Another thing, not long ago, when a new COD, Fifa or some AAA titles came out, supermarkets used have price wars to get you in to their store, you could sometimes pick them up for as little as £35 on day of release, thats all gone now thanks to people turning to digital, no matter where you go now, you're paying 60+ or you go without
Absolutely true I am a physical game person only I had amazon prime and found it to be very expensive for the content available and I get so fed up with people hyping up digital content
As you know as a physical movie collector I'm all against digital, so many issues with it, you don't own the game ( they can remove anytime) there is no packaging/disc etc so I've never understood how a new game can be same cost or sometimes more than physical version. Your example is great, I got Battlefield from cex for 2 quid, I just don't understand how they get away with wanting 18 quid for it online, people are going to send us digital tho because people are lazy and want it in front of them straight away, cba going to the shops, I think we be lucky if there a high street in 20 years, rant over haha
Unfortunately, convenience has become king. A lot of people don't seem to understand what they are giving up by adopting digital media and subscription models 🤦♂️
The reality is the market will cater to the masses (people who want convenient digital downloads) rather than the small group of hobbyists that have an emotional attachment to physical media, it’s just the way of the world. Fortunately, the physical media collecting community is big enough that we can also be catered for
Yup you are 100% right mate a lot of it boils down to convenience and people wanting things without leaving their homes.. Hopefully I'm wrong but the future is looking grim!
Even if it's a brand new game I don't get how its £60 in the shop and £60 digitally. When they aren't paying for a disc, a case, transport to the shop and the retail shop isnt paying rent and making their profit. Digital should be 20% cheaper when brand new compared to digital.
💯 with you on the digital stores being able to price games at whatever they want once physical is no longer an option. I’m hoping with the clamber for the disk drives for PS5 they won’t go all digital for the PS6
Great video again, mate !! You are right about the digital games it's a shame that people don't see it!! Random question, but what crt tv do you use ? Also, what's the best size to get ? Thank you
Thanks mate! I use a Sony Trinitron and it's 32 inch. with regards to size it's entirely up to you but be prepared the big ones are heavy. I had to get a friend round to lift mine upstairs as I couldnt carry it on my own lol
Mitch in the USA 96% of all new games sold are now digital, it's such a shame. Me I went out of my way this week to buy Indiana Jones physical copy despite having Game Pass where it's included. Physical copies all the way for me!
Couldn’t agree more about physical media… you’re only renting the digital version and it’s often more expensive! Doesn’t make any sense! Nice addition to the collection, maybe do a video on the cardboard you’re looking for?
100% agree with everything you’ve said Mitch I love retro collecting aswell but it’s getting frightening they don’t want us to own anything in the near future 🤨
I'm 100% with you, I'm always having disagreements with people in the the comments sections on the pros and cons of digital media vs Physical. It just makes no sense to me, when I go on the PSN store I laugh at the prices of most of the games on there, and this is when they're on sale, they're even more extortionate when they're not on sale, sometimes triple the prices I see on ebay. Another problem is you can't sell digital games, so you can pay 100's, maybe even 1000's for them over the course of a console generation, and they're basically worthless, if I sold my PS4 collection today I could probably expect at least £500.
Exactly that mate I see it all the time and I work with people who can't understand why I buy physical games. That is exactly what Sony and the game producers want. They don't want anyone else earning money off their games but them.
Spot on just picked up a PS5 to go with my PS4 and PS3, there was no way I was going to get the digital version and your right they will drive it in that direction and then nail your hat on when you have no other alternative. Physical media for me is the only way....just waiting right now for Ragnarok to drop through the door in PS5. Great content as usual, looking forward to the start of the car boot season doesn't happen here until March. I noted someone mentioned lighter fluid for sticker removal that's what ive always used as well, really cheap and evaporates really quickly leaving the glue rubbery so it can be pushed off the surface.
You know that mate! we will see their true colours once it goes fully digital. Me too mate hoping to get to a hard standing car boot either this week or next but we'll see with the weather.
Was doing a spring clean and found a box with loads of old DVDs and games. Some of the films are not even currently available to watch on any streaming services in the U.K. or America! I cancelled my PSN subscription for the mean time also to focus on playing some 1 player offline games. Will miss online for a bit but sick of paying into a system that’s designed to rip us off
Yes mate it pays to take a break sometimes. Save the pennies and come back to online play when you're ready for it. Personally I hardly ever play online I much prefer story based 1 player games now
Physical always better than digital and it always works out cheaper, I picked up call of duty black ops 2 on the 360 other day for a pound from a charity shop can't imagine how much it will be on the store
I’m 100% a physical collector and worry about physical games disappearing as it would be an absolute travesty with the prices PlayStation etc charge for digital versions of games. One that comes to kid for me personally is black ops 4 I got it for £3 in cash converters physically et it’s still £40 digitally on psn ludicrous pricing 😂
Im a physical collector. But going digital wont change the quality of games like it has with movies. Devs get a higher % from a digital sale than physical. But in the movie business they get less and lose all the dvd/bluray sales money meaning they are less likely to gamble
I'm ngl i collect physical media, I have a video game and DVD collection. But I do also watch movies on Netflix and I buy digitally on ps store and have ps+ I choose whatever is cheaper. So if a game say in cex is 50quid but it's on sale on ps store for 20quid ima buy it digitally
I've said this for years. If playstation, Xbox and Nintendo go fully digital. I'm going to pc. It's cheaper and free to play online. Also Sony and Xbox are bringing stuff to pc. Sooo that's what I'll be doing. In my opinion the reason why non collectors like digital is that you don't have to store it and you don't have to go anywhere. Just press a button and it's done.
