Can I assume that these characters are both being controlled by something similar to a tool-assisted-speedrun (TAS). If they aren't, I would assume that whomever is controlling them goes through a lot of controllers.
0:39 was absolute genius. They say the point of making TAS plays is entertainment, and honestly, this is the most entertaining TAS I have _ever_ seen. Amazing job.
Beyond the special effects that were added afterwards, this is 100% real Brawl. With inhuman stick movements, you can DI incredible ways, and all of the things that look like they wouldn't work and make no sense, are actually very real.
This technically is the peak of how good you can play in brawl since its normal brawl. I would love to see people being able to do this in the later years. But sadly it will never be possible without TAS...
Hitlag - The 'freeze' that occurs between the attacker and the victim when a hit connects (sweetspotted, powerful moves usually have larger amounts of hitlag). Hitstun - The time during which the victim cannot input commands after having been hit This is what prevents you from instantly double jumping back to the stage after having took a powerful hit at high percentages. This is also what allows true combos to be inescapable due to hitstun preventing jumps, shields or airdodges etc.
the 1-up thing was really interesting. it should be an optional battle mechanism, so that if you deliver enough damage / hits to an enemy within a certain amount of time after each hit, you'd get healed
TAS = Tool Assisted Speedrun/Superplay. They used a special program to time every single input to the perfect frame, and you get THIS. So technically, everything you see here in the game is actually possible, but is impossible for a human being to be able to time everything to the nearest frame possible.
@thefinalbagel True man. People don't understand that Mario's Final Smash is actually a move directly from that very same game... Hopefully we AT LEAST get forest maze. Great fighting song.
No, hitlag is the correct term, and is the period in which you can smash DI. Falcon's knee, Zelda's heel, and Samus' charged power beam are good examples. Hitstun is the time between hitlag and when you can perform an action again (and where you can DI regularly). And all of this can technically be done in regular brawl, especially if you have a controller with a macro (spam C-Stike right like 30-60 times per second). There's no hacks or glitches, just a game pushed to its limits.
Only Captain Falcon can tech the bombs in sudden death with such ease, and taunt between one of them, no less Entertaining, and funny as hell man. Props to ya, make more plz XD
Also, "edit your inputs on individual frames with a hexeditor - much easier to do crazy glitch-like stuff (like massive DI straight one direction to another)" -polypolyman- meaning it's not hacked. There.
@FxckCensors This is normal Brawl, only with some special effects added to give it some extra flare. This is how Brawl can be played with perfect control. But no human mind/fingers can play this quickly.
Well, not really. The hitlag freezes both characters for a few frames (sometimes around 20-30 frames for attacks like zelda's bair) and doesn't actually contribute anything towards pulling off combos. Hitstun is the time in which you can't control your character after taking a hit, which lets the attacker chain together multiple attacks whilst keeping you in hitstun so you can't escape. The 'mini' hitstuns from jabs and weak attacks are usually referred to as "Flinching" too, if that helps.
@FishamanP According to tournament rules, Falcon won. His percentage was lower at the time of the draw. But if you ask me, I think everybody viewing this won.
Yep, and I won't even bother trying to explain here because it'll take well over the 500 character limit, sorry about that but you can still try searching for it on the internet? Maybe...
The fights are generally choreographed. what TAS does is it allows you to play in super slow motion or in frame by frame so you can do combos and awesome dual deaths perfectly. It still requires an amount of skill and knowledge of the game. but this is NOT a real match. A normal match has much more reserve and attacks that don't hit.
The knee has a ridiculous amount of hitstun which means lots of time for DI 0:20 is entirely possible provided you can move the control stick fully from 1 side to another in like 1/60 of a second
OMFGosh! This gave me the true lesson of life. This Killed me 5 times! THIS IS THE MOST EPIC TAS EVER! THIS IS THE PORN OF SMASH! THIS IS JUST THE ANSWER TO ALL THE PROBLEMS! THIS IS ok i'm done with the caps. :D :P
Which means it's been glitched up so you can DI like that MK Player or edited so you can DI like him. Either way, it's things or DIing you cant do in the actual game without adding something to it or editing it.
The real reason why Captain Falcon is bottom tier in Brawl is because he was using -Falconfinity% of his power. So this is what will happen if Captain Falcon decides to use at least 0.0001% of his power. (BTW, Captain Falcon's power doesn't end at 100%)
How does Meta knight hold down B and stay invisible like that for the longest time ever? TAS should only rework the frames and save data about it. It shouldn't interfere with its moves, so the down b move pulled off by meta knight should still be able to done normally.
Not quite. DI of that caliber is entirely possible in a regular match. I've fought people who've managed to pull it off once or twice in tournament matches. Obviously, though, you'd have to have inhuman reflexes to be able to pull that off all the time. The thing with this video is, like gouki was saying, that it was essentially slowed to infinity, allowing the player to have consistent god-like reflexes. And no, hitlag is not a technique. Hitlag is the pause when the knee connects.
I love the intro, I think pre-match stare downs would be an incredible addition to SSB4.
How interesting...
welcome to smash ultimate
Dear god...this is why lvl 10 CPU's were not made.
Smash Remix wants to have an chat with you
I lost it on how he landed that first falcon punch
Can I assume that these characters are both being controlled by something similar to a tool-assisted-speedrun (TAS). If they aren't, I would assume that whomever is controlling them goes through a lot of controllers.
Oops, didn't see that part.
***** moron
0:39 was absolute genius.
They say the point of making TAS plays is entertainment, and honestly, this is the most entertaining TAS I have _ever_ seen. Amazing job.
Best brawl match ever! Mad props for spending so much time on doing this.
I love how this got over 30k vies in 3 days. Now THIS is what I call a combo video.
Beyond the special effects that were added afterwards, this is 100% real Brawl. With inhuman stick movements, you can DI incredible ways, and all of the things that look like they wouldn't work and make no sense, are actually very real.

