- In this video, we will see some DART 8500 and 8520 Class EMUs as well as 22000 Class DMU number 22019 at Greystones station.
First we see units 8629+8529+8530+8630 and 8639+8539+8540+8640 departing on the 14:20 to Howth.
Next we see 22019 arriving on the 13:45 Connolly - Rosslare Europort, then we see it departing in the next clip.
Finally we see 8603+8503+8504+8604 and 8632+8532+8531+8631 arriving on the 13:42 from Malahide, this would then work the 15:20 back.
Footage was taken on the 1/9/24.
With the DART service being so efficient now, I’ll never understand why they ever stopped passenger only ferries coming into Dun Laoire from Holyhead and indeed from Liverpool - living in Manchester myself, coming home on the ferry into North Wall from Holyhead is such a pain, which is why, if I have to stay in Dublin when I come home, I try to choose a hotel or B&B that is as close as possible to the DART line - the recent Irish government proposals to extend the DART service onto the M3 Parkway line and eventually onto Navan in the next few years look very promising, as I have extended family in Dunshaughlin - I’d love to see the high-speed rail tunnel under the Irish Sea from Holyhead to Dublin happening, although with the failure of HS2 here in the U.K. this looks much less likely
They are planning to extend it out to M3 Parkway, Maynooth, Drogheda, and Hazelhatch in the near future.
@ciandaly6214 yes but Drogheda is going to be happening first and I think then Maynooth is the next line to have the dart extended to
I guess the government decided Dun Laoghaire was too close to Dublin or something.
Anyways I have suggested adding more stations when they extend the DART to those areas like Bettystown and Ardgillan.
@@joshuaW5621 on the M3 Parkway line extension to Navan, a station in my native Dunshaughlin is vital, to replace the old Navan line through Batterstown, Drumree and Dunsany - already on the M3 motorway, people won’t use it because of the toll and the private car traffic through Dunshaughlin Village is worse than ever at rush hours, as Dunshaughlin has become very built up in recent years, as it has both a Lidl and an Aldi store there, as well as the Gables Shopping Centre with SuperValu - I’m totally reliant on public transport here in Manchester, but Dunshaughlin Village can be very unpleasant at rush hour, even on the Bus Éireann coaches to and from Dublin, which I saw for myself on my last visit home in October 2022 off the ferry from Holyhead into Dublin Port (North Wall) on Irish Ferries
