I have the exact rip down the rear pocket on several jeans and have been searching how to mend this type of tear. Now I can patch them myself. Thank you so much for sharing!
My adult son brought me a pair of jeans with this exact rip on left pocket. I sewed it up very strongly with back stitch and also used an iron on patch on inside.
Thanks for sharing this. I have jeans, work pants, and shorts that my son-in-love needs repairing! I like using the stitches on your sewing machine for a faster solution!
My machine actually has a lot of different mending style stitches that work really well for this kind of stuff. I think it looks a lot better than just ironing a patch on it.
@VanitysGunn you can use what you want. I had a lady who wanted red bandana material covering the knee holes. The denim is strong for work jeans. And if it doesn't show it really won't matter.

When you use a patch for jeans is it better to use denim or can you use any fabric without stretch?
