so much! I appreciate the comment!

Good stuff Steve!
This information offers a whole new set of creative tools to my lasering. Not to mention a better understanding of Lightburn. Thanks Rich!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank for opening up a whole new world for me. Now I think I can get better results for my work. Thanks again Tim
Great to hear! My name is Rich.
I'm pleased more people are starting to discover the techniques I have been using for a couple of years now.
You got a new sub!
That’s awesome, great work
Thanks! Glad you like it Ned.
Rich, another very helpful video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of LightBurn. Have a wonderful weekend, Let the Good Times Rool!
You are very welcome! Thanks for the support!
Thank you so much for this amazing video i will be making my own material test useing this video
Go for it Clayton!
Great video Rich and so kind of you to share your knowledge with others.
I appreciate that, *thanks!*

Wow! Thank you so much! I appreciate the comment!
This is great as usual. I have a RM1390 120W co2 laser so I'll have to figure out the DPI and speed and power for it.
DPI really depends on the project Steve. Run some Lightburn material tests to dial in your settings.
Great video and very informative. I 'knew' about cross-hatch but never thought to reduce the LPI to get an interesting patterns. I can see so many opportunities in different designs. Thanks
Thanks so much for the support Larry!
love it thanks rich
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very helpful Rich , I am going to play with this ASAP Thank you
Have fun with it!
thanks rich for this educational video, learned a lot again. you are a great teacher
I appreciate that, thanks!
Great instructional video as always! Very useful - I wondered how to do some of those tricks and use the color bar better.
Thanks so much Thomas!
I'm liking the features in 1.7
Yep, lots of bug fixes too!
As always, great information. Now if I can just get myself to follow through.
You can do it Steve! 🤪
Great video. Rich, the difference in finishes on your material test card is amazing. Loved the flower. I've been down the rabbit hole regarding increasing the Lpi 🙄
You get extreme changes lowering the lpi David. Raising it only creates overlapping lines.
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy more test cards here we go 🙄 Thanks for sharing your knowledge RIch it really is much appreciated
Have fun David!

No, you would need to use an image Mark.
Ive gotten white on a cardboard pwr/spd test.
Yep
Awesome video Rich you inspire me to learn Thank you
Awesome! Thank you Susan!
Thanks for the great videos. I am confused. @14:44 did you get the LPI mixed up. The left image looks like a lower LPI but you said it was higher.
No, they are correct.
This is great, thank you again for your sharing the “how to’s” You mentioned colored wood. Where do you get this? Or, did you paint it? If you painted it, what type of paint did you use.
I used craft closet to get my painted wood. I've also done this myself with Dang graffiti paints.
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy thank you Rich

You can do it Maria!
This is really great information Thank you. I have a different question, I believe you showed how to have multi files in Lightburn but only cut one at a time and not the others? Thanks
Yes, correct Albert. On the laser tab, turn on cut selected shapes.
Another awesome educating video! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video Rich, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for your support! 🙏
Great video Rich, Keep them coming.
Thanks Jerry!
Very good video Rich, Thank you!
Glad you liked it Herb!
You are one amazing man. Rich!
Wow! Thank you so much! I appreciate the comment Thomas!

I have several videos on it. Search the channel for library.
Great as usual. Thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed it David!
Dear Rich,
I appreciate your instruction and expertise in working with lasers, especially since I am new to this field. I am interested in hands-on classes that you may offer, and I would love to enroll in them!
I am working on a Laser Academy website, but it won't likely be ready until around April or May.

Great!
Please include me!
I want to participate in your virtual classes.
It's a long way off Grace! Keep an eye on the channel. I'll be announcing it about 4 weeks before I get started.
How in tarnation do you know this stuff!?
I do a lot of testing Cindy.
can this be done with metal?
It doesn't matter what the material is.
Off topic but is there a way to get a diode to act like a ruida controlled laser. So when I hit stop it goes back to the starting point?
No, a Grbl controller will only stop where it is.
I had no idea, I fiddle so much to get a burn…but engraves…ugh LPI! Never touched it.
Time to expand your horizons!
My lightburn not connecting to my roly 20w lasermatic, says busy or programm running. It does say ready but not doing anything, can u help me out
Turn off the laser and wait a few seconds.