I'm with you tbh mate I have a PC and enjoy playing games on it but I enjoy consoles as well as I get to collect the physical games. If it goes fully digital i'd revert to PC. Yup 100% mate it's just too convenient for some people
Absolutely against digital media, certainly with video games. Buy physical and it’s yours forever. Unfortunately we live in a lazy society now where everything is available without moving but sadly its because younger generation have only experienced that, they wont know any different and physical will faze out due to lack of demand. The only hope is the resurgence of LPs and could this happen with gaming but i cant see it myself. Its one of the reasons i collect but i love the hunt and to find a game i want, once ive got it, its mine forever. Told the misses and daughter, you can sell them when i’m brown bread, (They are cockneys so know the term) until then they stay on my shelf. Digital i purchase will disappear, when you cop it, at least they can make a few quid after I’m gone with physical. Bit morbid but it is something to consider when you have large top end collection
You're 100% right mate as time goes on the demand will change it's most likely us millennials that are clinging on to it! I'm the same though I've told my mrs all these games are either my retirement fund of my funeral costs hahah
Nobody will be playing modern games apart from a few select titles like we’ve seen the last few years. Gaming industry is on a decline due to them squeezing every penny out of the consumer. Terrible times mate
As an Xbox collector I suffer more with things going digital, a lot of games get released digital only on Xbox but get physical releases on switch and playstation. Microsoft want everyone to go digital unfortunately. Some games do come out on disc for Xbox but only in the us due to a much bigger audience compared to Europe and UK. Tomb raider remastered and the new Yakuza game coming out next month is a few examples. No physical versions for pal and them 2 are huge franchises. 😐
Anyone who games with the modern consoles are mad in my eyes, I couldn't even play my PS4 , the downloads alone I could complete a game on another console 🤣 The consoles are going to kill gaming, games take way too long to make now for the consoles and the ones that do come out on said dates are rushed etc. The downloads are just ridiculous and take way too long. My nephew's 10/17 year olds and their mates don't talk about games like I did when I was growing up , they don't care and I think in 10years consoles will be gone for good myself.
Yeah it's a big annoyance for me as well. I do love my PS5 but you really have to plan ahead especially if you want to play a new game with downloads and installs etc its not just a case of getting home and plug and play lol Yup kids are a different breed now it's all fortnite and tiktok lol
What all companies are doing is making people lazy intentionally everything at end of your fingers I have ps5 and decided not to invest anything games into it so not been on for months stopping at ps4 downwards and I get rid of ps5 digital rip of is not for me
Physical will always and forever be the best 🫶 However...there is a place for digital, especially with sales. Generally, digital is usually cheaper, that Battlefield 1 is an absolute shocker!!!!!! Never saw that Scaface sleeve before.
Sorry, but digital is rarely cheaper, certainly not on PSN, not even when they're on sale! I was on there only the other day shaking my head at the prices... the sale prices that is, games I've paid £5 for years ago still more expensive even when on sale.
@RetroGamesBoy78 majority of the time stuff is cheaper. Especially with sales n deals. Switch is great for it. A great example I will use is, Castlevania Requiem ( SotN & RoB) is currently £3.19. Alternatively you could go for them individually on original hardware. I know what I would rather pay. But I gotta be clear, Physical is the bestjust saying that digital does serve a purpose 👍
@@gib84gaming4 yeah, that's why I said rarely, because there are examples such as the one you give here, but this example is of a game that is sold physically as a limited collector edition, its not a mass release, I think 2500 copies per system?
@@RetroGamesBoy78 lol, I was talking about Ps1 (SotN) & MegaDrive (Rondo) pretty sure that would set you back a pretty penny. Physical>Digital (but digital is okay too lol)
@@gib84gaming4 i'm not sure you can bring rare retro into the argument, I mean even buying the physical PS4/Switch editions are considerably cheaper, and btw Rondo is on PC Engine not MD.
If you purchase physical media 2nd hand, less money is going to the companies. That £2 is going to CEX not Sony or the producer. The film and music industries declined as new physical media sales fell off a cliff. People aren't going to be paying £50-60 etc for a new game these days when there are options. Your argument is flawed.
That's the way of the world though, should BMW get a cut of every second hand sale of a car thats sold? I don't think the solution is devs and producers need to earn more money..
Fully agree with you on digital media, if the next generation of games are digital only, i will probably stop buying new games :/

Clippers lighter fluid from poundland is amazing for removing stickers.
Yes i've heard that as well!
