Thank you so much for this! I've been taking this Tramline sooo often throughout my life, I know every stop and I still ive here and know how it looks today. Thank you for reminding me how it used to be, wow! I'm so amazed!
Yvonne Stolterfoht I plan to shoot a present version of this route. Do you recall where this video starts and where it ends? Is this line still active?
Dawid Perkowski well yes and no. I assume the line started in the outskirts of east Berlin in Falkenberg. The most similar one nowadays would probably be the M4: www.bitstadt.de/Tram/StationList/33 BUT the last part of the track has changed. You see it used to drive from Mollstraße / Otto Braunstraße via Torstraße and then turn left into "Alte Schönhauser Straße" towards "Hackescher Markt". Now it drives via Alexanderplatz from there. The tracks at Alte Schönhauser Straße are still there but not really used in years unless there are construction works somewhere and it has to take a detour. Plus the whole area all the tracks at Hackescher Markt have also been changed a lot. But yeah I guess for 3/4 of the line it's still the same maybe. When do you plan to shoot it? I might be on board for that! :D
Dawid Perkowski look what I just found. Sprichst Du deutsch? www.berliner-verkehr.de/trbilder/netz_bvb_1982_city.jpg I guess the tram line you see is probably the old 24 or 28 according to this map. but thats only the inner center part that has changed. The part that is not on the map is the same still
I was born in Poland, Bydgoszcz and this realllllly reminds me of those days when i used to live in Poland. Who couldve hought that a simple tramp vid and amazing track can have such an impact. Cheers!
As usual a great work of brains, music and visual aspects. Berlin has indeed changed so much, I have lived there for 10 years, and even though I lived the "end era of the freedom epoch" I still long for it. And yes, today it is the best example of capital + real estate financial creativity in Europe, if one neds to put it the soft way. The young generations bring their light in an otherwise greyish winter, but trust me, they do not live the freedom the precedent generations had FROM the fall of the wall (before t´was something else) to around 2011... KUDOS for efdemin .
there are already some "similar" videos online, which were filmed in the recent years. just type in "tram falkenberg" or "tram hohenschönhausen", and there you go
I lived there until 1986 and don't recognise the actual city neither :( the spirit is absolutely lost, Berlin was the best place for living, now is a showroom of indecent capitalism... I love how grey and industrial alike was Ost Berlin ^^
peterpanda1970 At that time, the houses gray and the hearts of the people were colorful . Today it is the other way around. I like the industrial look also. Greets from East Berlin Pankow. :)
Strange...i live in another splendid post-soviet country, but you have to visit the worst examples of socialist design to find something remotely as bleak as East-Berlin seems to have been...cant figure it because the DDR was still far better off economically than the rest of us (respect from Hungary to all the Ossies btw)
In some rare tracks the atmosphere is so perfectly built that when you close your eyes, you realize that you can see more than with them open,

also consider then you were young and now your are not anymore, the person who is looking at the city is not the same.
momburac I am always young. ;)

Looks like George Orwell's 1984 society.
As I watch this I can smell the coal smoke in the air.

Das is keine DDR Eigenschaft.
