Excellent band and back up singers and the singer is doing a phenomenal performance
The masks and makeup have been in the band since the beginning it is as much their trademark as is their signature sound🤘

Frontman Tobias Forge always had masks. Been several changes of main character/frontman in Ghost, but always Tobias behind the mask. Band has also had mask changes. But first version of the band they had black robes with hoods that looked like they were empty, cool illusion of spirits wearing robes

@@DaP84 true, but the chrome versions suck, if they went back to the old paintjob they would be half decent
@@bigfrankfraser1391 agree, the chrome ones were a downgrade, they look quite tacky. The ones before had a sophisticated finish that matched overall Ghost presentation. And the current "gasmasks" were a further downgrade imo. They just look goofy, like "evil Minions" or smthn lol. I've accepted them, but these masks will never win me over fully.

I heard Tobias does all the music and records it in the studio. The band are called nameless ghouls and he hires professional musicians to tour with him , that he is the only original member of Ghost.

He does not do all the music in the studio. Studio musicians do and he often takes different musicians/ghouls with him when on tour

Before 2016, the band was totally anonymous, but a lawsuit revealed the frontmans, Tobias Forge, identity.
They did continue with the masks and makeup.
The band is very much criticising the church and the Catholic Church in particular.
I'd say they criticize dogma and religion in general, but it is just convenient that the Catholic Church has such cool imagery (and that they have plenty to criticize obviously) and so Tobias chose a scary version of that. That said, if it's any one religion in particular it is most definitely Christanity as a whole and not just Catholicism.

Nuns are cosplay called Sisters of Sin
The masks are about the image of the band. The story is that the frontman is a undead zombie pope of a sort and they are the missionaries of their church which is vaguely satanic in nature. It's pretty much just a gimmick in the sense that they aren't actually satanic believers. It's a whole lot more Scooby Doo than the Excorcist so to speak. The imagery is very catholic church inspired, hence why the crowd tend to dress like nuns or they go for the undead theme and have painted on skull faces :)
Hope that helps to explain that bit somewhat.
