Emotional Integration Meditation - Revised & Extended - 20 Minute Version - Jungian Shadow Work

- Emotional Integration is a cornerstone of personal transformation, shadow work and the attainment of self-knowledge. Swiss psychologist Carl Jung once said “There can be no transforming of darkness into light and of apathy into movement without emotion.”
In this Emotional Integration exercise, we will be voluntarily engaging with an emotional trigger. We will bring this feeling to mind, experiencing it fully, allowing it to run its course in conscious awareness. By integrating emotions in this way, we can release from old patterns, live freely, without conflict, and align more closely with our authentic selves.
Before you begin this exercise, it can help to have a particular feeling in mind to work with - whether something that came up during an active imagination exercise, a coaching session, a tarot reading, or in daily life. Alternatively, you can use this guided exercise itself to work with whatever needs to come up.
Completing this extended Emotional Integration exercise takes courage and a willingness to go deep into some potentially challenging aspects of the unconscious. Remember that these feelings are impermanent, and that whatever you experience during this exercise is a reflection of your own mind and inner wisdom.
After completing the exercise, it is recommended to reflect on your experience and the insights you gained. If you would like, you can share your thoughts in the comments below to connect with others and deepen your understanding.

Thank you so much for posting this meditation. It helped me explain why I've been getting headaches and neck stiffness lately. First, the body scan was so simple yet revealing. I love the way your meditations encourage answers from my own head. And to my amazement after the conversation with myself, I learnt something new about my feelings and most immediately, the pain literally dissolved. I look forward to all your meditations and always find something useful in each to move forward with 🙏🙏🙏
Hi there and thank you for your wonderful feedback on the exercise. I’m very glad to hear it helped you come to such powerful insights as well as the resolution for your pain.
You’ve highlighted some rich lessons about the nature of mind and our physical ailments. Often these are messages from the unconscious, trying to communicate to the conscious mind that something needs attention. In your case it sounds like there were some unresolved feelings and associated narratives that were out of alignment with your Self. These had been manifesting through physical means. Once the cause was seen and made conscious, it could be let go of.
It’s interesting how a lot of these kinds of ailments - neck stiffness, headaches, fever, etc - can lead us to want to lie down and be with ourselves, our thoughts and feelings, in a darkened space. It’s as though the symptoms are the means by which what needs to be seen, gets seen. Much like with all unconscious content - if we try to fight it, it just pushes back to the point of forcing us to face what is hidden. I know that whenever I have been sick or injured, there has been an emotional catharsis and accompanying insights gained in recovery. This has led me to believe it’s not merely about undergoing a physical recovery, and that chronic physical conditions in particular are largely not what they seem.
Well done for completing this exercise. You can repeat this EIM regularly or whenever you feel the need to do some deep investigation into a strong emotion. If you do have chronic pain or discomfort, there is another exercise you might be interested in called Transforming Chronic Pain: th-cam.com/video/-tP8iRH0ZIM/w-d-xo.html
Hi Max, thank you for directing me here for another round of EIM to unblock a thought which I felt in my chest. I tried The Wall before this and the 10 of Cups again (What makes me feel fulfilled) and I had a breakthrough! At first I thought it would mean lots of shadow work and my inner child got involved breaking thru the wall... 😊 but the answer was v simple and staring me in the face: I don't/can't articulate what brings me contentment etc because I'm afraid it'll be taken away (not true). I also had a familiar neck and jaw pain which melted away after the meditation. I guess I put myself into fight or flight mode when I try n say I'm fulfilled at last; but yes, I'm content, I can feel it n say it now🎉 I know I gnawed away at this but it's so easy at the end 😂 there's lots of other things from my younger days as you suggested but they don't seem so important now. Big happy sigh
Im going over your Malaysia videos. V interesting comments about KL. All the best, Sui
Your meditations are my absolute favorites. I have more results with them than with therapy, it's the slow pace, the deep calm voice, and the choice of words that really work on me. Once in less that 10 minutes I was totally transported i started to dream awake, it was amazing.
Thank you for your lovely feedback. I’m very humbled and encouraged to know that the meditations have had such a profound impact on you. One on one dialogue in therapy and coaching has its strengths. These exercises can serve us well alongside therapy and they work on the mind from a different angle - by purposely opening up an interaction with the unconscious mind in a dedicated practice.
Each person has within them a living oracle. We believe that each individual is their own priest / priestess, and the answers we need at each stage of our growth are already within. A good therapist or coach helps to facilitate this process of self-discovery. But understanding and working with the unconscious mind through dedicated practice is also a vital part of this journey. It can sometimes feel like dreaming whilst awake, as various aspects from the unconscious rise to the surface.
Sometimes the practice can be very pleasant, at others challenging. Whilst it won’t always feel like you are transported somewhere else, as long as you are engaging with unseen parts of yourself, progress is being made.
Well done for continuing to work with the unconscious mind and thanks again for your comment. Please feel free to continue sharing your experiences and get in touch any time if we can help further.
Thank you 19:01
You're welcome!
This is a wonderful tool! Thank you! ❤
Thank you Jennifer! You're very welcome ❤️
If I am feeling numb, does that mean my feelings are repressed? I was wondering if you could give me a little bit of guidance around that thank you very much.❤
@@jennifermilton9976 Hi Jennifer, I would not say that if you’re feeling numb that this is necessarily a sign of repressed emotions. If the numbness itself is a kind of feeling, I suggest bringing your attention to that feeling, locating it in the body and working with it as you would any other feeling. Whether you feel a numbness, or an absence of feeling altogether, you will soon find that the experience evolves into something else.
With that said, there’s nothing wrong with having repressed feelings. Every one of us most likely has some unresolved feeling, waiting to arise under the right conditions. As long as we approach a resolution with wholesome intentions, the mind will find a way to release them at the right time, in a gradual way. So I suggest continuing to work with this exercise, with this feeling of numbness if you can locate it, or even in an absence of any clear feeling. If there is a feeling associated with being repressed, or any fears around that, you could try seeing if you can locate that feeling and work with that.
Do let me know if this helps or if you have any follow up questions :)
@@makeitconscious I like that. I think I just need to keep working on that and bringing it into consciousness.
Side note: is there any other way to not get ads in the middle of the video without buying the upgrade? It’s so annoying. Lol.
@@jennifermilton9976 Wonderful, yes I recommend persevering with emotional integration work and active imagination. See how this numbness evolves over time and whether it gives way to more material coming to the surface.
Regarding the ads, unfortunately TH-cam does not allow creators to disable ads entirely until they have over 1000 subscribers (and 4000 watch hours in the last year). In the meantime I have done what I can and switched off what are called 'internet based ads' which should keep them to a minimum, but some ads may still appear from time to time. If this happens I recommend skipping the ad and re-focusing on the exercise in the way that you would for other kinds of distraction.
Depending on how the channel metrics play out, I am considering to publish these exercises on other platforms where ads do not interrupt the exercises.

