The fact that people doubted leo is insane just because he wasn't prepared for steve once.

Exactly. He shut them whiners up real good XD. It was glorious witnessing how silent people got when he said he didn't prepare for Acola that much, and yet he still got around the Steve jank. He's certainly WAY above everyone in terms of skill level. But even then, that shows how you can beat any character if you are good at adapting to them on the fly.

@@Spyder-Marth Almost every broken fighting game character in existence can be beat. It's not a question of can they be beat, it's how much more effort does a player has to do to beat them and is it fair. Unlike Smash, most of the FGC has no issue banning broken characters. The Smash community takes pride in not banning clearly broken characters even at the cost of the games competitive life span. People really thought I wasn't the best player in the world..." -- MKLeo. Oct 23, 2022.
The best SSBU players do not cry about hard MUs, they overcome them. They don't accept insults from doubters, they debunk them. They don't rage whenever they lose, they say "good game" with a smile and head back to the lab again. MKLeo is a prime example of what a top player should be like. He's such an inspiration to those who want to be good at Ultimate. He, like many, lost to a top Steve player. However, he didn't run to Twitter to say "#BANSTEVEPLEASE", for Byleth did say, "Each battle is a chance to grow." Leo took that quote and ran with it. He practiced against top Steve mains and other top players. He marched into this Invitational, put Byleth on the forefront of the battlefield, as Byleth said "Allow me to demonstrate." Leo not only dominated this tournament, he 3-0'd the best Steve in the world, TWICE, with "NO HESITATION!" as Byleth would describe him. If anyone had any doubts of who the best player was, I hope those doubts faded. MKLeo has the best mindset, the most skill, and he wins big without using a top tier. Byleth and Leo are SO GOOD, together, and that's undeniable. As much as I love good competition, MKLeo being the best SSBU player in the world makes me incredibly happy. This whole tournament gave many players something to believe in... it's breathtaking.
    Well done, king... well done.
Note: I wrote this before, but I don't care. This is Leo I'm talking about; Imma write this again for him :)

I'm looking forward to seeing a runback with Acola. For half this year, he was the West's public enemy #1 with every top player spending months, day in and day out, grinding the Steve matchup and analyzing every action he made in all the previously recorded battles. Seeing him reach #2 during Ludwig's invitational, given all the new players he took on, is testament to his ability to adapt despite him piloting such a controversial character to say the least. It's going to be interesting seeing the fruits of his preparation in taking you (MKLeo) on again.
And even moreso, I'm super excited to see the runback with Protobanham. I thought the Winner's Finals set at Double Down between Kamui and Min Min was a work of art, despite you having a mountain to climb. It was an incredible depiction of a desperate struggle between the hero and her rival. Even if it's friendlies (since there's no point in making things more difficult to win a tourney), I'd love to see a rematch of that matchup. If not, well, the old set is still interesting to watch every now and then.
Otherwise congratulations on the redemption and I'm definitely looking forward to the continuation of this storyline. And kudos to Ludwig for the tourney and especially his commentary. Coming in ignorant yet curious with incredible observation skills allowed him to ask questions that made the commentary 10x more insightful and kept the commentary crew focused when they were way too relaxed and unfocused before he joined the couch.

Alright, if anyone wants some kill stats for nerds, I've gotcha. Here's what moves Byleth killed with, and the number of times it happened (NOTE: these numbers will include the Scend set that is not featured in the vid. I'll make a note per move for this):
Up air: 12 (Of these, 10 are the fabled MKLayup, AKA D-tilt into U-Air, and 1 of those was from the Scend set)
Forward air: 11 (1 from Scend)
Back air: 10 ( The Scend set is 3 of these and the coveted Up-B to Bair happened 4 times, with 1 of them being on Scend)
    Side B: 5 (1 from Scend)
Up Smash: 4 (1 from Scend)
Down Smash: 3 (2 of these were air dodge reads, 1 was a tech chase)
Dash Attack: 2 (Only 1 was from a Nair)
Forward Tilt: 2 (1 from Scend)
Then 1 each for Down air, Down Tilt, Up Tilt, Neutral B, Back Throw, and Up B Spike from Scend.
That makes Jab, Forward Smash, Neutral Air, and Down B (plus all of the other throws) as the only moves he didn't kill with.
    The Joker killed with:
    2 Back Air
    1 Forward Air
    1 Forward Smash
    1 Up Smash
    1 Down Smash
1 Neutral B (The sequence this was a part of was one of, if not THE slickest Joker clip ever)
    1 Side B
    1 Dash Attack
    Aegis had:
    3 Back Air
2 Up air (With 1 MKLayup)
    2 Jab
    1 Down Air
1 Forward Air (The only Mythra kill)

Dude how tf do you get your spacing this good??? Seriously it's like he got autospacing like 70-80% of the time. But he takes it even further with pressure then capitalizes as soon as you make a mistake. He's a beast with spacing, pressure, and influence. That's why everyone he faces seems tense while he's just chill.

I’ll add one final comment. Yes, I’ve also been one to agree that Acola got MU checked here, but let’s not forget his other sets weren’t just 3-0 either (and he lost to Zomba), even though he’s playing the “broken” character.
Acola’s got a long way to go before I’ll start comparing him to Leo

Nairo pointed it out best: in game 3 vs Kurama, Leo, from the moment he gets back on stage at 3:43 (in game time, not video timestamp), doesn't shield for the rest of the match. CRAZY mentally to be at kill percent and NEVER SHIELD ONCE with a Mario back airing you AT LEDGE!! INSANEEEEE!!!! Who else is doing that?!

Hey Leo fun fact: I've been using the tag "Requiem" (capital R) since 2020. Inspiration for it is its meaning for "Mass of the Dead" and also that "Requiem" by Verdi is one of my favorite symphonic pieces (I used to play the violin a lot). Now I have to explain to people that I've been using it well before you debuted with it, and not trying to copy haha. Also doesn't help Byleth is one of my mains. RIP will probably go by a different tag now lmao
