We moved to our 11 acres in 2011 from a large city in the Midwest with zero carpentry and farming skills. We live with no solar / wind power / public water or well. Actually the primer is for both. A friend of mine worked in water works. They got primer that was clear because they didn't need to inspected because they were exempt. They liked it because your work didn't have purple crap everywhere. He says it was actually more expensive because it wasn't the mass produced ordinary stuff even though the purple dye is added. Some PVC glues are made to be used without primer.
You are a great teacher. You make it look like everyone can do it. The more I watch you guys, the more it is evident to me, that you both have been called by the Lord.

I've discovered your channel about a month ago and been watching some of your older videos and I am absolutely amazed. Been thinking about doing the same thing for about a year and how to go about it. Your videos have been helpful.
That's amazing! I've helped my dad plumb our house. We actually lived over a year, my husband lived about 4 years without running water. But we have it now thanks to my dad for helping us get the sewer and water lines done. We dug our own trenches, we laid our own pipes. It was a lot of work but we appreciate water so much for having had to live that way. We never take for granted a good rain shower. God bless you all 🙏❤️

So freakin happy I found your guys channel. Im 29 and doing this in Hawaii with my dog. No experience, barely any money. Just winging it. Have my fort up already, working on the kitchen / shower now. I was heading the route of propane for heat with a Paloma and a 12v / panel. Now you have me reconsidering my choices and I hate / love you for it.

Wow, that is the coolest shower ever! You look like a very skilled carpenter to me, Doug! I love your shower, and your entire gravity fed water system.
The primer is for softening the pvc. The glue then "melts" or "welds" the pvc together.

My husband built us one this year. Great for cooling off and getting clean in hot summer weather, but not so great in cold weather. Cool weather we use our wood-fired stove to heat water to bathe.

Really good video! The overhead tour of your place in the intro emphasizes how much work you've done over the years. You can tell you both feel good about where you're at in life and where you're at is no mistake, you saw the dream and made it happen, not a whole lot of folks can say that. I’ve showered outside for 35 years! Rain or shine. I included a 10’ x 10’ outdoor shower when the house was built. It’s just outside the bathroom with access through a sliding glass door. The shower walls are part of the siding of the house so you can’t tell it’s a shower from the outside.

great job thank you for your knowledge and expertise I am in the city and I capture Rainwater I have it going through the wall with a false spicket and use it for Flushing can saves a lot of money in water and sewer cost

Wow, lots of progress. You sure have come a long way with your eleven acres. I can hardly imagine building a log cabin in four months. We built a 1300 square foot concrete block home in The Philippines over an eleven or twelve month period. We had one or two helpers. We thought that was pretty good. An out door shower sounds so good. I know in the heat in the summer gets tough. I am interested in the filters. What a great project. I may try an outside water back up system. This video gives me the courage to try. Sorry, I thought it was four months, now I find out it was three months. A spot or two of chlorine will kill the algae so do not worry. We need an outside shower for the help in the islands. God bless you both. Love your videos.