Most
Epic
Falcon
Punch
Ever
It's an ingame technique done by mashing B. Because it's a TAS it can press B 30 times a second, so it can stay invisible for ages like that.
Super Smash Bros. Z
0:59 where can i find this glass breaking effect? I need it
Holy shot TAS fights never seize to amaze me

The defenition of SDI
Copious amounts of SDI in a TAS _when done well_ make anything awesome. Flat-out.
the 1-up thing was really interesting.
it should be an optional battle mechanism, so that if you deliver enough damage / hits to an enemy within a certain amount of time after each hit, you'd get healed
The falcon punches were amazing. When I saw the first one I was like that falcon punch came out of no were lol and the second one was just well timed.
That was the best thing ive seen all day!!! Epic and hilarious!!
That was hilarious hax! Also, it seems I need to favorite another of Daisuke Ishiwatari's great music!
0:41 was the second best falcon punch I've ever seen.
Love that movement by Falcon
TAS = Tool Assisted Speedrun/Superplay. They used a special program to time every single input to the perfect frame, and you get THIS. will a replay file from a tas work on an actual wii? or will you have to use it on dolphin
Yes, itll work
0:40
I did NOT see that coming! That was a beautiful FALCON PAAWWWCCCHHH!
@thefinalbagel True man. People don't understand that Mario's Final Smash is actually a move directly from that very same game... Hopefully we AT LEAST get forest maze. Great fighting song.
So... guilty gear and melee had a baby and then gave that baby cocaine.
This fight was Shigeru Miyamoto VS Chuck Norris. Both equally epic in the end.
@360ftwgaming That's why they put "TAS" its tool assisted. the tool they used is in the description.
@CaptainGameguy Frame-perfect Smash Directional Influence.
This is probably the real ending for the Subspace emmisary
This is like if Arc System Works made a goddamn Smash Bros. game.
I'll buy a million.

Never thought I'd like a Brawl vid..
Well done sir.. =D
Only Captain Falcon can tech the bombs in sudden death with such ease, and taunt between one of them, no less
Entertaining, and funny as hell man. Props to ya, make more plz XD
Meta Knight never got his extra life...
@Link500ACS Don't forget that you would need the ability to calculate, within your heads, exactly where every bomb will appear in sudden death.
Why do meta knight's skills appear different during sudden match? Is this normal or part of TAS/editing?
Mind blown. To pieces.
Also, "edit your inputs on individual frames with a hexeditor - much easier to do crazy glitch-like stuff (like massive DI straight one direction to another)" -polypolyman- meaning it's not hacked. There.