Great, good work for completing the exercise🌟🔥
I'm trying to sit through this meditation but I'm having some difficulty
Ever since I let my mother who is full of demons into my house I feel like things of hers are always around me I picked up cigarettes within a day or two of her coming to my house I was a huge disappointed against cigarettes and then I go and pick them up my damn self I'm trying to put those down right now somewhere along the line I gave up on myself I've been permitted and run over since 4 years old in ways that no one will ever comprehend because they didn't have to live it
I forgave her before she deed I let her go that day
There hasn't been one day up until 2 years ago in my 54 years that I've ever been able to look at my own self and say what do
I was trained so well to be obedient by this woman that beat the crap out of me every day of my life until I bled at 12, my grandma saved me but I was such an angry kid by then, and because all I never known was bad go to bed by 6:30 get beaten to death if I even was 635 awake didn't bring home straight A's got beat up would fill books and books worth to make sure I was a straight A
Because I've had God at the same time I relied very much on Jesus
Only to find out about the book of Josephus which is in the old New testament just under a different last name right now my brain can't think of it but that was actually all the flavians imagination written out by council of Greek and Roman philosophers only and if you read the book of Josephus it looks a lot like the New testament then learn that Luke Matthew John all of them weren't even them it was people had written down what they've been passed down because Babylonians burned everything the closest thing we have to the closest thing of Jesus's time is nag hammadi
The book of Thomas starts off correctly it truly does when you find out the truth you can't never go back
Your openness in sharing this is brave. The struggles you’ve faced are profound and have clearly impacted you deeply. It’s important to remember that progress is often non-linear and often involves facing difficult emotions and memories. Reaching a point where you are able to forgive your mother is significant and commendable. I can see you are on a deep search for meaning and understanding. This is a natural part of the individuation process.
You’ve done well to seek out exercises such as this one. It suggests a wholesome intention to heal. This can be a particularly challenging exercise and it’s OK if you find it difficult to sit through at times. You could try some basic meditation alongside this one which will help prepare the mind for this deep work. You might also be interested to try the exercise Transforming the Addiction, which can offer some additional support around the cigarettes: th-cam.com/video/VYRYf_TZXO8/w-d-xo.html
If you're open to it, seeking support from an in-person therapist or counsellor could provide additional guidance and support. There are a lot of good people in the bioenergetics field experienced in helping people recover from situations of abuse.
