Though I am also upset by how simple this was and how complicated I was making everything xD
Rigging is one of those things that I feel gets overthought lol this one isn’t perfect but it gets the job done!

In general it comes down to locking down the transforms and rotations in certain directions

You can this is just a quick and dirty way of doing it using constraints
