Matheran Trip || Lonavala Chai Break || Super Cute Dramas of KHUSHI!!!

Matheran is a eco friendly hill station located between Mumbai and Pune. The last stretch is a challenging 9km steep drive up the ghat to reach Aman Lodge where there is space available for parking your vehicles. From there, you can either take the toy train up to Matheran or hire one of the numerous horses or hand drawn carts. Be warned though, only 100 tickets are available for the toy train and you end up waiting almost two hours to get tickets on weekends. Horses and hand carts are plentiful on the other hand. You can hire horses to reach Matheran for around INR 500- 600 per horse (depends how much you can bargain).
Reaching the various points around Matheran is also best done on horseback as the locations are very spread out. It will easily take 4-5 hours to cover some of the more touristy areas such as Charlotte Lake, Louisa Point, Echo Point, Honeymoon Point and others. There are more locations as well depending on your time you can visit these.
Do ensure you have enough cash with you because there are only 2-3 ATMs which run out of cash pretty quickly. Other options to withdraw cash are available but there are charges (INR 30 per 1000 that you withdraw).
Stay options are plentiful with a lot of budget to mid range hotels. Don't go expecting 5 star properties though but you can have a good night's rest. A lot of the hotels have activities for guests such as Discos, magic shows (for kids), and more.
Monsoons are probably the best time to visit with lush green forests all around and the jungles and the hills would come alive.
