For strangers to the game, Steel Division 2 is an amazing strategy game. The scale of the game is realistic and so are the combat ranges, you wont see 2 tanks engage each other at 100 meters, chiselling each others visible health bar down. If i had to make a comparison, i'd say its the jump from age of empires to total war; not that age of empires is a bad game, heck its the more popular one, but you get this immense leap in realism. When you play this game you really need to think as a general does and use combined arms in both offense and defense. A good SD player will have to know about the spacing of units, antitank gun placement, smoke laying, antiaircraft net, fallback lines, armour penetration, radio networks, counter battery and so much more. They'll have to micro a 2-man panzerschrek team in a town to take out advancing tanks, then zoom out and oversee an armoured push through a light forest. The mechanics of the game force you to adopt real military strategies (notwithstanding some of the cheesey tactics used). The suppression mechanic will teach you to attack a defensive position immediately after an artillery strike (artillery in the game rarely destroys a unit outright). The armour penetration mechanic will ensure you pick your tank engagements wisely. Tanks having weaker armour on its sides will force you to secure your flanks during an armoured push. Combined arms is the way to go in this game and I reckon i've just spent way too long on this comment. tldr buy this game and play it

Either way, glad you're covering this!
@@obucinaemir818 I don't think you can do it in the campaign. Those come with artillery observers and are available when you build a deck for skirmish mode and multiplayer.
The green circles are off map artillery pieces not air strike. You should also pay attention to the small red and blue flags as they are the capture points. Those 18 vs 14 points is the total points each team has. You should take a look around the map to identify the middle points as they are the ones that get contested the most. You can then determine how important an attack or defensive line is based on those areas. I like wargame's mechanics more though since i feel like their capture locations make the battle more fluid. Steel Divison 2 is more fun to watch when its 1v1 because players can't cover the entire front line as well and there's more room for maneuver warfare.

@10:10 Vietnam Variant is sort of a thing, it's called Wargame Red Dragon, made by the same people. Based during the cold war pitting the West against the East, units from across the entire era.
What's interesting to look at, right, is how Napoleonic-era terminology carries over to this time period. In the german roster you'll find grenadiers, for instance - a carry-over from the 18th-19th centuries term. The Russians have various units designated as "Guards", or Gvardiya, so named to bring to mind the elite guards regiments of old. One British division you have access to in this game (or possibly just the previous Steel Division) is the Guards armoured division, also formed of various units with a lineage traced to the Napoleonic wars or earlier.
Wow! Glad to see you Apollo play Steel Division 2. Can you also play Wargame Red Dragon Apollo? Its also made by Eugen system the same company that created Steel Division 2. It is set on the Cold War so you can do Vietnam War in the game.
Great vids Apollo! Does green marks with a countdown is´nt an airstrike, its off map arty, very powerfull but limited uses, usually 3 per vechile, you can see the vechiles by the with arty symbol on their unitcard :)

Appolo, if you want to learn how to play, try out the Historical Battles. They are very well done and can get you very familiar with the gameplay. And then there is the campaign. Which can be very interesting for it's pretty much a Total War Campaign, but focused on key historic battles.
Apollo! If you plan to continue showing steel division 2, think of maybe showcoasing a smaller match, so the knights have an oppertunity to catch up with this new technology. 10v10 can be hectic if you dont know the game. Just a thought! Plus easier for you to keep track of all the cool things
Apollo, have you ever played Hearts of Iron 4? It's not as visual as other games you play, but I still feel like you would enjoy it. The gameplay is deep.
What are your computer specs. I’m struggling to run a 4v4 fight in Total war and your over here watching an entire world war with no lag or frame drops

This is great! WW2 was my first history subject ever. It's the reason why im into history and history is why i watch you :)

For 1v1 battles, look up Rangeroo, Khan Ulric, AngryBird, Vulcan, Nilla + SD2. Tons of great replays of tournament games
