Mr Shelley likes to be different, that’s for sure, but 20-inch booms on his hinged stiff rigs? Would you be happy to chuck them out? Jim’s had loads on them, and we’re not about to argue with the big fella.

That’s it mate. Be different. I use bright pink leads. Now people say will that not spook the carp and my answer is. Does a bright pink pop up scare them 😂 I want them to find my lead because I know that my rig is 5 inches away from that lead. It’s a danger zone for them 😂
Easier to track it through the air too
@@matthewjackson2853yes mate. You got to think outside the box when fishing. A lot don’t do that
I tie my pva mesh bags to the lead and that works really well
I always think differently never be a sheep do what you think is right
When I tight my PVA bag I drop it immediately in the water. Then I cast it.
Be different guy's.
I don’t think anyone can question Jim’s rigs he’s a loving carp catching legend
I dont use that elastic old bollocks but a 20inch boom on a stiff hinge is killer
You can catch a carp on a size 8 tied straight to mono , with a single grain of corn
I just can’t get my head around such a long rig - but we have to think progressively and I will certainly give it some thought. Uncle J is probably one of the best big fish anglers out there so won’t knock it until I give it a go when the conditions suit!
Just started using longer rigs at my club lake and have caught everytime so far
That's why he's one of the best
@unwoke9289 you tell him then 🤣
@unwoke9289not the case whatsoever
I want to see it on the Underwater videos please
very good edge i seem to pick up the bigger fish
Started using this in 1998 at the time I had my pb common
What if the ponds 3ft deep max?
It’s not a zig you simple bream catching machine
Nice one uncle Jim
If his rigs work well then job done.
Fair play to him
Theres not even an anti tangle sleeve on it what happens if it all twists up in flight
Stiff boom
Now walk around your local carp lake and see everyone casting this rig😂
I use 4” ronnie rigs and hes using a 20” lol 😂
Same as a long soft hook link Nobody does that anymore..it's all booms.
How can they be he catches everything absolute engine on the mount Rushmore of carp angles
Any cast more than 20 wraps is a nightmare
Not if you feather the lead
Rigs are only too long if they don't catch fish. If it's safe and it works, it's a good rig.
He don't use a 20inch boom section lol
lol @whatdidusay99
Haha I can't see it, Jimmy leg puller, there's just no way that banks more fish haha
Jim has been swearing by this long set up since the magazine days 13 years ago
As long as its presented its fishing🤷
If a zig catches them anything will
If they make him happy then they are good rigs ...
If they catch fish ...
Even better
If your saw my mates rigs, you would then know any old piece of crap catches carp 😂😂
At the end of the day, Jim Shelley has a name in the game for a reason
I used to fish 7" rigs but now i fish 12/14 " rigd and my catch rate has upped as a result.
Have you had more bites or have you just not lost much fish? Currently sat night fishing at the moment and ive got some longer spinners tied up but not sure wether to switch to them mate. Im pretty new to carp fishing.
@KieranDurrant personally i think I've had more bites as a result mate and to be fare haven't lost a fish in a couple of years now .. one thing you need to do regardless of length is keep your hooks pinpoint sharp. Check them every time you go to put them out .. I would say have one with a long boom and one with a short and see witch dose better for you, mate .. that's what I done with my bottom bait rigs and found I was catching a lot more on my longer rigs then the size I used to fish with so stuck with the longer ones as a result and there are a place for short rigs though mate ... all depends on the lake bed. All that sort of stuff, if you're unshore, you can always go back to one long and one short to see what picks you up the bites ... the other thing is water craft mate always have a look for the fish before you set up yes the my move aroud especially in the summer and spring but if you find them your in a lot better of a position to catch them ..
@@tomschwer4294 Thank you for your reply mate. I appreciate it!
Yer gym but couldn’t catch the big girl at Buchan park in Crawley asked a man out for diner to catch her non”ce
Just caught the biggest shark using this thanks Jim
Haha😅😂
Casting that will be a nightmare...
No problem at all buddy. Feather it down on impact with the water so the bait kicks out, the lead can plummet into whatever and the bead will be high enough after testing to keep him fishing effectively
And they can move 5ft before they engage a lead. He'll be done left right and centre. This has to be a piss take.
😂😊
Use longer ones in weed 👍👍
good in heavy weed ? would it not just sit up 20" above the weed like a zig
It works for jim so no
