I've probably commented on every video about this storm, but I was it IUK when this one tore through about half a mile away... it had been a hot, humid, sunny afternoon but then I watched a storm roll in from the upstairs of the library, thinking it was just going to be some ordinary storm. Before long, someone poked me on the shoulder and said there was a tornado coming, I got a warning on my phone that it had been upgraded to a "dangerous" and "destructive" tornado... and I was in shelter a good while before it came through. The power flickered quite a bit and I heard someone with a live update that the Starbucks by Markland Mall was destroyed, probably not long after it happened. After leaving campus that day, I saw the damage that started just a block north of campus with some major tree limbs down. Up north was a different story... so much destruction. Crazy day...
My roommate used to live & work in Indianapolis at Avon Yard (which is now owned by CSX Transportation Railroad) as a conductor for CSX Transportation.
I work in downtown Indianapolis. I left my work right as the tornado warning came out. I headed out of the parking garage and to my grandparents house which was about a 10 minute drive away. I took shelter at my grand parents house. My grandparents house took a slight hit from the tornado that was spotted at 21st and Ritter. Really minor damage if that. Just a chipped window.
I was taking my drivers test right as this all hit. I was on the road for about 2 minutes before the lady starting freaking out because our phones were buzzing with weather alerts. I passed it and we left the BMV as they were telling people to take shelter
i was 11 at the time and remember being in the elementary school in the heights they kept us on lockdown till probably 4 that afternoon then when i got home thats when the other two hit and a tree fell down it was a crazy few days afterwards
That was scary I was in my school when it happened I didn't get home till 4:45 and then the next thing you know it's a darker back at my house we saw for funnel clouds actually we were outside during them I was crying and I was really scared but my mom said go in the bathroom but I didn't listen to her because I wanted her
In my opinion, they are more worried about the damage that has happened than what's going on at the time. They have plenty of time to show damage after the event is over. Why do it while the warnings are still active?

Why aren't they using Indianapolis radar for velocity?
If the radar they used was closer to the storm they would want to use that. The farther away the storm is from the radar it’s harder to see.

@@supertornadogun1690 to some degree you are correct. However, the Indianapolis radar in the north Webster radar are about equal distance from Kokomo.
