I've been training for IELTS Academic since May and my Reading score is now about 8-8,5. Here are a few tips for IELTS Academic Reading 1. Make sure to mark keywords and information words. By information words I mean words that when read give you an overall picture of what the paragraph is about. 2. If you see paragraphs that have a letter (Paragraph A, Paragraph B and so on) without even looking at the questions yet, after reading each paragraph make a heading for it by yourself. 3. Not always, but in most cases adjectives are what you need to highlight. In some cases, there are dates, names, places, etc which also need to be highlighted. 4. Highlight words like "argues" or "found", "suggested" (for instance, "Research found..." or "The survey results suggested..."). First word shows attitude of a person, which is pretty common in IELTS Reading, and the second word shows result of a study, survey, research, etc. 5. In "True/False/Not Given questions remember that False is the case when the information in the question FULLY CONTRADICTS the information in the passage. When reading the question, ask yourself "Is the information in the passage the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of this?" If yes, the answer is False. If not, it may be Not Given. Hope these help, and if you have any suggestions feel free to write about them. Thanks! And also, remember *PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT* Edit: If any of you struggle with map questions in Listening, I left a few tips on that in the replies as well!