HOLY SHIT that was intense!! epic editing too. the battle must go on! more please :)
Holy shit those ukemis were flawless!
This is what the Wii U smash bros is going to be like.
that was the best ssbb fight i have ever seen
Guilty Gear beat counter!
Just seeing that made me happy.
This was utterly glorious.
0:37 GREATEST FALCON PUNCH EVER
It's hard to believe all this is actually possible. Not like we'd ever be able to attain this kind of craziness though.
0:30 someone's been playing SMB3 a lot
in SMB1 there's also 500 and 5000 and in later games 100 isn't in the enemy point chain
nothing can convay how epic this was
I...just...wha...how...
MY BRAIN! IT IS FULL OF STARS!
It's a TAS, so it's not human performance.
That only makes it that much more fitting for this duo, though.
ssbb is one of my favourite games
Yep, and I won't even bother trying to explain here because it'll take well over the 500 character limit, sorry about that but you can still try searching for it on the internet? Maybe...
No, it's someone controlling these characters but at around 1 frame per second. No computers involved (Except the one he uploaded the video with)
Hey look everyone, it's Ally's CF & MK at Apex 2012.
His Down+B move does it, and I believe with the c-stick you can stay invisible longer while doing it but I'm not 100% sure.
Ladies and gentlemen, the new generation of DBZ.
Trippy...
TAS is the only thing that makes no-item matches fun to watch.
The knee has a ridiculous amount of hitstun which means lots of time for DI
0:20 is entirely possible provided you can move the control stick fully from 1 side to another in like 1/60 of a second
DAT FALCON PUNCH 0:40
Oh C'mon Captain Falcon stop holding back...
That hasn't stopped him before.
these are two guys i never want to meet
TAS is just too good.
Dang, nice job. I liked the "SHOW ME YA MOVES" text xD
And this is the Awesome Thing at Tas
Holy shit these guys are AMAZING
its a tas i dont think you can do this normally
I know but the amount of skill required to pull this off even thuogh it's a tas is just awesome
i know this guy is the best taser out there
@Worthikidsno2 It's played/recorded frame-by-frame then the vid is played in real time
That was the greatest mod ever.
Is it you that made it? If yes, I think you should do a Ganondorf VS. Meta Knight (The worst against the best)
I do ''get with the times.'' I knew about Hitstun sice Melee and knew about it before I even got Brawl. I understand it already.
@Link500ACS Thank you...also the physics seem altered...has the game been altered aside from the input commands?
OH MY GOD XD. There are just some things players are not meant to do. THIS is definitely one of them.
My favorite part was when Falcon tripped, leading to MK's combo. What a great game.
This isn't TAS. This is Captain Falcon and Metaknight actually using the controllers.
@TheVurtne Not possible at this time. Dolphin's ASM implementation isn't that advanced yet.
The sudden death was fucking awesome
Everytime I see 1:32 I get the feeling that they're about to break into the fourth dimension they're moving so fast.
Which means it's been glitched up so you can DI like that MK Player or edited so you can DI like him. Either way, it's things or DIing you cant do in the actual game without adding something to it or editing it.

Ow...this video gave me a headache. My mind was blown so badly.
So freaking hacked but cool, it kinda gave me a headache but it was very cool
Yes, with the Meta Knight DLC.
MAN THESE GUYS MUST HAVE GOOD REFLEXES
That was incredible.
How does Meta knight hold down B and stay invisible like that for the longest time ever? TAS should only rework the frames and save data about it. It shouldn't interfere with its moves, so the down b move pulled off by meta knight should still be able to done normally.
LOL the sudden death part is INSANE I ment how can anyone do that...
Not quite. DI of that caliber is entirely possible in a regular match. I've fought people who've managed to pull it off once or twice in tournament matches. Awesome!! But while CF dash danced on the ghost, he could risk it all by tripping...
Oh...My.....God.....
@Link500ACS Forgive my ignorance. I'm new to what just happened...what did just happen and what does TAS do?
THE MOST AMAZING THING.
This is AWESOME !!
