Great work Nathan. Its so good to see a little bit or wrestling thrown in.

Yes it's a key element of stick fighting and most weapons fighting.

GREAT CONTENT!! Would it be possible to see the transition from the "walking stick" grip to fighting grip?? I love making my own shillelegh type sticks and use them regularly as a "walking aid". Really enjoy your channel, please keep putting out great stuff!!!!

Yes both the Doyle and Antrim style have their own method for doing that.

@@ramblingkern thank you very much! If you're interested I'd be willing to send one of my sticks for evaluation. They're mostly maple and oak. I finish them either with oil and wax or polyurethane. CHEERS

Looks like a lot of fun. I wonder, Nathan, if you have any insight into what wood species were commonly used for cudgels in Ireland prior to deforestation; maybe ash or hornbeam, for example?

Primarily oak we had some outstanding oak here but most of it went to build the royal navy. Ash is a great wood too and can still be found in a few areas.

That was good stuff. How long is a normal round?

We normally do 2 minutes but go longer if we are having fun.
