Did you say that was a Shakey's pizza? I used to go to one of those in South Bend when I was a kid. When I led worship at a small church there was a guy that played with us who normally played guitar but on special occasions... he'd break out his banjo. Such a unique sound! Man the places you manage to find!!
I have never heard of Shakey's until I did some research on this place. Never knew about a place that host banjo players. I was going through my Roadside America App and I was like this sounds so random, I have to go here. I was originally going to a large Toothbrush at a dentist office but the place ended up a little rough. This was way better.
We are not banjo players. But I grew up in the mountains of Virginia and heard plenty of banjo music growing up. This is an impressive collection! I can see why they wouldn’t put up a display about Deliverance. It didn’t really portray banjo music in a flattering light. LOL. A little more practice and you will be ready for your banjo career. Thanks for giving us a tour of this museum!
Not much banjo playing here in the mid-west. Only really saw it in movies and tv shows. The museum was way fancier than I was expecting. It was a fun stop to break up the long drive. This was part of my solo trip. So much easier when the family is with me.
I'm loving this TV through your video! I remember banjos from little house on the prarie (although their dad played the violin mostly). This is a cool rte 66 find! This is like the rock and roll hall of fame lol. Kermit! 🎉 not a banjo- but my daughter is starting guitar. Crazy thst Steve Martin had such a huge roll w BANJOS! Whaaa???!
I try to do one new thing with each video and much easier to bring back and re-create for future videos (like the tv effect). Impressive your daughter is taking up the guitar. Such a cool instrument - I wonder if there is a guitar museum or hall of fame. Thanks for watching and hope you guys have a Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! Our first dog was named Banjo! ❤🐾 so this video holds a special place in my heart 😀 what a cool place!! I’d like to make it back to Oklahoma City this year! - thanks for sharing this awesome museum!
You are so sweet! Thank you so much for the Thanks, we really appreciate it! LOL, your dog was named Banjo. Downtown Oklahoma City seemed nice. It was a quick stop for me while I headed back home. Hope you have a Happy New Year!
Can’t believe the number of banjos in this museum! To me, the movie, “Deliverance”, is the iconic banjo movie. Wonder why they didn’t showcase it? The interactive area where you could learn to play was awesome!
It was a fun stop to break up the trip back home. Originally I was going to the big toothbrush at a dentist office but it was a rougher part of town. But the Banjo Museum was also high on my list. The museum layout was so good and the place was so clean.
Like 12 I like the rare old banjo 🪕 Lots of history of these instruments. I wouldn’t have any favourite moment of a time I heard the banjo playing, but I do think of some of Dolly Parton’s songs. Very Cool collection of Banjos Carl. Happy New Year Carl and best wishes to you and your family ❤️🙏🏽🤠👍🏽🪕🪕🪕
Banjo's make me smile every time I hear or see them. Such unique instruments. Happy New Year to you guys also. How long have you guys been posting on a weekly basis? We have been at it since March 2019 (almost 6 years)
This looks like such an interesting museum. Steve Martin actually wrote a Broadway musical that features a lot of banjo as part of the score. This place is on my list of museums in OKC to visit when I get back there for an extended stay. I’m glad you had such a positive experience there
Out of all my TH-cam friends, you know so much random facts. This is something you need to incorporate more into your videos. It's your superpower. It was very clean and well organized and it was less than going to a movie.
@ I’ll try to keep that in mind. One day I’ll finally get to Jeopardy! and put things to the test. The musical is called Bright Star. I’ve never seen it, but I did own the CD soundtrack for awhile
Wow! That's a fun collection, plenty of banjos to go around lol.. I remember Kermit playing the banjo with that fun song hehe.. I don't know how to play the banjo myself so I'm sticking to eating haha..
An interesting type of museum for sure! I love how detailed & intricate the ones from the early 1900's are. And with all that training you might be a banjo player one day Carl 😂
It sounded so strange that I had to visit it. It was way fancier than I was expecting. I wouldn't hold your breath on being a banjo player! Quick question, how come you comment on a different account? More people would find your channel if you commented on your main channel. Just curious.
@ This is my original account and I’ve been using it to follow everyone on here. I created the other one back in 2023 for my travel videos. At first I was concerned about privacy and now I realize I should’ve been uploading everything on this channel. You’re right I could start using my Road Ahead account to follow the travel TH-camrs. I’m just used to logging onto this account.
I didn't succeed either. But a short with you playing the banjo while on a unicycle, while a tractor show would go viral. I'm really surprised you didn't make it here yet.
I wonder how popular modern banjos are? Probably a few types of music are made using them! I play guitar, but never tried playing these. Can't say I know anyone that has one. Hope they told you to flip that banjo over to the other side - I think it would hard to follow if you had the string order flipped! lol
I really on see banjos in movies and tv shows - and I think that is what makes it so interesting. When's the last time yous saw a friend just play the banjo. Didn't realize you had guitar skills like an 80's rock band. I would have never known about there was different number of strings. Happy New Year!
Wow, nice collection!! Steve Martin plays a mean banjo 😋 is nice to broaden our knowledge. Cheers Carl!
This was way fancier than I was expecting and fun quick stop on my solo road trip. Happy New Year!
That’s one heck of a collection, thanks for sharing. Hope you and the family have a blessed weekend and a Happy New Year my friend.
It was crazy to see so many different type of banjos. I seriously thought there was only a few. Hope you and your family have a Happy New Year!
Wow what a cool museum...and I can play the Banjo..we should join up and play a bit of Foggy Mountain..
You are probably way better than me. Banjo is such an interesting instrument. Hope you have a Happy New Year!
That’s a LOT of Banjos!!!
Some of them are absolutely beautiful…. You going to learn to play now????
I think my banjo playing was a one and done. I'll just appreciate it by watching. Those banjos were so fancy.

I agree. Those were much fancier banjos than I was expecting. It was great seeing for the Christmas Service!

Banjo museum sounded so weird that I had to go there. You are the master at eating!!! Hope you have a Happy New Year!

@ Yea, you’ll get more subscribers that way. I’m just happy you are watching regardless which account.
I tried my hand at playing the banjo 🪕 didn’t secede 😂 I almost went there on my last trip out west.
I didn't succeed either. But a short with you playing the banjo while on a unicycle, while a tractor show would go viral. I'm really surprised you didn't make it here yet.
@ to bad I gave away the banjo 😂
Van Halen of banjos 😂. If they ever come out with a 1 string banjo I might be able to join your banjo band. You are a true banjo natural!
If we had a banjo band, they might pay us not to play. Money Museum adventure will be coming out this week. Hopefully Thursday.
Get out of town. There is a place with a collection? HAHA. LIKE 20. 👍👍👍
That's what I said so I had to see it for myself!

Y’all find the coolest places! 🪕 Jenn
Thanks. When I saw this on my Roadside America App, I had to stop. Have a Happy New Year!
