sure, it's dead simple, but what makes black tongue awesome is their ability to put so much atmosphere in their songs. It's not just a bunch of breakowns hastily put together, it's planned out, making an eerie groove.
Just so everyone is aware before saying they are boring or unskilled, the drummer and guitarists are originally from infant annihilator so it's a choice not a lack of skill to sound this way. Plus the vocals are quite fantastic and have a large amount of presence when you compare to similar bands.
What I want is stonercore. Imagine Electric Wizard or Bongripper combined with Thy art, or Acacia Strain! Blues riffs tuned to drop d1 running through Sunn model t amps and breakdowns, that would kill!
It's a six minute breakdown that makes your ears bleed and grooves just enough to keep you interested if you're in the mood. Anyone trying to change this needs to just... go put on something else. This nails what it's trying to accomplish.
@@Anomalocaria I mean it's low, the bottom string on my bass hits the fucking pick up , but compared to some bands, it's not that exceptional is all I meant.
its funny how people say that this is "simple" but really it's not, actually listen to all aspects of the songs, its very well written and the drums are alot more technical than you think.
Why the fuck do people hate on this? It isn't easy playing this slow TIGHT either, and the drums/programming/what ever he did (i believe he did play it, cause i've started to learn some of it myself on drums, so hey, it's possible). Just listen to this shit, it is shaking the world to pieces if you get a legit speaker system, i love this shit, and IA, and i want more of them both!
This band is on another level. I didnt know it was possible to make music this fucking heavy. I am by no means a fan of deathcore. But this is far from deathcore. This band cant be compared to any other. That tone is fucking ludicrous. So this is what love at first sight feels like...
Grid It's downtempo deathcore, just a slower chugger version of deathcore, Doomcore isn't exactly a thing yet but Black Tongues latest album kinda invented it.
You should definitely check out meshuggah. They range from their more metallica like (but way heavier) early 90's work, to their modern masterpieces. But it sounds like what your digging about this band and the "fucking ludacris" sound you speak of is absolutely inspired by meshuggah. A great starting song and overall cd would be ObZen.
Sad to see these old comments today. Alex has become my favorite metal vocalist. Dude is brutal and his voice stands out above all others. There’s something about it. Imagine having anything bad to say about this bad. They’re incredible
I dont even like this band at all but it's not hard to grasp the concept that they're not trying to be innovative, just heavy as fuck. Everyone quit bitching and go start your own band so you can play the music you like.
I was right at the front for the entirety of Black Tongue's set at Ghostfest and they were fucking sick, even heavier live. The ending of HCHC and Coma killed me.
Aside from the opinions, I hear interesting meshuggah based polyrhythmic time signatures. BT have actually delivered on the low tuned - hold the tone metal guitar. For those who have not tried please give them respect for this. It is a positive reflection on how extreme metal provides diversity. Very important extreme metal progresses. Rap metal - not. Everyone deserves an opinion, I do not want to hear any hate. Just do not listen to it or just post what you like. Next year you could all be fans.
I think a lot of people are missing the point of this music that they're going for. I sense that they're taking the idea of hardcore and giving it a lot of atmosphere. They're giving it a real sense of dread and doom. This particular song was originally on their second EP Born Hanged. The Born Hanged EP was really all about this very doomy style of hardcore. Their first EP Falsifier was more standard hardcore, albeit holy crap down tuned, but it still had elements of atmosphere. I mean just listen to the intro of the song Fauxhammer. My point is this: the style of music Black Tongue are going for are a heavily down tuned, sludgy, atmospheric hardcore that IMO kicks a lot of ass. Can it be repetitive at times? Of course. But I think a lot of hardcore styles suffer from this. It's still awesome. I like it, and I can't wait for their new album in spring of 2015.
Sucks when I go to a show now days and it's a heavy ass song, and I'm waiting for a mosh to start so I can hop in... and I'm waiting and I just see people dancing... so throughout the entire show I'm just standing there waiting for a Mosh and all I get is dancing.
I am a death metal , thrash, grind guy. First off for what these guys are doing is pretty cool for this style. The break at 1:42 is genius. The problem with this type of style is there are to many riffs/breakdowns in every song, it makes them all interchangeable and I can see running out of ideas after 3-4 albums (yea I am older). Thats my main issue with this style. there is no one defining riff in most of these songs.. But again the break at 1:42 - godly. Not a bad tune overall. Why ain't you guys listening to Godflesh - "Ringer" if you dig this?

Yes from infant annihilator before they became what they are. As a drummer you don’t go this simple from that if you have those capabilities
@@gp7110 you make little sense, cause why should the drummer all of the sudden loose his talent/skills?
I love this band
@@gp7110Those highly capacities too means that they can play lower and in other style, not only technical and super fast...

These guys are so over the top heavy i'm beginning to like them
Same here
Also the singer is AMAZING.
props to the guy doin the after effects on this... goes great with the music and action
