Taron Egerton played Johnny here and sang an Elton John song. He then had Elton John in his movie Kingsman 2. Then he played Elton John in the movie Rocketman.
At this point, Taron Eagerton was still being considered for the roll for Elton John in Rocketman, so they changed the song he was originally supposed to sing to I'm Still Standing, and made it his audition. He nailed it, and they hired him practically on the spot.
Not only that, but Taron AND Elton acted together in Kingsman: The Golden Circle. He went from singing an Elton John song in SING, to acting in a movie with Elton a year later, AND THEN he went on to play Elton two years after that. Wild.
I didn't like this that much when I first saw it but man did it grow on me. For starters, this version of "I'm Still Standing" is one of the best musical sequences ever put to film. The way it builds along with Johnny's dad realizing he's been a fool, culminating with him pulling on the bars in time with the music. The magnitude of it all, it's good stuff. But ultimately, this movie's greatest strength is that it's, ironically, such a human story. All the characters are incredibly complex with a wide array of motivations. It's about following your dreams and the power of art. To this day I still haven't seen the sequel, but I appreciate the first one so much.
8:09 This gag doesn't get half as much appreciation as it deserves. It may be that too many people who watch this movie aren't actually old enough to even know who Seal is. The more obvious joke would have been to actually have a seal sing the song, but the fact that they chose a sheep to bleat it out instead, is just genius. 😀

Automatic likes for Sing reactions, Johnny is by far my favorite charcter, I hope you guys hit Sing 2 as well. That one said "Oh Sing had a budget? Hold my beer and watch this" :) Amazing reaction guys.
Much like "Across the Universe" it's more of an Homage to Musicals than a musical in its own right. But that is not to say it is bad. In many ways, it is better because the score is made up of a medley of many already popular and amazing songs.
You guys picked a good movie to watch, and I'm glad you liked it. Your faces during the auditions and the final acts are funny and awesome! Please react to the sequel.
Then here are some musicals (a mixture of good ones, cult classics, and ones that have a divided audience): "Cabaret", "Doctor Dolittle" (1967), "Ferngully: the Last Rainforest", Grease", "Hairspray", "Holiday Inn" (you'll have to cut out the Lincoln's Birthday scene), "Into the Woods", "Les Miserables", "Mary Poppins", "My Little Pony: The Movie" (don't need to watch the cartoon series to understand what's going on), "Newsies", "Oklahoma", "Phantom of the Opera","Rocketman", "Singing in the Rain", and "The Sound of Music".
Adwin is an exact twin to my Lilyann. You are lucky to have one of the most beautiful puppers in the world. Love your outlook on films. If it's not fun, it's not worth doing.
This was one of those films I watched thinking I'd make fun of how bad it was.. like the Emoji movie... or Angry Birds. And it's so damn good I kind of wish I had seen it in theater. Lots of character arcs, lots of great characters, and so much subversive humor throughout. Great reaction guys!
Sing. One of my all time favorites. Absolutely love it. I’m gonna have to watch it again myself. It’s been a long time since I last seen it. And I’m sure you guys gonna react to Sing 2.
According to IMDB what Buster Moon said in Japanese to the five Japanese red pandas roughly translate to- "Your routine is horrible, your footwork stinks like feet". It's possible he may have wanted to say that "You are in my show, sleep well and start fresh tomorrow".
I find this movie so underrated, but I think it’s mainly due to the stylized look of the animals. They’re very “people” looking without actually looking humanized because they play into the animal differences each one has.
Second one is, imo, even better. It's got some parts that drag a bit but I freaking LOVE one of the new characters (no spoilers), and there are some really fun ongoing arcs from some of the existing characters.
Huge variety of music genres in this movie. I love having a variety. I love how you guys had a based take on the father pig off the bat. Most people would talk about how lousy he was for not supporting his wife or recognising her talent. Not that he wasnt wrong for that. Still you guys asked the important question of what job he has to do to support such a large family and its no wonder he would be so exhuasted. In the end things worked out for them anyways. P.s: ape reigns supreme. Even in musicals lol.
I'm not a big musical guy either, but Here's my 4 favorite live action musical movies, State fair (1945), Singing in the rain (1952), Fiddler on the roof (1971), The best little whorehouse in texas (1982), would be fun seeing you react to some of them.
🐶 Adwin looks like a fine gentleman, I'm not sure why someone would think he's not. Maybe because he's not acting like a demon like most chihuahuas. 😆 (They're only demons if you raise them that way.)
I never understood why Johnny left his dad to make rehearsal. He could have still made the show if he missed a rehearsal, especially after the camel got taken out. Missing that rehearsal wouldn't have stopped him from competing.
sing and sing 2 are the best illumination films in my opinion! i really enjoyed your reaction, id love to see you watch the sequel! its even better if you ask me
Such a good film and tbh I'm the same I'm not keen on musicals but I have started making exceptions for some like recently I gave Wonka a chance and I thought the story and songs were brilliant but yeah hope the next upload is sing 2
Honestly, if you want to react to a sub-par musical, I could suggest "strange magic". It's not actually a bad film, but I think it would have been better if it weren't a musical. A lot of the songs in that movie kind of feel forced, and none of them were actually made _for_ the film. I mean, Sing uses pre-existing songs too, but there's an in-universe explanation for the songs and they're adequately different from the original versions. And in all seriousness, I think if you guys reacted to a musical that you _didn't_ like, it would just allow you to appreciate the ones you guys _do_ like that much more.
Hi guys! I have a suggestion for you. A western entitled Silverado. Jeff Goldblum, Kevin Kline, Danny Glover and one of Kevin Costner’s first movies. Excellent film. Thanks for your time!
Thanks for doing this reaction it’s been a while since I seen this movie it feels good to watch it again especially with you 2. Plus My asthma went bad again this weekend I needed inhaler treatment but I’m good again still it’s nice to have something to keep my mind off the asthma stuff and have a fun laugh in the process. Keep doing what you’re doing I love these reactions.
Your dog reminds me of my Chihuahua Benny who passed about 6 years ago at the age of 12.. I bet I can name some musicals you wouldn't like because they're older. My favorite is Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. Don't worry. I won't tear you to pieces 8f you don't like it. Not many pieces anyway. 😉
Evening, OctoKrool. Just wanted to write this real quick, I loved y'all's reaction to " SING" I'm hoping you guys do the second movie:" SING 2" some time In the near future I would love it if you did. Destiny dictates, does it not??😅

This movie was his audition.
I didn’t actually know that. Nice fact.
What Buster Moon said in Japanese to the five Japanese red pandas roughly translated to "Your routine is horrible, your footwork stinks like feet."
That explains why they were mad
I'M STILL STANDING!!!!
YEAH YEAH YEAH!!!!
My favorite part!
Same lol

Crazy how the voice of Johnny would eventually play Elton John in Rocketman, and both sang “I’m Still Standing”. Coincidence? I think NOT!
True Although It's The Same Actor
@@Kovy2003bud, we know it’s the same actor… it’s literally what OP said…
I will add to that, this movie was like his audition to the role of Elton

Rosita must have an engineer degree and too much experience to be able to construct that mechanism, and all in one night xd

new head canon: Rosita is the pig that shows up in Zootopia, during the DMV scene, getting her picture taken.
It does'nt make sense because both movies are made by different companies.
