With the way his NP works, he almost seems like a quick version of Romulus = Quirinus, except he relies on getting hit to build up the buff instead of marking enemies. This could result in more consistent AoE damage, whereas Saint Roma tends to single someone out.
You got it. With 2 Heroic King stacks he matches Caren (formerly the top Quick hitter), with 3 he wins. With 6 (which is tough to do without Miss Crane), he can hit Roma/AA levels.
He's good, sure, but... he's still just a slightly worse Saber Okitan in pretty much every area except support potential. - His NP hits for less damage unless you get some stacks on his first skill. Which works for CQs, I guess, but for farming Okitan is in the lead. - Okitan also has a 2 hit 3 turn Invul with NP gain up, but she can use it on herself and said NP gain up has 10% more than his. - Okitan's NP charge is on a lower cooldown. - Okitan's crit buff comes with a 500% star weight buff. Making her the better crit servant. I really don't get why they made him limited. Having two limited servants this similar to each other just means one of them is going to lose out when you have both. Unless you really like him there's zero reason to roll for him if you have Saber Okitan. And well, if you do like him you should stay the hell away from any banner with Okitan on it if you don't want to make him obsolete...
Yea don't like his overlap with Okitan, I was hoping he was permanent so that at least he can be an alternative for people who missed her, but as is she's just straight up better
He just seems really good. Which is nice considering how long he's been anticipated. And since the odds seem good that we'll get another busted Quick support in the future, could be even better than expected down the road.
When using Charlemagne's gimmick where his Noble Phantasm getting per getting hit skill where it's similar to Super Bunyan that where the problem that I encounter is the enemies are not hitting him so his NP doesn't do extra damage with his NP so he does need Taunt.
@@julilanche I only got Charlie and 3 Rolands in the banner which is why I can speculate what is problem with Charlemagne in the first place so far I have Chen Gong and Kiritsugu have target taunts so Charlie can be hit for the bonus damage. I'd have preferred it if it had multiple proc conditions. Over the Royal Road/Walking the Path of the King is a skill about "being empowered when the user acts like a king" and there are multiple ways that could go. IMO it should have a proc condition for hitting crits, which would be easy for him since he'd make so many stars. Plus, hitting a crit is more kingly than getting hit.
I have seen some people wondering why he is limited, and there are very good lore reasons, something explored in Extella Link. He is not limited just because the devs felt like it. I haven't played the game, but from what little I know (and correct me if I am wrong), he shouldn't be summoneable in the first place, and such summon is a miracle. If someone were to summon Charlemagne, they would summon his historical self, Karl der Große, who is a ruler. This Charlemagne is the ficticional version (seen in the Song of Roland and Orlando Furioso) of the historical one, and he is Karl der Große's shadow, because his historical feats overshadows his ficticional ones - "He lives in those legends, but Rex Magnus Karl is too strong of an influence on actual history. ...So reality is like a shield holding back the fantasy. There is no place for fantasy to creep into the life of Rex Magnus Karl." This interaction is somewhat relevant in Arc 2 with Proper Human History and Lostbelts, which, you know, are sustained by the *Fantasy* Trees. I knew if they were going to add Charlemange and not Karl der Große, it had to be in a Lostbelt. Anyways, he is a solid servant. He might not be op and he is somewhat niche, but he is still overall a serviceable unit unlike some other niche servants. Now that Ruler Moriarty is out, he can help him with those crits against evil enemies but both are limited 5* - rolling for another limited 5* to enable those crits is not worth it overall unless you really like both and your wallet or luck allows it. However... from what little I have seen, Charlie is a REALLY good boy with hidden Enthusiasm and Wholesomeness EX. I am going to roll for him when he comes to NA for that sole reason. On a side note, Extella Link's endings are really sad, I cried a little bit (and the music did not help the matters). That is why his appearance in FGO is special for his fans and I am really happy for them. Deserved, really.
I haven't played Extella Link yet, but just from the interactions and his general mannerisms, I do really like Charles. Which is why it's unfortunate that we will also no doubt get Moriarty Ruler, who I will absolutely aim for. I don't mean anything by it, but cmon. Young Moriarty.
