When you are using the LDG tuners with Icom radios, there is no need to manually turn the RF power down when you tune. When you push the tuner button on the radio, the radio automatically goes to CW mode and reduces power to 10 watts, then once it's tuned, it returns to full power and back to the preset mode
Just picked up a 7300 last weekend in Kansas City and today got an LDG AT 200 Pro II to go with it down at our local Candy Store. Love this radio. One comment on your video Andreas. The reason that your tuner kept going into bypass mode when you pressed the Tune button on the Icom is that this is per design. A short press of the tune button on the Icom will toggle bypass mode and tuner mode while a long press of the tune button will force a tune cycle. If the tuner has been tuned on that frequence before, it will recall the previous tune setting which you can use or override by doing a long press of the button and the tuner will retune that frequency. I also noticed that you have not yet entered your Callsign into the radio. You can enter your Callsign into the 7300 and it will great you with it every time you turn on the radio. To program it use: Menu --> Set --> Display (Pg 1/2) --> My Call (Pg 3/4). It doesn't really serve any purpose and is not required to operate the radio but it is cool to see your Callsign show up on the splash screen during powerup.
Thank you for this video, very helpful. I don't have a tuner yet but I have just got myself a 7300. New licence holder and having been using the rig for just a week or so I realise that I have such a lot to learn. I had thought myself that the 7300 internal tuner worked well and 40m band seems to be the only one that I use that has a high swr, I have not yet tried emergency mode on the tuner. Thanks again for the video. Gerry M7UKD (not far from you).
Hello and thanks for the video. I just bought an amp and watched you video on the swr meter. They dont make the m600 anymore. Do i really need an external meter since i have one built into my ic 7300? thanks for your time.
You bypassed it and took the tuner out of the circuit when you were whistling, noticed the bypass light? You kept momentarily pressing the tune button instead of holding it down!
I just added an LDG Z-100A tuner. The directions are very vague. When I turn the ICOM on the tuner light is always out. Is that normal to have to press tuner button each time the unit is turned on? Also, I have a problem remembering to turn the power down when tuning. Is that hard on the receiver? Thank you
My question is why on earth do you have an external antenna tuner hooked up the an Icom 7300 when it has an internal antenna tuner that works wonderfully? Is this LDG At 100PRO ll tuner any better or superior to the internal antenna tuner in the Icom 7300? Why purchase and additional item to tune when it is not necessary? Really
just got the cable and autotuner attached. messed around with it some. now I want to remove interface cable from the back as I use my 7300 as a POTA transceiver in the field. does anyone have any tips to remove it easily and quickly?

Hi Gerry - Emergency mode works great .
no need to whistle for tuning, just switch to FM and tune and back to SSB. That gives you a much better tuning without disturbing anyone on the band
Thanks
Your IC-7300 draws cool air from the vents on the top when the fan is running so best not block them.
Thanks

I have never used an amp sorry .

Yes I was learning as I used it but got it sussed in the end.

Hi do you have the remote control wire for the tuner and what radio do you have ?

I now like the ATU100M , th-cam.com/video/HJbW2j7ST6c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=U-Ux0MyhiD-Z80AL
Bc it’s a wider tuner. Internal tuners are very limited.
Can the MFJ turner ground be connected to the Icom 7300 ground?
I mean to put a direct cable from the transmitter to the coupler?
Thank you
I earth the tuner
