i really like what paul did with the first riff, instead of following the riff note for note he gives it more room to breath giving it a cool dynamic. Then later in the song he goes in full on giving it more power. Nothing crazy or new its just something I like.
oh man, I always loved it when that last chorus hit. Couldn't tell why until I heard the bass stem. This arrangement decision is definitely part of why the song works so well. Paul ruled.
See alot of you saying this was bad, but im going to defend the band. They recorded this album to no click, and all of them together in one room doing live takes. So what that means is that the whole band played the song as many times necessary together to get a good/close to perfect track. Most people these days dont even play bass on their albums, they track bass from a robot/computer.
Paul actually used a stingray on the First Album very likely. He got the Warwick Deal Afterwards so this could BE thumb or Corvette. But IT Sounds really Like a Music man
0seconds he was really good, listen to bitchslap and confessions. The reason the timing is off is because back in the day they didn’t use a click track.
It works perfect in the final mix. Some instruments aren't meant to stand out by themselves, they are meant to do their place in the mix. Sorry you're too stupid to understand that.
That bass really tied the room together. I mean song.
Yeah? Well, y'know, that's just, like, your opinion man.
@@schnozz87 yeah? well, y’know, that’s just, like, the truth man.
@@schnozz87 you seem pretty grumpy, need a hug
Just don't take a pomeranian bowling and you're fine

Yeah that final drop at 2:55 where he just goes full metal jacket and mimics the opening guitar riff is punchy as fuck
That bass fuzz at the end is fucking rad.
Yes man
THE TONE, THE PLAYING, THE BASS SOUND, THAT SANDY DISTORTION, THAT EQ. PERFECT TONE EVER
Still trying to figure how to get the tone
awsome track.
SLIPKNOT 4 EVER! Rest In Peace Paul!
Rip paul gray

Just who the fuck are you
damn so much fret buzz on the a string lol
what a string?
EarBlasterStudios the f# string you know the 3rd string
i thought the 3rd string was b
EarBlasterStudios It is B if I'm right it's B F# B E
Not if you start from the high string which seem to be the case here
awesome-increible
I was wrong all along for that intro line, as I played the same note as guitar’s.
me too, it would sound so much better too tho.
anyone knows how to achieve such sound?
Higher strings kinda make it sound like a Stingray

Is this thumb nt?
Bolt on.
This is someone else. The timing is off..
Paul wasn't a god like bassist. Just stop.
Also, it's not recorded to a click track, and also also, isolated tracks rarely sounds that good.
1:03 oof
Play it to the original and come back and tell me it’s out of time

Listen carefully and you can hear parts of the song in the background.
My God, this is awful. Is this really from the final cut of the mix? I mean, I believe it, but damn. It's even worse than I expected.
I like it
Paul wasn't meant to stand out, he was meant to tie everything together, and to mix well with the guitar and drums.
I'd like to see you do a better job.
Bro it's great😭
