literally this song is so accurate to me and my ex who were best friends through childhood up through when we dated. we dated from 2017 until late 2018 when he left me. i was suffering from undiagnosed bipolar and if you know anything about that..... i was a mess. i couldn’t control anything i was going through and i was scared and confused and frustrated, I was dragging him down with me and using him as my only source of happiness and self worth. he had to make the hard decision to cut me off which forced me to really take a look at myself and i got help. i wouldn’t be here today if he didn’t make that decision, which i know wasn’t easy for him, all he wanted was for me to be okay and it sent him spiraling when he couldn’t do anything to help me. he did what was best for both of us, even if i didn’t know it at the time.
it’s been two and some years since i’ve talked to him and he fell into a bad crowd (we used to be goody two shoes, great kids). i’ve worried about him every single day since, hoping he’d get back on track. i always blamed myself for making him fall off, i thought i pushed him over the edge. this song came on my spotify recommended one day a month or so ago while i was driving to work and i had to pull over i was crying so hard. now every time i hear this song every single word just absolutely makes me sob and echos in my heart, down to the apology to his mom. he was so wonderful to me and showed me what it was like to be really loved. he really was my first everything. i wanted him to know that.
so i decided to send it to him on a whim the other day after hearing it come on my playlist while cleaning my new apartment. i unblocked him on everything, all the hatred or negative feelings id ever had for him were gone from my system and i just sent him a link to the spotify song. i got an apology in response. i totally didn’t expect for him to even see it, let alone answer me at all. i apologized and we both just gushed apologies to each other and told each other how much we meant to each other at the time. i finally got the closure i’d been needing for two and a half years, the apology and forgiveness on both ends. i asked him if he’d be okay to sit and catch up over coffee. i finally think i’m getting my best friend back.

edit: i got back in contact with him recently! i can't say much about it but there were a couple misunderstandings and a lot of trauma involved so it wasn't either of our faults but we both kinda sucked. we're friends again and it's going great :D to anyone who went through/is going through my situation, it will get better. reach out if you have a gut feeling. it's going to be ok.

God it makes me want to write a story or a small comic using these lyrics they invoke such feelings and emotions of nostalgia and melancholy I'm at a loss for words! And the imagery has me even more in awe, it makes my creativity itch to flow. I'm such a sap for these kinds of songs, soft and sweet, sad and accepting, I could lay down and listen to this on repeat for hours and feel at peace.

This song always makes me think of my half sister oddly enough. Her and I used to be super close, being 5 years apart in age never really separated us, that was until recently. Due to the pandemic, her going into highschool, and my father, she’s slowly drifted away from me. We haven’t seen eachother since my Birthday back in either 2019 or 2020, and as of now we don’t even talk much at all.

I love this song so much, and I might have figured it out. This is possibly a sequel to lemons, where the lemon finally figured things out. In the lemons song, blueberry is explaining how she is pissed at the way she is being treated, and sets it straight(relatively fast, as we see in this one). Its now been teo years, and lemon is seeing what she did wrong. She misses her friend, she wants her back. They ended on terrible terms, and lemon isnt quite there yet, but she is trying so hard to change herself. I hope they ge thre happy ending they deserve :)

So if lemons and this song are about the same boy, than this is kind of a progression. In lemons she was completely self unaware, but with this she kinda reflects on her behavior too and starts seeing things from different perspectives too.
Fortunately they are not about the same person. LEMONS is about my bullying experience. This song is about my first real relationship.

Okay this not something I usually do, but I connect and relate to every lyric.a few months ago I thought being appealing and having every guy want you was the most important thing ever. In part it was just some trauma that I need to get through, and a wake up call was what I needed. Then I met a boy who saw just that. saw through every part that I made myself out to be. He saw my errors and what I was doing wasn't right. He tried to help me and he saw the better part of me I didn't understand and wasn't ready to see yet. It made me feel dumb and like a child, he was right, and it was honestly the truth I was young bad dumb. We would fight constantly bc I would get so defensive instead of listening to what he was saying and that he wasn't trying to change, or controle me... like I was thinking he was. Maybe that was the sign I should've seen,...that he was right. I needed to change, it was just sad I didn't realize it before I messed up and made a big mistake with another boy. He fell for the better part of me, the part I didn't want to see bc I thought it wasn't who I am.I wish I could take it all back, bc in truth I honestly think i missed one of my soulmate, he understood me better then most people did and he wasn't just someone I loved he was my bestfriend. It hurts and I wanna apologize but im keeping my distance knowing it's what's best he needs to heal after the cuts I made to him trying to help me and the even deeper ones of the outcome and final disaster .it hurts bc I wanna tell him how sorry and right he was, that I was dumb and should've believed him... Ive been trying to get better so if one day he decides to reconnect, I won't take it for granted like I did the first time. He left his shirt here I keep it hidden, bc I break down everytime I see and smell it and see him and all the good times. your story is most likely different, but this is honestly how I feel about the whole thing.
