This reminds me of the new way you taught me to think about the book of Judges. It’s so easy to think of it as a sin cycle and be judgmental of the Israelites, and yet how much more beautiful is it to see God’s redemption and grace despite my own faults and failures. That’s something I relate to so much more and makes it worthy of telling others about.
I so appreciate these thots on evangelism. "Jesus hadn't died yet" gave me a 🤯🤯🤯. I did wonder, tho, about how we are to do our proclaiming when it must come without the POWER He was using to heal all the sickness & injury and drive out all the demons within. He passed that power on to his talmidim when He departed but we, none of us, have that power to secure the life-changing attention of those we would want to proclaim to. I do understand there are still ways to love but none that are as....jaw-dropping(?) as what He, and later the 12, were able to do. I do not mean to belittle or devalue feeding and clothing those in need. And I acknowledge that you can proclaim while you minister to them. I hope you can understand the balance I'm trying to express here. I'm not even sure of my own point! I guess it is that we do it not on any power WE have but the Power He has and, like the owner of the field in Matthew, leave the harvesting to Him. But it's a difference of proclaiming to hundreds at a time (as He/they did) and one-to-one as we must do.
I like this question. I might say, to the contrary, that Jesus insisted that we would do GREATER things than he did (John 15). And I like what you point out, we will only be able to do this because of the Spirit that he promises in that same conversation. And yet these “greater things” remind us not to overemphasize the “miraculous” as more powerful than communal belonging and wholeness. And I would imagine he might wink at us and say 2 billion of us doing “one-to-one” work is still an awful lot better than anyone (him, you, me) speaking to the masses. And none of this changes how we bring or announce Kingdom. We are to follow his model and the model he set when he sent them out. Bring healing, eradicate evil, and tell people that a new reality/kingdom is on the scene (whether that’s one on one or to groups of people).
Trying to think more cosmically here. Jesus hadn't died yet- as in the life of the finite body of the person but not as the death and life of the Universal Christ, the alpha and the omega, the eternal truth for us humans, the imago dei. Our souls are wired to carry this 'Adam Kadmon". Primordial man may just be the humble bridge between Judaism and what we understand as followers of Christ. On the cross our sweet Lord, gate + good Shepherd, took care of our misunderstanding that 'sin' entered our sacred chariots, our universe. It is dead-- always was, always will be. It is not to be an issue. Let us continue in our Tikkun olam and participate in the repair of the world. Let us long to know our Soul's worth!
@@coveredinhisdust ah I figured hated to be that one who pigeon holes the verses lol tks for bringing me out of that the insecure legalistic side of me wants a literal check off my list task lol amen free me Holy spirit :)
Great Truths. Just seems there's a wedge between church & Kingdom. The 'church' culture simply doesn't comprehend this literal & radical image bearing apart from tradition. I find that the Kingdom is more attractive than the church because Jesus, lived out, leads me to 'show' then 'tell.'
This seems to be so true where I live as well. There are places where it is less true, but the extant church brands seem to have other vested interests than investing in the new kingdom. To be honest, it sort of scares me.
This is confirmation for me in the Spirit, I currently don't have a home church, as is tradition, not apart of as an institution, though nothing is wrong with being apart of it as Jesus participated in it, however I am apart of many fellowship opportunities that aren't ordered by an institution, I'm going through BEMA weekly with a couple sisters and am on 2 zoom women prayer calls. And the Spirit is like you're fine, I give a contribution to one of the womens led prayer call. Just very untraditional but God is working the kingdom makes a way. 🔥 There are some ways I can share how the kingdom makes a way to advance but it's long lol
My understanding (my proclamation) is that the word 'demon' was used for all the multitude of mental and physical illness in the BodyMind each of us suffers from due to the enormity of unhealed trauma. We now might understand trauma as the divine charge (Luis Mojica as one teacher of this). In my personal experience of healing, the kingdom arrives whenever my inner chaotic energy (from overwhelm to the system) is converted to logic through divine participation/compassion/presence. The best way I can describe this simply is my understanding of Matt 18:3-- most of us have stifled indeed disabled children in our adult bodies due to developmental ages differing from actual. Ego-centric regressions when we are emotionally triggered. The best news is that life is always happening FOR US in this regard. We are individuating/integrating the adult and as Lacan said-- it is when the Word is incarnated that everything really starts going badly. lol Yes, that's when the dark night of the Soul commences. Enable space for the child to express, to create, to be heard and experience healing and wholeness. Grateful for our way-shower Jesus in the Holy Spirit.

Yes God works in spite of bad theology. We are tracking with you.
You just validated my feelings about spreading the “intellectual” gospel all these years…

What do you mean by see it in 13:57, since Jesus says it is not here or there but within you? Asking for a friend 😂 me I'm the friend lol
I mean it less literally… see it, perceive it, experience it, embody it… all the things. Participation.

A little off topic Marty but which Bema podcast do you discuss biblical numbers?
Some in episode 0. A few passing references. Maybe episode titled “5 loaves, 2 fish and one big lesson” (session 3) maybe?
